You can stream a prerecorded video on YouTube over Airtel broadband by scheduling a YouTube Live event, loading the video file into encoder software, and sending the encoder’s output to YouTube with the event’s stream URL and key. Whether your Airtel connection can sustain the stream depends on its measured upload speed at the time—not the plan’s advertised download speed. Test the line, leave bandwidth headroom, and use a lower bitrate or resolution if the preview or stream health is unstable.
Before you start
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Use encoder software that can play a local video file as its source and send a live feed to YouTube. A camera or capture card is not inherently required for a file-based source. YouTube’s encoder workflow guide explains the general setup but does not prescribe a particular prerecorded-video encoder.
- Have the video file ready and test your upload speed at the time and location you expect to stream. A Wi-Fi or household connection shared with other devices may perform differently under load.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Open the Manage tab to schedule a stream, or create one from the Stream tab. Set the title, description, privacy, and event details. Scheduling gives you an event URL to share and time to check the setup.
- In the Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key. In the encoder, paste them into the server/URL and stream-key fields. Treat the key like a password: anyone who gets it may be able to send a feed to your event.
Keep the event’s privacy setting in mind while testing. An unlisted test event can help you check the feed without presenting it as a public broadcast.
Set the prerecorded video as the encoder source
- Open an encoder that supports a local media-file source and YouTube Live output.
- Add or select the prerecorded video file as the source. Configure its audio as well as its picture; confirm that the file plays correctly in the encoder’s preview.
- Set the encoder’s output to YouTube’s stream URL and key, then choose a resolution and bitrate that your measured upload can sustain.
- Start the encoder and check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room. Confirm that both video and audio are present and that YouTube reports a healthy feed before the event begins.
- At the end of the broadcast, stop the encoder’s output. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume that this applies to longer streams.
Recommended encoder settings
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; it says not to exceed four seconds. Frame rates up to 60 fps are supported. RTMPS is the encrypted transport option. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate recommendations.
| Target video | YouTube-recommended H.264 video bitrate | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps | A sensible lower-bandwidth starting point if your measured upload is limited. |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps | Use only when the connection remains stable with bandwidth to spare. |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps | Requires substantially more sustained upload capacity than 720p30. |
These are YouTube’s recommended video encoder bitrates, not guaranteed Airtel upload speeds. Audio and protocol overhead also consume bandwidth, so do not treat the video bitrate as the whole connection requirement.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check whether your Airtel broadband can handle it
- Measure upload speed on the same connection and near the time you plan to stream. Prefer a computer connected by Ethernet; YouTube recommends wired Ethernet for computer streaming.
- Compare the measured upload capacity—not the download result—with the encoder’s total stream bitrate. YouTube advises leaving about 20% of upload bandwidth unused. In its streaming tips, YouTube states: “The total bitrate you’re streaming cannot exceed the amount of upload bandwidth available. Leave a bit of room (20% recommended).”
- Allow for other people and devices using the same connection. If speed varies, choose a lower bitrate or resolution rather than setting the encoder at the edge of the measured result.
- Run an unlisted test event and watch YouTube’s preview and stream-health indicators. Repeat the test under realistic household usage if the connection is shared.
Airtel’s India broadband FAQ lists plans advertised at speeds up to 40, 100, and 300 Mbps, and 1 Gbps, while noting that broadband speed varies by selected tariff. Those advertised plan figures do not establish the upload rate of an individual line. Check Airtel’s broadband FAQ and measure your own connection.
Airtel’s published Xstream Fiber terms state a 3333 GB billing-cycle fair-use threshold, after which speed is reduced to 1 Mbps; the terms also say the FUP may be amended. This could matter for long or frequent streams. Check the terms for your current plan rather than assuming the figure applies unchanged to every customer. See Airtel Xstream Fiber terms and conditions.

Test and prepare before the scheduled start
YouTube recommends setting up two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event. Use that window to confirm the correct event and privacy setting, preview picture and sound, verify that the stream is reachable, and check stream health. If the feed is unstable, reduce output bitrate or resolution and test again before the scheduled start. See YouTube’s computer streaming tips.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or change |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive a feed | The encoder is not sending, or the stream URL/key is incorrect. | Confirm the encoder is running and that the server URL and key match the intended event. Keep the key private. |
| Preview is missing picture or sound | The wrong file/source is selected, playback has not started, or audio is not routed. | Check file playback and audio in the encoder preview, then inspect the YouTube preview before going live. |
| Stream health degrades or video stutters | Upload capacity is insufficient or fluctuating, or other network use is competing for bandwidth. | Measure upload again under realistic conditions, use Ethernet where possible, reduce bitrate/resolution, and leave the recommended headroom. |
| The connection was initially stable but later slows | Network conditions may have changed, or the applicable plan’s fair-use terms may affect service. | Check current Airtel plan terms and remaining billing-cycle usage; test again and lower the stream target if needed. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you need a prerecorded YouTube channel stream to keep running without leaving a computer or home connection on, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It keeps looping if your computer is off and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot with no quality tiers; the first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for prerecorded uploads to YouTube, not camera broadcasting. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
