First find which list contains the repeats: OBS’s VLC Video Source playlist, a playlist in YouTube Studio, or viewer-created YouTube Clips. For repeats in OBS, open the source properties, remove duplicate items manually, and leave Shuffle Playlist off for a tour that must play in order. Turn Loop Playlist off if the sequence should not restart after its final item.
Identify where the duplicates are
- OBS playback playlist: The same video or tour segment appears more than once in the VLC Video Source media list.
- YouTube playlist: The repeated entries are in a playlist managed in YouTube Studio. This is separate from the playlist OBS plays during the broadcast.
- YouTube Clips: Viewers have created short excerpts from eligible videos or livestreams. These are not entries in either playback playlist.
OBS describes its VLC Video Source as allowing a playlist of items, similar to an image slideshow. Its documented settings do not promise to find or block duplicate entries. OBS Project’s Media Sources guide
Remove duplicate items from an OBS tour playlist
- Select the scene. In OBS, select the scene used for the property tour and identify the source playing the sequence. The VLC Video Source appears only when VLC is installed, according to the OBS media-source documentation.
- Open the source properties. Select the VLC Video Source and open its properties to inspect the media list.
- Check every entry. Look for repeated filenames or URLs, as well as copies of the same segment saved under slightly different names. This is a manual check; the documented controls do not provide automatic duplicate detection.
- Remove extra entries. Delete the items that should play only once, then check that the remaining files are in the intended tour order.
- Keep Shuffle Playlist off. OBS lists Shuffle Playlist as off by default. Leave it off when viewers should see rooms or tour segments in a planned sequence.
- Choose whether to loop. Loop Playlist is on by default in OBS. Turn it off if playback should not return to the first item after the last one. This setting controls whether the sequence repeats; it does not remove duplicate entries already in the list.
If the installed OBS version uses different labels or defaults, check the options in that version’s source properties; the documented defaults may change.
Clean up a YouTube Studio playlist separately
If the repeats are in a channel playlist rather than the OBS source, edit that playlist in YouTube Studio. YouTube Help documents adding videos and reordering an existing playlist by dragging videos up or down. Review its entries and remove repeats as needed; the reviewed help page does not describe automatic duplicate detection. See YouTube Help: Manage playlists in YouTube Studio.

Do not confuse YouTube Clips with playlist entries
YouTube Clips are public excerpts viewers can create from eligible videos or livestreams. YouTube describes them as 5–60 seconds long. Disabling “Allow viewers to clip my content” controls viewer-created excerpts; it does not remove repeated videos from an OBS or YouTube playlist.
YouTube says Clips from a livestream appear after the stream ends and uploads as a video, and creating Clips from a livestream requires DVR. To manage viewer clipping, use the channel’s advanced settings in YouTube Studio. These controls concern Clips, not the items OBS plays. Details: YouTube Help: Learn about managing Clips.

Troubleshoot repeats that remain
- A segment still plays twice: Reopen the VLC Video Source properties and check the full list, including entries with slightly different filenames or URLs.
- The tour starts over at the end: Turn off Loop Playlist. It is enabled by default in the documented OBS settings.
- The right clips play in the wrong order: Turn off Shuffle Playlist and arrange the media entries in the desired order.
- A duplicate remains on the channel page: Check the YouTube Studio playlist itself; editing the OBS source does not edit a YouTube playlist.
- You meant viewer-created excerpts: Change the channel’s viewer-clipping setting if desired. That setting will not clean either playback list.
