You can use FFmpeg to loop a rights-cleared Hindi ghazal playlist, encode its audio and video, and send it to YouTube Live. The work has three parts: prepare and test the media, configure YouTube’s ingest settings, then keep the FFmpeg process and its host monitored. FFmpeg does not grant music rights or guarantee that a stream will remain online, and the exact command depends on your files and installed build.
How the continuous stream is put together
Think of the channel as a chain of separate components:
- Media: audio recordings you are authorized to stream, plus a visual such as a still image or video loop.
- FFmpeg: reads and loops the inputs, encodes audio and video, and sends the resulting stream to YouTube.
- YouTube Live: a broadcast and an ingest stream must be configured in Live Control Room or through the Live Streaming API. These are related but distinct resources; the LiveStreams API reference describes the stream resource and its health status.
- A host and operator: a computer or server runs FFmpeg. A continuous setup also needs monitoring and a recovery plan for process, network, or host failures.
YouTube’s API documentation describes a 24/7 broadcast scenario, but that is not a promise of indefinite availability or confirmation that every channel is eligible. Check your channel’s current Live access and YouTube policies before building around continuous prerecorded music.
Prepare the ghazal playlist and visuals
Clear the rights before uploading
Confirm that you have permission for both the sound recording and the underlying composition, as well as any image or video used on screen. A track being available online does not establish permission to rebroadcast it. Keep records of licenses or permissions and check YouTube’s current copyright and live-stream rules; technical compatibility is not rights clearance.

Build a representative playlist
Organize the recordings in the order you want viewers to hear them. Check that the files open, sound levels are consistent, and the start and end of each track do not produce unwanted silence or abrupt cuts. If you use a visual loop, confirm you have rights to it and that it plays cleanly alongside the audio. Test transitions across the actual files: differing durations, formats, and timestamps can affect looping and synchronization.
Choose YouTube ingest settings
YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP, for encoder workflows. Its encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 as video codec options, and AAC or MP3 for audio in RTMP/RTMPS workflows. Follow YouTube’s current compatibility guidance for the encoder and output format you select.

These are recommendations, not a universal preset. Confirm current settings on YouTube’s encoder settings page, which also provides bitrate guidance by resolution and frame rate. Run an upload speed test and choose settings your connection can sustain steadily; do not select a bitrate solely because it appears in a table.

Configure YouTube Live and FFmpeg
Create the broadcast and obtain ingest details
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and confirm that live streaming is available for your channel. Review the current rules that apply to your account and this type of prerecorded music stream.
- Create or schedule the broadcast and configure its visibility and other stream details in YouTube. In the stream settings, obtain the ingest URL and stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it, commit it to a public script repository, or include it in screenshots.
- Use FFmpeg to read your media, apply the looping and encoding choices you have tested, and send the output to YouTube’s RTMPS ingest endpoint. Keep the stream key out of public logs and shared command histories where possible.
- Start the encoder and verify that YouTube receives data and reports a healthy stream before starting or scheduling the broadcast for viewers.
There is no single FFmpeg command that can be responsibly prescribed for every playlist: input formats, audio and video durations, chosen encoders, timestamps, installed FFmpeg version, and output muxer all matter. Consult the official FFmpeg documentation for the options supported by your installed build, then test the exact input files and output configuration. Test before making the channel continuous
Run a private or otherwise non-public test using audio and motion representative of the final channel. YouTube specifically recommends testing with similar audio and motion to the planned stream and monitoring stream health.
- Confirm YouTube receives video and audio and that the stream health indicator stays acceptable.
- Listen for clipping, silence, uneven loudness, abrupt playlist boundaries, and audio-video drift.
- Check the visual at the intended resolution and frame rate, including after it loops.
- Watch the stream through at least one full playlist cycle if practical, since a clean first minute does not verify loop behavior.
- Confirm that your upload connection remains stable at the selected bitrate and that the host has enough storage and capacity for the media and process.
Do not announce an unattended channel until you have tested restart behavior and know how you will detect a stalled or disconnected stream.

Keep FFmpeg running unattended
For a personal-computer setup, the machine, FFmpeg process, and internet connection must remain available. Sleep, reboot, power loss, or a network interruption can stop delivery. A VPS can keep the process independent of your home computer, but it adds recurring hosting costs and requires Linux administration, file storage, monitoring, and a plan for process or host failure. Neither approach guarantees uninterrupted streaming.
One community-documented pattern uses an Ubuntu VPS, local playlist files, looping FFmpeg inputs, and a systemd service. It is an architectural example, not official YouTube guidance or an uptime guarantee: 24/7 YouTube Stream setup and operations notes. Consult the systemd and FFmpeg documentation for your own environment before adopting that pattern.
Separate process recovery from stream recovery
A service supervisor can restart a process that exits, but that alone does not prove the encoder is sending valid media or that YouTube has resumed the broadcast. Monitor both the host/process and YouTube stream health. The LiveStreams API describes a health status that can include noData; treat a running process and a healthy ingest as separate checks.

Plan how you will respond to an expired or incorrect stream key, lost network access, exhausted storage, failed media input, or a host reboot. Test the recovery path rather than assuming that a service restart will restore every broadcast state.

Troubleshooting common failures

Cost and operational trade-offs
Running FFmpeg on a home computer avoids a separate VPS bill but requires the computer, network, and power to remain available. A VPS introduces recurring hosting expense and administration, while moving the process off the home machine. In either DIY arrangement, account for storage, upload capacity, monitoring, and time spent recovering failures; no current official US retail listing was published for a particular host or price.

No. The host, network, encoder, and YouTube ingest can each fail; monitoring and tested recovery reduce operational risk but do not guarantee availability.
