2. Gyre and Upstream: services listed by YouTube
YouTube’s encoder directory identifies Gyre and Upstream as cloud tools for 24/7 live streams. That makes them relevant candidates, but a directory listing is not a comparative review or a performance guarantee. Before choosing either, check its current pricing, supported formats, number of simultaneous streams, playlist controls, recovery behavior, archive options, and account permissions.
3. LiveReacting: documented playlist-looping workflow
LiveReacting’s guide describes uploading videos, creating and looping a playlist, connecting YouTube, starting the stream, and then closing the browser. This is the vendor’s description, not an independent uptime test. Confirm that the selected YouTube channel is correct and verify in YouTube Studio that the broadcast stays live after setup.

4. OBS or another local encoder: hands-on, but not unattended by default
A desktop encoder can send a prerecorded playlist to YouTube, but the local machine and network remain part of the delivery chain. Choose this route if you want direct control and can keep the setup powered, connected, and monitored. YouTube’s encoder directory includes desktop software; the available evidence does not establish that one local encoder is more reliable than another.

How to choose without mistaking a feature list for a reliability ranking
No independent uptime comparison is established for these options, so “best” depends on your workflow. Ask each provider or check its current documentation for the points that affect your channel:
- Where playback runs: cloud, a computer you maintain, or dedicated hardware.
- Playlist behavior: whether playlists loop, can be edited while live, and support the scheduling you need.
- Media handling: supported file formats and whether uploads are converted or streamed as supplied.
- Recovery and monitoring: what happens after a dropped YouTube connection, and how you learn that the feed has stopped.
- Scale and access: simultaneous-stream limits, channel selection, authorization scope, and how to revoke third-party access.
- Replays and cost: whether the service fits your archive plan and the total current cost for your intended duration.
Prepare YouTube and the playlist before launch
- Enable live streaming on the channel. Restream’s 2026 guidance says first-time YouTube live streaming requires activation and a 24-hour wait. Check YouTube Studio before your planned start rather than leaving activation until launch day.
- Use the Google account that owns the channel. When connecting a service through YouTube authorization, select the intended channel. Restream and StreamYard both identify channel ownership or selection as a setup concern.
- Prepare the media and playlist. Upload or locate the videos in the chosen service, create the playlist, and enable looping. Check that the sequence, audio, and stream details are correct before starting.
- Connect the feed to YouTube. Follow the service’s channel authorization or stream-key flow. Treat API access as account access: understand what is authorized and how to revoke it if you stop using the service.
- Start and verify in YouTube Studio. Confirm the stream is live and the intended channel is broadcasting. Even when the service says the browser can be closed, verify the feed and arrange monitoring appropriate to the channel.
- Plan monetization separately. Gyre says a YouTube Studio third-party-tools monetization setting must be enabled for monetization defaults to apply to streams created by third-party tools. Check the current Studio setting and YouTube policies; do not assume a stream is monetized merely because the channel is eligible.
Copyright, reused content, and archive planning
Only stream material you have the rights to use on YouTube. A playlist being available to play, or a video being uploaded successfully, does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it continuously. Review rights for footage, music, narration, and other included material, and check YouTube’s current copyright and monetization policies before scheduling a long-running stream.

A 24/7 broadcast is not necessarily a complete replay archive. Restream’s 2026 help guidance says YouTube archives streams shorter than 12 hours, while also stating that YouTube does not impose a stream-duration limit. Treat those as Restream’s descriptions of YouTube behavior, not a promise that every stream will be archived; check current YouTube guidance and decide how viewers will access recordings separately.
Common problems and what to check
- The service cannot go live: verify that live streaming is enabled for the channel and allow for the first-time activation wait described above.
- The wrong channel appears: reconnect using the Google account that owns the intended channel, then check the selected channel before starting.
- The stream stops when a browser or computer closes: confirm whether the selected workflow actually runs playback in the cloud or depends on a local encoder. A local encoder needs its computer and network available.
- The stream is live but the playlist does not advance: check that looping is enabled and that the playlist contains playable media in the intended order; consult the provider’s current format and playlist requirements.
- A broadcast is live but has no usable archive: check stream duration and the current archive behavior, then use a separate recording or archive workflow if a full replay is important.
- Monetization defaults are missing: for API-created streams, check the third-party-tools setting in YouTube Studio and current monetization requirements.
