You can run a 24/7 Tamil Carnatic music YouTube channel by clearing the rights to every recording, preparing a continuous program, creating a YouTube Live event, and sending it from FFmpeg to YouTube’s ingest server. FFmpeg can loop a prepared file indefinitely, but it does not make the computer, internet connection, or stream failure-proof—and a successful broadcast does not by itself grant music rights or guarantee monetization.
1. Clear the rights to the music and visuals
Before building the stream, confirm that you have permission for each sound recording and every visual element you plan to transmit, including artwork, video, and lyrics. A traditional composition may be old, but a modern performance and its master recording can have separate rights. Confirm that the permission covers YouTube livestreaming, the territories and duration you intend, and monetization if you plan to pursue it. Rights depend on the specific works and recordings; there is no blanket clearance for Tamil Carnatic music.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and persistent matched content can interrupt or terminate it. If you have a license, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist: YouTube warns that even licensed streams may be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.
Keep a rights log with the recording title, performer, rights owner or licensor, permission scope, expiry date if applicable, and confirmation of any Content ID allowlisting. A license to transmit a recording and eligibility to monetize a channel are separate questions.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Prepare a continuous program
Start with a short, fully cleared program and test the repeat point before committing to a long-running broadcast. Check the start and end of each file, audio levels, gaps, transitions, and consistent video dimensions. Keep a copy of the source media and the rights log somewhere separate from the machine running the stream.
For one prepared video file, FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option repeats the input indefinitely. It does not create a multi-track scheduler, randomized rotation, smooth crossfades, or track metadata. Those features require a separate playout or playlist design. See the FFmpeg command-line documentation.
3. Create the YouTube Live event
- Activate live streaming in advance. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live and complete any required setup. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Create or schedule the stream. In Live Control Room, create a stream or schedule one. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that event.
- Protect the key. Treat it like a password: do not put it in public scripts, screenshots, or shared logs. If exposed, regenerate it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Connect FFmpeg and inspect the preview. Enter the RTMPS ingest URL and stream key in the command or encoder configuration. Once FFmpeg sends data, check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages, then start the event as the selected Studio workflow requires.
YouTube’s API documentation describes a 24/7 live-feed configuration and distinguishes the broadcast (the YouTube video) from the stream (the encoder connection). An ordinary creator can use Studio; the API workflow is not required. See the YouTube Live Streaming API guide and YouTube’s encoder setup help.

4. Set FFmpeg’s video, audio, and connection options
Use YouTube’s current ingest recommendations as a starting point, then test with representative media and your actual upload connection. For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps. Its encoder guidance recommends CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds), AAC or MP3 audio, and RTMPS for encryption in transit. YouTube supports H.264, H.265, and AV1 video ingestion and frame rates up to 60 fps; choose settings your host and upload link can sustain. The recommendations are not a guarantee of stability. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor a static or low-motion music program, 1080p30 H.264 is a reasonable initial profile if the computer and connection sustain it. If they do not, choose a lower resolution and bitrate from YouTube’s table. Run an upload speed test and monitor Live Control Room’s health panel during a representative test.
This illustrative command loops one video file and sends H.264 video and AAC audio. It is a starting example, not a tested command or an official YouTube recipe:

-f flv "rtmps://YOUR_YOUTUBE_INGEST_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
- Replace the URL and key placeholders with the exact RTMPS ingest URL and stream key from Studio. Do not share a real key.
- This simple command assumes the input file contains both the intended video and audio streams. An audio-only source needs a video stream created and the audio mapped deliberately.
-g 60at 30 fps corresponds to a two-second keyframe interval. Check that the input frame rate and chosen output settings match your intended profile.- Confirm that your installed FFmpeg build includes
libx264, then test the complete command. Options and input mapping can vary with the media and FFmpeg build; consult the documentation matching your installation.
YouTube Help’s instruction is simple: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
5. Keep the stream recoverable
A loop flag only repeats media while FFmpeg is running and connected. Power loss, a network outage, host overload, a damaged file, a changed stream key, or a YouTube-side interruption can still stop the feed. Test the actual machine under sustained load, and set up process supervision, log rotation, alerts, and a restart procedure appropriate to its operating system. Keep credentials out of logs and make sure someone can respond to alerts.

6. Plan archives separately from continuous transmission
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not promise a full archived replay of a continuous 24/7 broadcast. Decide whether you need local recording, scheduled shorter broadcasts, or no complete replay, and verify current Studio behavior before relying on a particular archive workflow. The API guide’s 24/7 feed use case does not change the archive guidance. See YouTube’s encoder setup help.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.7. Treat monetization as a separate review
Technical success and permission to broadcast do not ensure YouTube Partner Program approval. YouTube’s monetization policy applies to live streams and expects original, authentic content; repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible. A channel that has permission to retransmit recordings may still face a separate reused-content or originality review. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
The current YPP page lists full ad-revenue eligibility as 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the preceding 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days, alongside other requirements and channel review. Eligibility criteria can change; check YouTube’s YPP eligibility page when applying. Meeting thresholds is not a promise of approval.

8. Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Studio shows no incoming stream | Incorrect ingest URL or key, live activation still pending, or FFmpeg failed to connect. | Compare the command’s RTMPS URL and key with the current Studio event, check FFmpeg’s error output, and confirm first-time activation is complete. |
| Preview appears, but the event is not public | The encoder connection is active, but the Studio workflow still requires starting the event. | Check Live Control Room and start the broadcast if prompted by the selected event setup. |
| Stream health reports instability or drops | Upload capacity varies, the host is overloaded, or the connection to ingest is failing. | Test upload speed, lower the resolution/bitrate if needed, inspect host load, and monitor YouTube’s health panel during a representative test. |
| Broadcast is interrupted after a music match | Content ID detected third-party material; a license may not be reflected in allowlisting. | Review the match and contact the rights holder about channel allowlisting. A license alone may not prevent interruption. |
| FFmpeg exits or the program stops repeating | Process failure, unreadable media, host restart, or network failure. | Read the local FFmpeg logs, validate the input file, and use process supervision and an alert/restart procedure. |
| The full 24/7 stream is not available as a replay | YouTube’s automatic archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, not a guaranteed full-day archive. | Plan local capture or shorter scheduled broadcasts if a replay is required, and verify current Studio behavior. |
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload the prepared program, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay powered on at home; it streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed, and it streams to YouTube. For a Tamil music channel, cloud hosting does not replace music clearance, Content ID coordination, or YouTube monetization review. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
