Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Choose a Premiere if you want a shared start time, reminders and live chat around the prerecorded video. If the presenter will speak or interact in real time, schedule a live stream instead; YouTube may archive it for viewers afterward.
Choose the right YouTube format
| Format | Best for | What viewers experience |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled video | Publishing a completed webinar at a chosen date and time without an event-style viewing experience. | The recording becomes a regular video at the scheduled time. |
| Premiere | Giving a prerecorded webinar a shared event start with a public page, reminders and chat. | Viewers watch the video together in real time. They can rewind, but cannot skip ahead beyond the point currently playing. Afterward, the video remains on the channel and chat replay is available. |
| Scheduled live stream | A webinar where the presenter will broadcast or interact in real time. | Viewers watch the live event; the stream can remain available as a replay, subject to YouTube’s archiving behavior and the archive’s visibility setting. |
These options can all lead to on-demand viewing, but they are not interchangeable. Use a scheduled video for a simple timed release, a Premiere for a communal viewing event built around a recording, and a live stream when the webinar itself happens in real time. YouTube’s official setup guidance is in its Premiere help, video scheduling help and live-streaming help.
Publish a prerecorded webinar as a scheduled video
- In YouTube Studio, upload the finished recording.
- Enter the title, description, thumbnail and other video details.
- On the Visibility screen, choose the Schedule card.
- Set the publication date, time and time zone, then schedule the video.
This is the most direct choice when viewers simply need access from a particular time onward. Check the date display if your audience is international: YouTube says the date shown on the watch page is based on Pacific Standard Time, which can differ from the date in the time zone you selected.
Turn the recording into a Premiere
- Upload the completed webinar in YouTube Studio and fill in its video details.
- Choose the Schedule card, set the intended date and time, and select Premiere.
- Share the public watch page before the start so viewers can set a reminder, comment or join the chat.
- Be present in chat if useful. After the video ends, answer questions or direct attendees to a relevant next resource.
YouTube recommends scheduling a Premiere at least 24 hours in advance so its thumbnail has a chance to appear in subscribers’ feeds. This is creator guidance, not a guarantee of attendance. During the Premiere, viewers watch together; they can rewind but cannot jump ahead of the live playback position. Once it ends, the recording remains a regular channel video and chat replay is available.

Run a live webinar and keep a replay
Check channel eligibility and choose a setup
For computer live streaming, YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. A webcam workflow suits a straightforward computer presentation. Use an encoder when you need a more produced setup with elements such as slides, overlays, cameras or microphones. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required; a microphone or camera is an optional upgrade based on your existing equipment and desired production quality.
Schedule and test the event
- In YouTube Studio, schedule the live stream and enter its title, description, privacy and other details.
- Share the watch link ahead of time. YouTube recommends sharing a live link at least 48 hours before the event; this is platform advice, not a promised attendance result.
- Test privately or as unlisted, then check the preview in Live Control Room before inviting viewers.
- Confirm that a local recording is being written, and monitor audio and video during the webinar.
A test helps catch practical issues—such as an incorrect presentation source or inaudible microphone—before viewers arrive. A local recording is especially important if the stream runs long: YouTube Help says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. The source page does not state a publication year for that guidance.

Prepare the webinar content and audience experience
- Use a clear title and description that tell viewers what the session covers and whether it is a recording or live event.
- Check that the recording’s audio, slides and transitions are usable before scheduling; a Premiere does not replace reviewing the video.
- Decide in advance whether viewers should find the replay publicly, receive a link, or have restricted access.
- For a live session, share the scheduled link early and test the full presentation path, including audio and any slides or overlays.
- Use only material you have rights to show and play. A recording that contains third-party footage or music can still raise copyright issues when uploaded or streamed.
Troubleshoot common problems
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The video did not publish when expected. | The schedule date, time or time zone may be wrong, or the scheduled video details may not have been saved as intended. | Check the video’s Visibility settings in YouTube Studio, confirm the scheduled time zone, and remember that the watch-page date is based on Pacific Standard Time. |
| The Premiere page is not behaving like a normal video. | A Premiere is a synchronized viewing event; viewers cannot skip ahead of the playback position. | Use a scheduled regular video instead if viewers should be able to start or skip through the recording independently. |
| You cannot start a computer live stream. | The channel may not be verified or may have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. | Check channel verification and live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio before the event. |
| The live replay is missing or incomplete. | Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured, and a local recording may not have been saved. | Check Content > Live and use the local backup if available. For future events, record locally and plan for a stream shorter than 12 hours if you need YouTube’s automatic archive. |
| Some intended viewers cannot open the replay. | The archive may be private or unlisted, or the link may not have been shared with the right audience. | Review visibility and test the link from the expected viewer’s perspective. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video playing as a YouTube live stream after you have created the webinar content, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; StreamNeo plays the upload rather than broadcasting from a camera. It streams the file as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly access is $9.99 per month. This is for continuous YouTube playback, not a substitute for a live presenter or an interactive webinar event. Start your free StreamNeo day.
