You can stream recorded Punjabi Gurbani Kirtan on YouTube Live by sending the videos through an encoder: software on a computer, a hardware encoder, or a hosted service that loops prerecorded videos. Before going live, enable live streaming on a verified channel, confirm you have the rights for every recording, configure and test the feed, and plan for interruptions. YouTube’s guidance does not establish that one stream can run indefinitely or that a continuous 24-hour feed will produce one complete archive.
Before you start: channel access, recordings and rights
Enable YouTube Live in advance
Your channel must be verified and free of live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until the day you intend to start. You can schedule a stream in advance if you want to share its watch page before broadcasting. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
Confirm rights for every recording
Check that your permission covers the actual use: streaming the recording live, the relevant territories, and any archive or replay that YouTube makes available. Having a copy of a Kirtan recording, or permission to upload it, does not by itself establish that you have all these rights. YouTube’s live-stream terms put responsibility for necessary rights, including music licensing rights, on the person providing the live content.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party material. An unresolved match can interrupt or terminate the feed, including by replacing it with a placeholder. Even if you have a license, ask the rights holder whether your channel needs to be added to its Content ID allowlist; a license does not automatically prevent a match from disrupting the stream. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Choose how to send the recorded videos
YouTube receives an encoder feed for a live stream. For prerecorded Kirtan, the encoder plays and sends the video rather than capturing a live camera scene. YouTube describes software encoders, standalone hardware encoders, and cloud tools for prerecorded streaming; its listings are not endorsements. Confirm current compatibility, features, costs and terms before choosing.
| Route | What it involves | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo, hosted cloud service | Upload videos, add your YouTube stream key once, and start the stream; the service loops the uploaded videos from the cloud. | Does not require your computer or home connection to stay on. It is a YouTube-only service for uploaded videos, not a camera broadcast. See StreamNeo. |
| Software encoder on a computer | YouTube lists OBS, an open-source software encoder. The computer plays and encodes the feed. | Uses a computer you maintain and depends on its power, network connection and encoder setup. YouTube’s pages do not establish a minimum computer specification. |
| Hardware encoder | A standalone device encodes and sends the video feed. YouTube supports hardware encoders and recommends professional-grade hardware for higher-production-value events. | Requires compatible equipment and a separate device workflow. No particular model or model-level performance is established here. |
Pick based on who will maintain the stream
A computer or hardware encoder gives you a self-managed setup, but someone must plan for the equipment and connection it relies on. A hosted service moves the video playback and looping to the cloud. Compare the ongoing operator workload, compatibility and current terms—not just the initial setup.

Configure video, audio and network capacity
Match encoder settings to your upload connection
YouTube’s encoder guidance calls for RTMP or RTMPS, H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; the keyframe interval must not exceed four seconds. YouTube also publishes bitrate recommendations by resolution. Choose a resolution and its corresponding bitrate based on measured upload capacity, then test using representative Kirtan audio and video motion. See YouTube’s encoder settings.
Do not set the bitrate from download speed or a best-case speed-test result alone. YouTube recommends keeping 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. Measure the actual upload connection where the encoder will run and leave that margin for variation; a connection that cannot sustain the chosen bitrate can lead to buffering or a dropped feed. Its encoder settings page provides the resolution-specific recommendations.

Check audio and visual continuity
Listen for clean, continuous audio and watch for black frames, unexpected gaps, or transitions that interrupt the devotional program. Use representative segments from the playlist, including the longest or largest files you expect to include. A successful short test does not prove that a longer operation will remain uninterrupted.
Set up and start the YouTube Live feed
- Open Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one, using a title and description that accurately identify the Kirtan program.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream settings, copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s destination fields. Treat the key like a password; do not publish or share it. YouTube explains key management in its stream settings and key security guidance.
- Build the video sequence. Add the recordings in the intended order and configure the encoder or service to loop them if you want a recurring sequence. Check that the playlist does not include material for which you lack streaming rights.
- Apply the encoder settings. Select RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, CBR, the chosen resolution and bitrate, and a two-second keyframe interval (never more than four seconds), as supported by your encoder.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Confirm that YouTube receives video and audio and that the preview shows the expected source before making the stream public.
- Go live, then verify the viewer experience. Check the public watch page and playback on a mobile device as well as the encoder or Live Control Room status.
YouTube recommends setting up encoders at least two hours before an event and starting them at least 15 minutes beforehand. Those are event-preparation recommendations, not a guarantee of continuous operation. Its live-stream tips also emphasize preparation and monitoring.

Plan the 24/7 operation and archive carefully
Do not assume one stream or archive has no time limit
YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that one uninterrupted feed can remain live indefinitely, or that a 24-hour continuous stream will be saved as one complete archive. If you need an archive, confirm the current YouTube workflow and plan how you will preserve or divide the program rather than relying on a single 24-hour recording.
Monitor and prepare for recovery
Keep an eye on stream health, audio, video and the public playback page. A network disruption or encoder failure can break the stream. Decide in advance who will respond, how they will restart the encoder or service, and how they will check that the restarted feed is reaching YouTube. No setup described here guarantees uninterrupted uptime.

For any route, test the actual intended playlist and operating conditions before relying on it.
Troubleshooting common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| Live streaming is unavailable | Live access has not been enabled, activation is still pending, or the channel has a restriction. | Verify the channel and its live-stream status, enable streaming in advance, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. |
| YouTube receives no video or audio | The encoder has not started, the URL or key is incorrect, or the selected source is not playing. | Check the encoder destination against Live Control Room, confirm the correct stream key, and inspect the preview before going live. |
| Buffering, unstable playback or a dropped feed | Available upload capacity is insufficient or varying, or the connection has been interrupted. | Measure upload capacity at the encoder location, lower resolution or bitrate to a supported recommendation, preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and check the connection and encoder status. |
| A live stream is interrupted by a copyright match | YouTube detected third-party material, or the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel. | Review rights for the exact recordings and uses, contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting, and resolve any match through the appropriate rights process. |
| The archive is missing or incomplete | The stream may not meet YouTube’s stated automatic-archive condition, or the continuous-feed workflow may not create one complete archive. | Use YouTube’s current archive guidance and do not assume a 24-hour feed will be saved as one complete video. |
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recorded videos, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud loops the uploaded videos, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the files as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers; it also attempts automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. You still need the rights to the recordings, and a YouTube Content ID match can still affect a live feed.
