To loop a Minecraft survival-world recording on a YouTube livestream, load the video into an OBS Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to a YouTube Live broadcast, and start streaming. For multiple recordings, use OBS’s VLC Video source with a playlist and Loop Playlist enabled. The loop repeats the file; it does not keep your internet connection, YouTube broadcast, or archive running if those fail.
Before you start: check the recording and its rights
Review the complete video and audio before broadcasting. Minecraft’s Usage Guidelines for Fans and Creators allow creators to make and share gameplay videos and streams, including on YouTube, and permit ad-supported monetization when the guidelines are followed. They require videos to be free to view and sufficiently distinctive. Commentary is one example of a creator contribution; a logo, web address, or overlay alone may not be enough. An unchanged archive is not automatically compliant, so assess the actual recording against the full guidelines.
Minecraft’s permission for gameplay does not clear music, sound effects, or other third-party audio in your recording. Confirm that you have permission for each component for both livestreaming and keeping an archive. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; it may show a placeholder, warn you, interrupt or terminate the stream, and make a Content ID claim on an archived stream after it ends. If you are licensed to use the material, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid a live interruption.
Choose how to repeat the archive
One recording: OBS Media Source
Use a Media Source when the archive is a single local video file. OBS supports common formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM. In the source’s properties, select the file and turn on Loop. OBS documents this setting as off by default.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Several recordings: VLC Video playlist
Use a VLC Video source if you want multiple recordings to play in sequence. Add the files as a playlist and leave Loop Playlist enabled; OBS documents it as on by default. This source requires VLC to be installed. On 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.
Set up and start the YouTube livestream
- Prepare the source. In OBS, add the Media Source for one file or a VLC Video source for a playlist. Select the archive or playlist, set the loop option, and check that both video and audio play as expected.
- Set up a YouTube Live broadcast. Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Treat the broadcast event and the reusable stream configuration as separate items: YouTube documents reusing one stream resource for recurring broadcasts, with only one event live at a time in that scenario.
- Connect OBS. Enter the YouTube stream settings in OBS. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel. Use YouTube’s normal stream configuration for this workflow rather than constructing HLS playlists or using the Live Streaming API.
- Test, then go live. Send a short test and check the OBS preview and YouTube Live dashboard for picture, sound, and stream status. Start the broadcast using the appropriate YouTube control for the event.
- Enable the archive if viewers should be able to watch later. Archiving is a broadcast setting, not a consequence of turning on the OBS loop. After the event, inspect the processed recording for audio matching or other claims. YouTube may make Content ID claims after a live stream finishes if it is archived.
- Monitor the stream. Check OBS and YouTube Live while it runs. A source loop repeats playback only; it does not guarantee uninterrupted internet, continued channel live access, a working YouTube broadcast, or successful archive processing.
What the loop does—and does not—solve
OBS repeats the local source after it reaches the end; it does not restart a failed broadcast or repair a dropped network connection. A recurring broadcast can reuse a stream configuration, but each broadcast is a distinct event. If you need viewers to be able to replay the event, enable the archive option for that broadcast and verify the processed result afterward.

For this basic repeat workflow, use YouTube’s normal stream setup. Its HLS ingestion guide is aimed at encoder vendors and describes upload formats and playlist or segment constraints; HLS is a higher-latency option intended for premium quality or resolution, not a requirement for looping a local recording through OBS.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The video stops at the end. Open the source properties and enable Loop for a Media Source, or Loop Playlist for VLC Video. The Media Source loop is off by default.
- The VLC playlist source is missing or fails to load. Install VLC. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC, then reopen OBS and check the source again.
- YouTube interrupts or blocks the live stream. Check the YouTube Live dashboard for warnings or restrictions and review every music and audio element. If you have a licence, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist for live use.
- The live event ends but no usable replay appears. Check that archiving was enabled for that broadcast, then inspect the processed archive and any associated claims in YouTube Studio. The source loop itself does not control archive creation or processing.
- The stream key may have been exposed. Reset or replace it in YouTube Studio and update the stream settings in OBS before going live again.
- The loop is playing locally, but viewers cannot see a live stream. Confirm that OBS is connected and sending video, the broadcast is the intended event, and YouTube shows it as live. Recheck channel live access and the network connection; a running local source alone is not proof that YouTube is receiving the broadcast.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer and home connection to remain on, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload the Minecraft archive, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud service loops the video, so your computer can be off. Each slot streams the uploaded quality as-is, up to 4K 60fps, for one flat price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. For a Minecraft archive, you still need the relevant rights for the video and audio, and YouTube’s content and monetization rules still apply. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
