For a new OBS setup, use Waveform, add its visualizer source to your jazz-stream scene, and direct it to the audio source playing the program. Then preview the full scene and test the OBS-to-YouTube signal before relying on it for a continuous broadcast. A visualizer makes the music visible; it does not keep the computer, connection, or stream online by itself.
Choose a visualizer plugin
Waveform is the stronger starting point for a new installation: its OBS resource page lists spectrum graphs, peak and RMS meters, and waveform displays, with versions for 64-bit Windows, macOS, and Linux. The listing identifies Waveform 1.9.1, updated July 14, 2026, and a minimum OBS version of 27.0.0. Check the resource page for current compatibility and installation instructions before downloading or updating.
Spectralizer is an older option for creators maintaining an existing scene. Its listing identifies version 1.3.4, last updated January 28, 2021, supports Windows and Linux, and requires OBS 24.0.0 or later. Its author says it is deprecated in favor of Waveform, which has more options; the listing does not list macOS support.
Add and configure the visualizer in OBS
- Check compatibility. Confirm your operating system and installed OBS version meet the plugin resource’s requirements.
- Install Waveform. Follow the download and installation instructions on the Waveform resource page. Restart OBS if the installer or plugin instructions require it. Installation details can differ by operating system, so use the instructions for your platform rather than assuming a particular file path.
- Open the radio scene. In OBS, select the scene used for your jazz stream, then add the plugin visualizer as a source using the source-creation controls available in your installed version.
- Choose the program audio. In the visualizer’s properties, select the audio source that carries the jazz program, where source selection is available. If playback comes from a Media Source or another dedicated source, do not select an unrelated microphone or desktop audio input. Confirm the program source is active in the OBS audio mixer.
- Pick a display style and place it. Choose a spectrum, waveform, or meter style. Resize and position it over the background artwork so the motion is visible without hiding titles, logos, or other important information.
- Preview with the actual music source. Play representative jazz audio and confirm the visualizer responds to that program, stays visible at the intended stream resolution, and does not obstruct the artwork. This check verifies the scene behavior locally; it is not a substitute for checking YouTube’s received preview.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live and test the complete scene
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube and enter them in OBS’s stream settings, or use an available YouTube integration. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or include it in screenshots.
- Start an unlisted or otherwise suitable test. Start OBS and wait for the encoder signal to appear in YouTube’s preview. Use the same jazz playback source, visualizer scene, audio level, resolution, and frame rate you intend to broadcast.
- Check audio, picture, and health messages. Listen for silence, distortion, or clipping; verify the visualizer reacts to the music; and review YouTube’s preview, stream-health indicators, and messages. YouTube recommends testing ahead of time with similar audio and motion and monitoring health during the event. A successful test confirms only that the current signal reached YouTube; it cannot guarantee a future 24/7 run will never disconnect.
Set encoder quality for a sustainable stream
Choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain rather than selecting the highest available setting by default. YouTube recommends checking upload speed and testing with a signal like the intended broadcast. Its encoder settings guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), a recommended two-second keyframe interval (do not exceed four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Bitrate recommendations depend on codec and resolution. Examples in YouTube’s current table include:
| Output | AV1 or H.265 recommended video bitrate | H.264 recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 | 10 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 720p30 | 6 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
For stereo audio, YouTube lists 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps among its recommended advanced settings. These are YouTube’s published recommendations, not a measurement of your connection or a promise of uninterrupted delivery. Leave room for network variation and consult YouTube’s current table for the codec and output you actually use.

OBS notes that meeting its basic system requirements does not guarantee a computer can stream or record; CPU demand varies with encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. A visualizer adds scene work, so observe OBS’s rendering and encoding status during a representative test instead of treating minimum requirements as proof of all-day capacity. See OBS system requirements.
Plan for 24/7 operation and archiving separately
The plugin changes what OBS displays; it does not supply continuous playback, power, internet access, monitoring, or recovery after an encoder or network interruption. A local setup therefore depends on the playback source continuing to run, the computer and connection staying available, and someone having a way to detect and respond to problems. The plugin listing does not establish a failover design or uninterrupted-service guarantee.

YouTube’s encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not promise a continuous broadcast lasting longer than 12 hours will be saved as one uninterrupted video. Plan live continuity and archive needs as separate issues, and check YouTube’s current dashboard and policies before relying on a 24/7 archive.
YouTube’s encoder directory also lists Gyre and Upstream as cloud-based services for 24/7 streaming. That listing alone does not establish that either service can reproduce an OBS scene containing Waveform, or confirm current terms. Verify scene compatibility and service details directly before choosing one.

Or let it run in the cloud
If the priority is an always-on YouTube stream rather than keeping this OBS visualizer scene running on a local PC, StreamNeo is a cloud option for uploaded videos and playlists. The setup is: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. It does not stream a live camera or reproduce an OBS scene with the Waveform plugin, so it is not a like-for-like replacement when that live visualizer scene is essential.
- Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on for the cloud stream to keep running.
- Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot rather than separate quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required; the free day is one per account.
Every slot includes one always-on YouTube stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, and support from the StreamNeo team. Plans have the same product; only the billing period changes. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.

Keep the music rights and YouTube rules in view
A 24/7 jazz stream still needs appropriate rights to the recordings and compositions it broadcasts. A visualizer does not change the copyright status of the audio. Check YouTube’s current copyright and live-stream rules for the material you plan to use, and do not assume that a recording being available online means it is cleared for continuous rebroadcast. Likewise, a visualizer and long runtime do not by themselves establish eligibility for monetization; review YouTube’s current channel monetization policies before making revenue plans.
