To check whether a specific 24/7 YouTube stream is reaching viewers in India, open YouTube Studio, select that stream in Analytics’ Advanced Mode, and filter the report by geography. This is processed, historical data—not a live country-by-country counter. While the stream is running, Live Control Room shows stream health and total concurrent viewers, but not their countries.
Check whether the stream is live and how many people are watching now
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room while the broadcast is running.
- Review Stream status and any health messages. A healthy incoming feed indicates YouTube is receiving the stream; it does not show that anyone is watching.
- Check Concurrent viewers in real-time analytics for the number of people watching simultaneously at that moment. This is the overall audience, not an India-specific count.
YouTube lists other real-time metrics such as duration, likes, chat rate, views, and estimated average view duration. None of these identifies viewers’ countries. YouTube’s live-stream metrics guidance describes the available live metrics.
Check India reach for one particular stream
- In YouTube Studio, open Analytics and select Advanced Mode.
- Select the video for the specific stream. For a continuous stream, make sure you have selected the correct stream video rather than relying on channel-wide analytics.
- Choose a date range that covers the period you want to assess.
- Apply a Geography filter and look for India in the report. If the report is sparse, try widening the reporting period or removing other filters and breakdowns.
This report is processed analytics, not a real-time country counter. YouTube documents selecting videos and filtering by geography in Advanced Mode; its geography reporting guidance explains limitations on geography data.

The Audience tab’s Top geographies report is channel-level context: YouTube says it can include watch time from Shorts, videos, live streams, and other uploaded content. To assess one stream, use its selected-video report instead. YouTube describes Top geographies as showing “which geographies have the most watch time for your channel” in its audience geography guidance.

Review the stream after it ends
For a post-stream check, go to YouTube Studio > Content > Live, open the stream, and review its Analytics and Engagement reports. YouTube says video-level concurrent-viewer metrics become available within minutes after a stream ends. Live content analytics can also show peak and average concurrent viewers and discovery sources. These are useful measures of the stream’s overall performance; for India-specific reach, use the selected-video geography report.
You can export an Advanced Mode report at video or channel level. For a repeatable record, save the selected video, date range, geography filter, and metrics used with each export so later comparisons use matching periods and definitions. Understand a missing or small India result
- A missing India row does not prove there were no viewers in India. YouTube may limit geography data when it does not meet privacy or system thresholds. The thresholds are unpublished and may change.
- Visible rows may not add up to the report total. When data is limited, YouTube may show only top rows.
- Try a broader report. YouTube suggests extending the period beyond 30 days or removing filters and breakdowns when geography data is constrained. This is troubleshooting guidance, not a promised processing deadline.
- Check visibility settings. YouTube does not show geography data for private or unlisted videos, regardless of traffic.
- Keep timing in mind. Geography is not available in real-time reports, so it cannot provide a live India viewer count.
If the report still does not show India, describe the finding as “India-specific data is not available in the report,” rather than “there are zero Indian viewers.” Consider it alongside the separate signals of stream status, overall concurrent viewers, and post-stream trends. YouTube’s guidance on limited geography data covers these reporting constraints.
Keep a useful record of India reach
For comparisons across days or weeks, use the same stream video, date-range approach, and report settings each time. Record the geography result alongside the total and the reporting period, and note when India-specific data is unavailable rather than treating a missing row as zero. Channel audience measures can provide context, but they should not be substituted for a selected-video geography report. YouTube’s monthly audience metric is calculated daily over the preceding rolling 28 days, so it is channel context rather than a real-time statistic for one stream.
