You can pin a membership reminder from the live-chat controls while a YouTube stream is running; it is a chat action, not a broadcast restart. On desktop, open the message’s More menu and choose Pin. In the YouTube Android app, tap More and then Pin. YouTube allows one pinned message at a time, and only the creator can pin.
Prepare the reminder before posting
Write a short message that explains why viewers might join and where they can find accurate membership details. For example: “Enjoying the stream? Join the channel to support it and see the membership perks: [channel membership link or instructions].” Check the destination and perk information in YouTube Studio before posting; the correct link and offer depend on your channel.
Pin the message during the live stream
On desktop
- Open the live stream’s chat window while the stream is running.
- Post the reminder, or locate the message you want to pin.
- Open More for that message and select Pin.
- Check the chat to confirm that the message is now pinned.
On Android
- Open the live stream in the YouTube app while it is live.
- Post the reminder, or locate the message you want to pin.
- Tap More for the message, then tap Pin.
- Check the chat to confirm the current pinned message.
YouTube’s help instructions describe pinning in live chat during a stream or Premiere. They do not provide a separate procedure for continuous streams. The available controls may differ by device or app version, so use the options shown on the creator’s account. See YouTube Help for computer live chat and Android live chat.
Know who can pin and what happens to the pin
The creator can pin their own message or a viewer’s message. Moderators and viewers cannot pin. Only one message can be pinned at a time; pinning another replaces the current pin. If the creator wants to change the reminder later, the creator must pin the replacement.

YouTube’s instructions do not specify how long a creator-pinned message stays visible, whether it persists through a reconnect or stream handoff, or an automatic or scheduled way to rotate reminders. Do not promise viewers that the reminder will remain pinned indefinitely. The instructions describe a live-chat action, not a stream-control operation; they do not state that pinning interrupts playback.
Do not confuse a reminder with YouTube’s new-member announcement
A creator-authored reminder is promotional copy the creator chooses to pin. Separately, when someone joins during a live stream, YouTube displays an automatic new-member announcement; YouTube Help says the new member’s profile picture is pinned at the top of chat for five minutes. That five-minute period applies to the profile-picture pin, not to a creator-pinned reminder. See YouTube Help on channel memberships.
