What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Use a music track your store owns or a license that explicitly permits livestream use in the territories you serve. In OBS, loop one local audio file with a Media Source, or play a planned sequence with a VLC Video source and Loop Playlist enabled. Test the loop in the live output before the promotion: a repeatable playback setup does not by itself make a track copyright-safe or guarantee a seamless transition.
Choose music cleared for a livestream
YouTube makes the provider responsible for obtaining the rights needed to use music in live content, including relevant rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Its livestream terms say providers must have the necessary rights for exploitation of live content on Google services worldwide. Consider rights for the archived version as well as the live broadcast.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even if you have licensed a track, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
YouTube Creator Music does not currently support licensing for live content. A license or revenue-sharing option intended for an uploaded long-form video does not establish permission to use that music in a livestream. YouTube points creators to its Audio Library, original music, or third-party music with terms checked for the intended use. A label such as “free” or “royalty-free” is not sufficient by itself: verify livestream use, territory coverage, archived-video restrictions, and Content ID handling.

Set up a looping music source in OBS
Option 1: Loop one audio file
- Choose a locally stored track whose rights cover the promotion and intended territories. Keep the license, invoice, written permission, and any allowlisting confirmation with your stream notes.
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the promo scene and select the audio file. OBS documents MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV support for this source.
- Enable Loop in the source properties. Choose a file with an ending and repeat point that suit the promo; the track will restart when playback reaches its end.
- Confirm the source is active in the scene that will be live, then set a stable music level using the OBS audio mixer. This is a manual level-setting step, not automatic normalization.
Option 2: Loop a playlist of tracks
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source to appear.
- Add a VLC Video source to the promo scene and build a playlist from the cleared audio tracks.
- Enable Loop Playlist. Leave Shuffle Playlist off if viewers should hear the tracks in a predictable order.
- Check the playlist order and listen through track changes. The available controls do not guarantee gapless transitions between arbitrary files.
Test the music before the promotion
- Use an unlisted or otherwise private test when appropriate. Confirm that the music is present in the viewer-facing stream output, not only in your local monitoring.
- Listen at the start, at a track ending, and at the playlist wrap or file restart. Check the actual files and setup for pauses, abrupt cuts, or unwanted silence.
- Check the stream preview and listen to the music level before going public. During an encoder stream, YouTube recommends continuous monitoring of audio and video quality.
- While live, watch the OBS audio meter and viewer-facing output. Check YouTube Studio for warnings, claims, or interruptions.
Choose the setup that fits the promo
| Setup | Best fit | Trade-offs to check |
|---|---|---|
| One local file in OBS Media Source | A simple, repeatable music bed | Easy to operate; playback restarts after the file ends. Check that its ending and restart work for the promotion. |
| VLC playlist source in OBS | A planned sequence of multiple tracks | VLC must be installed. Test playlist order and transitions; loop and shuffle are separate controls. |
| Third-party music service or catalog | A store that needs to license music | Check explicit livestream permission, territory coverage, archived-video use, Content ID handling, and whether the channel can be allowlisted. Do not assume a generic “royalty-free” label covers this use. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep a YouTube promo stream running around the clock, StreamNeo keeps uploaded videos looping from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams the upload as made, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. Music rights still need to cover your use, and a channel may need Content ID allowlisting. Start your free StreamNeo day.
