Yes. A YouTube channel owner can upload custom membership badge artwork in YouTube Studio, and membership badges appear beside members’ names in that channel’s live chat. YouTube’s help pages describe live chats generally, but do not set out a separate rule or guarantee for continuously running 24/7 streams.
How custom membership badges work
The creator chooses the artwork; members receive the badge associated with their active paid membership duration. YouTube describes the badge as a public-facing membership benefit shown next to a member’s channel name in comments and live chats on that channel. The badge is not an individually assigned image for each member.
A channel can use custom artwork, YouTube’s default badges, or a mixture of both across its loyalty badge slots. YouTube lists these durations: New, 1 month, 2 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, and 5 years. The duration reflects active paid membership: YouTube’s example says that someone who joined a year ago but paid for nine of the past twelve months receives the nine-month tenure treatment. Upload badges in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, open YouTube Studio.
- Go to Earn → Memberships → Loyalty badges.
- Upload custom badge images for the loyalty slots you want to customize. You can also keep YouTube’s defaults in some slots.
- Check that each image meets YouTube’s file requirements: JPEG or PNG, under 1 MB, and at least 32 × 32 pixels.
YouTube displays badges at 16 Ă— 16 pixels in live chat, and at 14 Ă— 14 pixels in comments and Posts. Because chat badges are small, use simple shapes and strong contrast so the artwork remains recognizable at the displayed size; this is practical design advice, not an additional YouTube requirement. What viewers see in a 24/7 stream chat
When a channel member participates in that channel’s live chat, the membership badge appears beside the member’s name according to the channel’s badge setup and the member’s active paid tenure. YouTube’s help page describes the benefit as an “exclusive public-facing membership badge” shown next to a member’s channel name in comments and live chats on that channel. The cited YouTube documentation does not discuss a special 24/7-stream badge behavior. It supports the general live-chat behavior, but does not state a distinct continuous-stream exception or offer a separate 24/7-specific guarantee.

Keep the badge artwork distinct from overlays and alerts
Third-party integrations can add membership information to stream overlays or live alerts, but those production elements are separate from YouTube’s native badge beside a member’s chat name.
