For a prerecorded playlist that needs to keep a YouTube channel live while your computer is off, start with managed cloud playout. StreamNeo is the most direct fit to try first: it runs uploaded videos from the cloud, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with a free first day. If you want to operate the encoder and server yourself, compare a DigitalOcean Droplet in Bangalore with Amazon Lightsail in Mumbai—but price the whole workload, including outbound data and administration, rather than choosing by the entry plan alone.
There is no established head-to-head evidence that one platform delivers better uptime or stream latency from India. The right choice depends on whether you value less server administration or more control. This comparison is for continuous prerecorded playout; a live camera or event feed may need a different production setup.
Which kind of cloud platform fits your stream?
YouTube is the destination; a cloud platform or managed playout service runs the encoder that sends video to YouTube. These are different jobs, and the distinction matters when comparing products.
| Option | What it does | Best fit | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo managed cloud playout | Runs uploaded videos or a playlist from the cloud to YouTube. | Prerecorded loops when you want to avoid maintaining an encoder server. | Current terms, storage, stream count, quality, recovery behavior, and cancellation. |
| DigitalOcean Droplet | An unmanaged virtual machine on which you install and operate an encoder. | Operators comfortable administering and monitoring a Linux server. | VM sizing, transfer allowance, software setup, recovery, billing, and actual performance. |
| Amazon Lightsail | A bundled, self-managed virtual server available in Mumbai. | Operators who prefer AWS and can manage the encoder themselves. | Mumbai’s reduced transfer allowance, possible overage, CPU capacity, and taxes. |
| Google Cloud Live Stream API | A usage-priced service for live encoding and streaming. | A more engineered video pipeline, if its ingest and output workflow suits the job. | Full architecture and cost; its general-purpose API is not established as a turnkey YouTube playout service. |
StreamNeo’s description of its cloud encoder, dashboard, and recovery is vendor-authored, not an independently measured reliability result. Likewise, the existence of Bangalore and Mumbai regions does not prove that either delivers lower YouTube ingest latency or better stability. No comparative Indian performance benchmark is established here.

Why StreamNeo is the first option for prerecorded loops
StreamNeo is built for the specific workflow of uploading video and keeping a YouTube channel live from the cloud. The service says each slot includes one always-on stream, uploaded video quality up to 4K 60fps without re-encoding or quality tiers, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. These are product claims, not independently tested uptime figures.
Its trial is one free day per account with no card. Billing terms are available by day, week, month, 6 months, or year, with cancellation at any time; UPI and cards are accepted in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support. The service streams to YouTube and plays uploaded videos; it is not a live-camera encoder.

DIY cloud servers: DigitalOcean or Lightsail?
A virtual machine gives you control, but it also makes you responsible for installing, configuring, securing, and restarting the encoder. The published starting prices below are not a recommendation of an adequate streaming configuration; actual capacity depends on the encoder, source format, and workload.

| Platform and documented location | Published entry details | Important streaming cost or duty |
|---|---|---|
| DigitalOcean Droplet, Bangalore datacenter | Plans start at US$4/month; outbound transfer allowance starts at 500 GiB/month, according to DigitalOcean’s pricing page accessed in 2026. | Droplets are unmanaged. Size the VM, install and monitor the encoder, and check the allowance for the selected plan. Starting figures do not establish sufficient CPU or transfer for your stream. |
| Amazon Lightsail, Mumbai | A published Linux bundle is US$7/month with 1 GB memory, 2 vCPUs, and 2 TB standard-region transfer. | AWS says Mumbai instance plans include half the displayed transfer allowance. AWS lists India excess outbound transfer at US$0.13/GB. Verify the applicable bundle, current regional allowance, and taxes before purchase. |
These are provider-published figures, not complete monthly costs in Indian rupees. Your total can also depend on the chosen VM size, data overage, storage, taxes, billing currency, and any other services you add. AWS’s standard-region transfer figure should not be mistaken for the Mumbai allowance.
When DigitalOcean is a reasonable choice
Consider a Bangalore Droplet if you can run a Linux server and want to choose and manage the encoder yourself. The region is documented, but location alone does not establish stream stability or latency. Confirm the exact plan’s CPU and outbound transfer before deploying.

When Lightsail is a reasonable choice
Lightsail may suit an operator already comfortable with AWS who wants a bundled VM plan in Mumbai. Include the region-specific transfer reduction and possible excess-data charges in the estimate. The lowest displayed bundle is not proof of sufficient encoding capacity for your chosen resolution and frame rate.
Where Google Cloud Live Stream API fits
Google Cloud describes a usage-priced live encoding and streaming service whose prices depend on output resolution and codec. The available description does not establish that it is the simplest or cheapest direct encoder for one YouTube channel. Treat it as an option for a deliberately engineered pipeline, not as interchangeable with a managed prerecorded-video playout service.

Estimate bandwidth before choosing a server
Outbound video data can be a major part of a 24/7 stream’s cost. As an illustrative calculation, a constant 4.5 Mbps stream over 30 days sends about 1.46 decimal TB of raw video payload: 4.5 Mbps × 2,592,000 seconds ÷ 8 = 1,458,000 decimal MB. This is arithmetic, not a provider quote. Protocol overhead and each provider’s transfer accounting can change the billed amount, and a higher bitrate increases data volume proportionally.
For context, YouTube’s encoder settings page recommends 10 Mbps H.264 for 1080p at 30 fps and lists 14 Mbps as the minimum for that mode. A 4.5 Mbps example is therefore not a substitute for checking YouTube’s settings for your intended resolution, frame rate, and codec. Use the selected bitrate to estimate monthly transfer, then compare it with the precise regional allowance and overage rules.
Prepare YouTube and test the stream
- Enable live streaming on the channel. Complete YouTube’s channel live-streaming setup before relying on a cloud encoder.
- Create or open the stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Copy the server URL and stream key shown there. Keep the key private: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Set the encoder for the source and destination. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings for the chosen resolution, frame rate, and codec. YouTube recommends RTMPS; use the matching server URL and do not guess at bitrate or keyframe settings.
- Send a test feed and inspect stream health. YouTube advises testing before going live and monitoring stream health. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room, check that video and audio are correct, then select Go live when ready.
- Plan the archive separately from continuity. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance is not proof that an indefinite stream will be archived intact, so do not rely on an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast as your only copy of the recording.
YouTube recommends RTMPS and publishes settings for different resolutions, frame rates, and codecs. Its verified-encoder directory lists third-party software and hardware, but a dedicated physical encoder is not automatically required for cloud playout.
Choose based on responsibility as well as price
- Choose managed playout first if you have prerecorded media and want the provider to operate the cloud encoder. Check service terms, storage, simultaneous stream limits, quality, and recovery details.
- Choose a self-managed VM if you can administer Linux, troubleshoot the encoder, and build your own monitoring and restart plan. Budget for server capacity and transfer, not just the entry price.
- For live camera or event production, first establish whether you need nonstop camera input, a switched production, or prerecorded playout. These needs differ; YouTube’s verified-encoder directory and NIC’s venue guidance describe encoder options for production contexts.
Or let it run in the cloud
For prerecorded YouTube video, StreamNeo removes the need to keep a computer or home connection running. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It runs the uploaded video from the cloud, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
