Not directly. Vultr Object Storage can hold and serve video files, but YouTube’s documented workflows require either uploading the media to YouTube or sending a live signal from an encoder to YouTube’s ingest service. A Vultr object URL is neither a YouTube upload nor a live ingest endpoint.
What Vultr Object Storage can—and cannot—do
Vultr describes Object Storage as S3-compatible storage for unstructured data, including media files. Its supported operations include uploading and retrieving objects, multipart uploads, and presigned URLs. That makes it useful for keeping video source files and retrieving them for another workflow; it does not make a bucket a YouTube publishing connector. Vultr’s Object Storage documentation and its S3 compatibility matrix describe storage features, not a direct YouTube import path.
A public object URL or CDN URL serves a file to a reader or application. YouTube’s live server URL is an ingest destination, used with a stream key. These URLs serve different purposes. Vultr’s S3 compatibility matrix also lists bucket website hosting as unsupported, so do not assume a bucket is a complete video-streaming platform.
Choose the right YouTube workflow
| What you want to do | Workflow | What Vultr does |
|---|---|---|
| Publish a finished, prerecorded video | Retrieve the file from Vultr, then upload it through YouTube Studio or an authorized YouTube Data API integration. | Stores the source file and supplies its media bytes to the upload workflow. |
| Broadcast live to YouTube | Configure an encoder with YouTube’s server URL and stream key, then send the live output to YouTube. | May store source or archive files separately; the bucket itself does not send the live signal. |
Upload a prerecorded video stored in Vultr
- Retrieve the object. Use an authorized S3-compatible client or application to download the video from your Vultr bucket. For private objects, use appropriate access controls; Vultr recommends private-by-default buckets and time-limited presigned URLs for private distribution. Vultr’s security guidance explains these approaches.
- Upload the media to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, use the video-upload workflow, or build an authorized integration using the YouTube Data API’s
videos.insertmethod. Google’s guide demonstrates resumable uploading of a local media file; it does not establish a direct import from a Vultr URL. See the YouTube Data API upload guide. - Prepare the file appropriately. YouTube recommends an MP4 container with H.264 video and AAC-LC or Opus audio, and publishes bitrate recommendations by resolution and frame rate. These are YouTube encoding recommendations; they do not mean Vultr transcodes a file or makes it upload-ready. Consult YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings.
- Check API constraints if automating. Google’s current API reference documents a maximum media file size of 256 GB and 100 calls per day for
videos.insert. Uploads from unverified API projects created after July 28, 2020 are restricted to private viewing until the project passes an audit. Check the current API reference and your project’s quota and audit status before designing a publishing pipeline.
This is a two-service transfer: the file leaves Vultr and is uploaded to YouTube. The reviewed official documentation does not describe YouTube fetching a video directly from a Vultr object URL or provide a turnkey Vultr-to-YouTube integration.

Send a live broadcast to YouTube
- Create or configure the live stream in YouTube Studio. Get the YouTube server URL and stream key for the broadcast. YouTube’s setup instructions say to enter both in the encoder.
- Configure a live encoder. Set it to send the production output to YouTube’s ingest service. YouTube recommends RTMPS; it also documents HLS ingestion for supported encoder workflows, including HDR configurations. Follow YouTube’s live encoder setup instructions and encoder settings guidance.
- Match the bitrate to your connection and test before going live. YouTube recommends 10 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p30 and 17 Mbps at 1080p60. These are YouTube Live ingestion recommendations, not Vultr storage-bandwidth figures. YouTube advises testing the stream and matching the bitrate to available upload bandwidth.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it as a credential for your YouTube broadcast. Enter it only in the intended encoder or service, and do not expose it in a public object, page, or shared configuration.
Object storage can hold finished media or archives in a live-production setup, but it does not replace the encoder-to-YouTube connection. YouTube also documents live ingestion through HLS for supported use cases; use the protocol and settings appropriate to the encoder and broadcast, rather than treating a stored file URL as an ingest address.
Use Vultr for file delivery, not YouTube publishing
If your goal is to let viewers or an application retrieve a video file outside YouTube, Vultr’s object access and CDN options may be relevant. Vultr recommends putting a CDN Pull Zone in front of public content to cache it and reduce origin egress. For private distribution, its guidance recommends keeping buckets private and using time-limited presigned URLs. Consider audience geography, caching, access control, and origin exposure; neither a public object URL nor a CDN URL substitutes for YouTube’s upload or live ingest workflow.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream of uploaded videos rather than a live camera or production, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. Every slot supports the video as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, or start the free first day.
