Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo prevent duplicate episodes in a 24/7 YouTube story playlist, audit the playlist and remove repeated entries using YouTube’s playlist controls. Check video identity, not just titles or thumbnails: two entries with similar names may be different videos, while the same video can appear under a changed title. YouTube’s documented help pages describe manual playlist management; they do not document an automatic duplicate-detection setting.
First, distinguish duplicate entries from repeat playback
A duplicate entry means the same video has been added to the playlist more than once. Repeat playback is different: YouTube’s Loop control plays the playlist continuously. It does not remove repeated entries or prevent them from being added. YouTube Help explains how playlist looping works.
Audit the playlist before changing it
- Open the playlist and review its entries. Compare each episode with entries you have already checked.
- Check video identity, not title alone. Titles and thumbnails can be similar or change over time. Comparing the video IDs is a practical way to tell whether two entries point to the same video. This is a manual review method, not a YouTube duplicate-detection feature.
- Note which entry to remove. If the same video appears twice, decide which position you want to keep before editing, especially if playlist order matters to the story.
YouTube describes playlist controls for adding, removing, and reordering videos. The exact wording and layout can vary by device and interface release. See YouTube Help’s playlist-management instructions for Android and its computer instructions for editing playlists.
Remove a repeated episode from the playlist
In the YouTube Studio app
YouTube’s documented app flow is to open Content, select the video’s options, choose Edit, uncheck the playlist from which you want to remove it, and save. Check that you are changing playlist membership—not deleting the video from your channel. Interface labels may vary by device or release.

What series playlists do—and do not—prevent
YouTube’s series playlist feature marks videos as an official set that should be watched together. YouTube says a video cannot appear in more than one series playlist. That restriction applies to series playlists; it does not establish that ordinary playlists automatically reject duplicate entries. See YouTube Help on series playlists.

Keep live-stream archiving separate from playlist cleanup
Playlist duplicate prevention does not determine whether a live stream is archived. YouTube Help says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; the shorter duration is not a guarantee of archiving. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup. See YouTube Help on archiving live streams.
