To loop a wedding exhibition replay on YouTube Live, play the cleared video in an OBS Studio Media Source with Loop enabled, send OBS to a scheduled YouTube encoder stream, check the Live Control Room preview, then select Go live. OBS and YouTube document this workflow; it is not a claim that a particular setup has been tested. Menu labels can change, so verify them in the current interfaces.
Before you set up the stream
- Confirm rights first. Make sure you have permission to stream the recording and every element in it, including music, performances, and other third-party material. YouTube says live content providers must hold the necessary rights, including music licensing rights. A license by itself may not prevent a live interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and copyright guidance for live streams.
- Check the file and playback. Have the replay available as a local video file. OBS documents formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM. Preview the video and listen to its audio before the event.
- Plan the audience experience. Scheduling the YouTube event creates a watch page you can promote before the stream. Choose the privacy setting and event details that match your intended audience.
The cited YouTube guidance does not specify India-specific permits or music-licensing procedures for a wedding exhibition. Determine applicable permissions for the venue, recording, performers, and music with the relevant rights holders and local authorities; requirements depend on the circumstances.
Loop one replay file through OBS
- Add the video to an OBS scene. In OBS, select or create a scene, use Sources to add a Media Source, and select the local replay file in its properties. OBS’s Media Sources documentation describes supported media sources and file formats.
- Enable repeat playback. In the Media Source properties, turn on Loop. OBS says this setting restarts the file when playback completes and is off by default. Confirm the scene preview shows the right video, and check the audio meters while it plays.
- Schedule a YouTube encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using an encoder. Add the event title, privacy, and other details. Copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream settings. YouTube describes the key as password-like: keep it private and do not show it in a public screenshot or broadcast.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. Enter the stream URL and key in OBS’s streaming settings. Start streaming from OBS. Wait for YouTube Live Control Room to receive the encoder signal and show the preview.
- Check before going public. Verify the picture and sound in the incoming preview, then select Go live in Live Control Room when ready. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring audio and video before broadcasting; see its live streaming tips for computers.
- End the event deliberately. When the exhibition is finished, end the stream in Live Control Room and stop sending from OBS. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Confirm the resulting archive and its visibility in YouTube Studio.

Choose a single file or a playlist
For one exhibition replay, a Media Source with Loop enabled is the simplest fit. If you need to rotate several videos, OBS documents a separate VLC Video Source that can play a playlist; it requires VLC to be installed. Its Loop Playlist option is enabled by default according to OBS. Check the playlist order and transitions before sending it to YouTube.

Copyright, archiving, and DVR considerations
Clear the replay’s contents
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material such as copyrighted music, the broadcast can be interrupted or terminated. Licensed material can still trigger an interruption if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Resolve rights and allowlisting with the relevant rights holder before the exhibition, rather than relying on a last-minute appeal.
Do not confuse replay looping with viewer rewind
Looping repeats the file at the encoder; DVR is a separate YouTube viewer feature. YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable on very long streams beyond 12 hours, and viewers cannot seek back to before the live stream began. Streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but archiving and DVR are distinct experiences. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Troubleshoot before the audience arrives
- The replay stops instead of repeating: Open Media Source properties and check that Loop is enabled. OBS documents it as off by default.
- YouTube shows no incoming video: Confirm OBS is sending to the event’s stream URL with the matching stream key, and that the correct OBS scene is active. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room before selecting Go live.
- The preview has no sound: Check the Media Source audio meters and OBS audio routing while the file plays. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality before and during a broadcast.
- The stream is interrupted after it starts: Review the recording for third-party material and confirm the necessary rights. If you hold a license, ask the rights owner whether your channel needs to be allowlisted for Content ID.
- The archive or rewind does not meet expectations: Check stream duration and distinguish the post-event archive from DVR. YouTube’s stated automatic archive rule applies to streams under 12 hours; very long streams may have limited or unavailable DVR.
