But running longer is not proven, by itself, to increase views, watch time, or earnings. The benefits depend on the format, whether viewers find and watch it, and whether the channel can operate and moderate it responsibly.
What a 24/7 livestream can offer
More hours for viewers to join
A continuous broadcast can be available when viewers are ready to watch, including at times when a creator is not presenting live. That is an availability benefit—not evidence that YouTube will recommend the stream more widely. A persistent music, ambient, information, or community feed may suit unattended hours better than a show whose value depends on a host responding in real time.
A shared, interactive experience
YouTube describes Live as a way to create shared experiences and build community. Live chat can let viewers interact during a broadcast, although a 24/7 schedule does not mean someone will be available to answer at all times. Less post-production for some formats
YouTube notes that live video may save time spent in post-production while sharing unique moments. That does not remove the work of planning a stream, monitoring its technical health, moderating chat, or reviewing and clipping material afterward. The time saved depends on the format and what you do with the recording.

Does streaming 24/7 get more views or watch time?
Not automatically. A longer broadcast creates more possible viewing time, but watch time is realized only when people find and watch the content. YouTube’s published guidance does not establish that 24/7 duration alone causes a lift in views, watch time, or recommendations.
Judge the result from your channel’s data rather than the number of hours streamed. YouTube Studio and Live Control Room report measures such as views, total watch time, average view duration, concurrent and peak concurrent viewers, chat activity, and new subscribers. Content analytics also includes impressions, click-through rate, and audience retention. YouTube explains live metrics in its live stream metrics guide and discusses live content in its content analytics guidance.

How to make a fair comparison
Compare similar content over comparable periods, and account for variables that can affect results: format, day and time, promotion, audience size, and stream duration. Look at total watch time alongside average view duration and retention; a larger total alone does not show whether the stream held attention better. Views, impressions, and chat activity help show different parts of the picture.
Analytics are processed and despammed, and figures shown during a broadcast can differ from later Studio data. Treat a change as an observation, not proof that continuous streaming caused it.

Can a 24/7 stream make money?
Possibly, if the channel and stream meet the relevant requirements. YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships among live monetization options; it also describes Premium revenue and shopping among creator monetization features. Access depends on eligibility and the feature. For ads, the channel must be monetized and the stream’s monetization setting enabled, and YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. More hours online may create more opportunities for eligible viewers to arrive, but YouTube’s documentation does not say that a 24/7 schedule guarantees additional earnings. Do not treat a longer stream as passive income or use runtime as a substitute for measuring actual revenue and audience response.

Will YouTube save a 24-hour livestream?
Do not rely on one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast becoming a complete replay. YouTube says it can automatically archive a live stream if it is less than 12 hours; if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends recording a local archive as a backup. Check its archive live streams guidance before choosing a workflow.
If preserving the full program matters, plan local recording and consider dividing the broadcast into shorter planned segments. A local recording is a backup to arrange and verify; do not assume the platform archive is a substitute for it.

What continuous streaming requires
YouTube lists mobile, webcam, and encoder as streaming methods. Its setup guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. An encoder workflow is one option, not a requirement for every way to go live. YouTube’s live streaming tips cover setup and operation.
For a long-running broadcast, plan for stable power and connectivity, monitoring, a restart or recovery procedure, moderation coverage, and local recording if you need a reliable archive. These are practical operating needs, not a YouTube uptime guarantee. The right balance depends on the stream: an unattended ambient feed and an interactive hosted program do not have the same moderation or presentation needs.
