How to Stream 4K Property Tours Continuously on YouTube Live

A practical guide to continuous 4K property-tour broadcasts on YouTube Live, from camera and encoder settings to prerecorded cloud playback and replay planning.

For a live, moving walkthrough, send a 4K camera feed through an encoder to YouTube Live. For a 24/7 showcase made from recorded tours, use a prerecorded-video workflow instead. The two can both appear as live broadcasts, but only the first shows a camera feed happening now. Choose the workflow first; then configure the stream around YouTube’s 4K settings and decide how you will preserve replays.

Choose what “continuously” means for your tour

There are two different ways to keep property tours available on a YouTube Live page. Your choice determines whether you need equipment and a reliable connection at the property.

Workflow What viewers see What it needs Best fit
Live camera plus encoder A current camera view, including movement through the property as it happens. A camera or capture source, an encoder, and a stable outbound internet connection at the property. A guided walkthrough or a live view of a property.
Cloud playback of recorded tours Previously recorded footage presented as a continuous broadcast. It is not a live camera view. A service that plays uploaded videos and a YouTube stream key. An always-on showcase assembled from existing tours.

YouTube’s verified-encoder directory includes Gyre for continuous 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos in Full HD and 4K. Check a provider’s current capabilities and terms before purchasing. StreamNeo is another YouTube-only cloud option for uploaded videos; its setup is covered below.

Check channel eligibility and prepare the broadcast

  1. Confirm live access. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before a scheduled tour.
  2. Choose a truthful title and description. If the footage is prerecorded, make that clear to viewers. A loop of recorded tours should not be presented as a live camera view of a property.
  3. Prepare the stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule the live stream, then locate its stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it publicly.
  4. Review rights and platform policies. Livestreams must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Confirm that you have permission for all footage, music, narration, and other material in the broadcast, and avoid using copyrighted music without the necessary rights.

Set the encoder for 4K

YouTube’s recommended bitrate depends on both frame rate and video codec. Select 2160p (4K), choose a frame rate supported by your camera and production, and match the encoder bitrate to the row below. YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video codecs, up to 60 fps.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Output Codec YouTube recommended bitrate Rate control and keyframes
2160p at 30 fps H.264 42 Mbps CBR; two-second keyframe interval recommended, never over four seconds.
2160p at 30 fps H.265/HEVC or AV1 30 Mbps CBR; two-second keyframe interval recommended, never over four seconds.
2160p at 60 fps H.264 50 Mbps CBR; two-second keyframe interval recommended, never over four seconds.
2160p at 60 fps H.265/HEVC or AV1 35 Mbps CBR; two-second keyframe interval recommended, never over four seconds.
  • Protocol: Use RTMP or RTMPS for ingest; YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport.
  • Latency: 4K/2160p streams use normal latency. YouTube does not make the low-latency optimization available for 4K.
  • Consistency matters: Keep the encoder output, stream configuration, and actual source aligned. A 60 fps setting is useful only if the production can supply that frame rate reliably.

Configure a live-camera property tour

  1. Connect the video source. Feed the camera or capture hardware into your encoder. YouTube’s encoder workflow supports external audio and video equipment, but it does not prescribe a particular camera model.
  2. Enter YouTube’s ingest details. In the encoder’s streaming or output settings, enter the stream URL and stream key from the YouTube Live Control Room event. Choose RTMPS where available.
  3. Set output format and bitrate. Select 2160p and the intended frame rate, then set the matching codec bitrate from the table. Set rate control to CBR and keyframes to every two seconds; do not exceed four seconds.
  4. Check the property’s upload connection. Measure outbound throughput at the actual streaming location, not just download speed. YouTube recommends roughly 20% upload headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. Include any simultaneous backup stream in that total.
  5. Test the complete production. Run a private or otherwise appropriate test using representative camera movement and the real audio setup. Inspect the preview in Live Control Room, watch stream-health indicators, and verify any encoder failover arrangement.
  6. Start the broadcast and monitor it. Keep an eye on YouTube’s stream health and the encoder’s output. If you are recording locally for a replay, confirm the file is growing and that it can be opened.

Plan around connection and archive limits

Leave room above the video bitrate

The bitrate in the settings table is the video recommendation, not a target for saturating the property’s entire upload connection. YouTube advises about 20% headroom over the total stream bitrate. Test from the same location and network path you will use on air: a fast download result does not establish that outbound capacity is sufficient.

Do not rely on a long broadcast as your only recording

YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, including 4K streams. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. For a continuous channel, keep a local recording or plan a separate replay workflow. Rotating broadcasts or publishing a separately edited and uploaded replay can help organize that archive, but neither approach guarantees YouTube will retain a particular live archive.

Troubleshoot common 4K stream problems

Symptom Likely checks What to do
Stream health reports instability or viewers see buffering. Outbound bandwidth, network congestion, and whether the total bitrate includes a backup stream. Test actual upload at the property, restore YouTube’s recommended headroom, and reduce the selected output load if the connection cannot sustain it.
The encoder cannot connect to YouTube. Stream URL, stream key, ingest protocol, and whether live streaming has been enabled for the channel. Copy the current event’s URL and key from Live Control Room, verify the channel is eligible, and allow for the first-time activation period if applicable.
4K low-latency mode is unavailable. The selected output is 2160p. This is an available-settings limitation for 4K, not a fault in the encoder; use normal latency or choose a lower resolution if low latency is essential.
The live page has no complete replay after a very long broadcast. Whether the broadcast exceeded 12 hours. Use a local recording or a separately managed replay plan rather than depending on automatic archiving for a long continuous stream.
Footage looks soft or motion is uneven despite selecting 4K. Camera source resolution and frame rate, encoder output settings, and whether the connection can sustain the chosen bitrate. Test the actual camera movement and audio arrangement before launch; verify that the source and encoder are producing the intended 2160p format and frame rate.
