For protected music, YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with the label or distributor. Ask explicitly about live use, saved replays, relevant territories, and allowlisting: YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and YouTube for Artists’ guidance for music channels.
No general rule can establish the rights status of a particular Marathi bhakti geet recording. If you cannot verify permission for a track, leave it out until you can.

2. Make sure the channel can go live
- Verify the YouTube channel and confirm it has had no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, as described in YouTube’s live-stream tips.
- Enable live streaming ahead of launch. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder setup instructions. YouTube for Artists likewise advises enabling a first music-channel stream at least 24 hours beforehand.
- Decide whether you want a public stream, an unlisted test, or a private test before the public launch. Check the current audience and scheduling options in YouTube Studio when creating the broadcast.
3. Choose an encoder and prepare the feed
You need a stable audio/video feed sent to YouTube. YouTube supports both software encoders and dedicated hardware encoders; a hardware unit is not mandatory. Consider hardware when you need dedicated equipment or particular external audio/video connections. For a stream made from completed recordings, prepare the song playlist and a visual you own or have permission to use. Check that the playlist starts, transitions cleanly, and does not run into blank or silent gaps.
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance for resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate. Choose settings your upload connection can sustain, and test with representative audio and visuals rather than assuming a configuration will work continuously.

4. Connect the encoder to YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule the broadcast, setting its title, visibility, and other details for the event.
- In the stream settings, copy the stream URL (server URL) and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the broadcast.
- Open your encoder’s streaming settings and paste in the server URL and stream key. Select the prepared audio/video source and the quality settings you chose using YouTube’s current guidance.
- Start sending the feed from the encoder. Wait for the Live Control Room preview, then check that both picture and sound are correct before starting the public broadcast in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s encoder setup steps if the controls differ in your encoder.
5. Test and monitor the broadcast
Run a private or unlisted test with representative songs, transitions, and visuals. Check the preview and listen for silence, clipping, missing tracks, or abrupt changes. Confirm that the local recording, if enabled, is being saved correctly. During the public stream, keep the encoder dashboard and YouTube’s stream-health information under observation; also view and listen to the public stream from another device. YouTube’s live-stream tips and streaming tips recommend testing, monitoring, and leaving upload bandwidth headroom. The latter recommends 20% upload bandwidth headroom.
Have a person or recovery plan ready for a lost connection, encoder failure, rights warning, or playlist that reaches its end. Monitoring and preparation help you respond, but YouTube’s guidance does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 uptime.

6. Plan session lengths and keep a backup recording
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24-hour broadcast therefore is not a dependable way to create a YouTube replay. If replays matter, divide the schedule into shorter sessions and keep a local recording as a separate backup. Very long streams may also have limited or unavailable DVR rewind. Check YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance when planning the schedule.
