Advanced and Premium event limits
Vimeo’s Help Center states that Advanced allows up to two simultaneous live streams and Premium up to three, with a 12-hour limit per stream on both plans. These are per-stream limits, not evidence that a single event can run indefinitely. Vimeo also says live events are subject to a 2 TB monthly bandwidth policy. Its public live-streaming page advertises 24/7 live streams, but a general product-page claim does not establish that the feature is included in every Enterprise quote or configuration. Ask Vimeo to confirm the add-on, stream count, and operating terms in writing for your account.
Simulcasting is a destination feature, not a duration guarantee
Vimeo says simulcasting requires Advanced or Premium, or Enterprise with Events. It lists YouTube among integrated destinations, allows up to ten integrated destinations and up to twenty custom RTMP destinations, and notes that some platforms may require the event to be started in their own portal or application. Check Vimeo’s simulcasting documentation for current details. Sending an event to YouTube does not by itself mean Vimeo will keep that event running past its per-stream limit.

What is the cheapest way to run a continuous YouTube stream?
There is not enough like-for-like information to name a universal cheapest option. A headline monthly price does not account for plan duration, storage, quality selection, taxes, destinations, or whether a local encoder must run continuously. Compare the actual cost of the configuration you need:
- Is the amount charged per channel, stream slot, or account?
- Does it include the number of hours and restarts your schedule requires?
- Are the source files, resolution, and storage allowance covered without a higher tier?
- Are taxes, currency conversion, and renewal terms clear for your location?
- Does the workflow require a computer, encoder, or separate go-live action to stay active?
Vimeo’s observed Advanced offer was $75/month billed annually on 2026-10-03, while Enterprise pricing was custom; neither figure establishes the cost of an Enterprise 24/7 setup. Choose based on source, destinations, and operating burden
Content input
A live camera or encoder sends a real-time feed; a loop service plays files you upload. If a documentary channel’s schedule is built from recorded programs, confirm supported playlist behavior and file limits. If you need a live presenter or camera feed, a prerecorded-loop service does not replace that input.
Duration and recovery
Ask whether the service has a per-stream cap, supports continuous playback, and what happens after a planned restart or dropped YouTube connection. Automatic recovery is a vendor claim unless independently tested; establish how the service reports a failed restart and what action you must take.

Destinations and event controls
Choose YouTube-only operation if that is the whole requirement. If you need to simulcast, verify destination limits and whether each destination requires a separate start action. Vimeo may be more appropriate when event-level controls—such as privacy, embedding, analytics, moderation, branding, or support—are central to the production.
