Keep the shows’ titles, schedules, and other details distinct. If they run simultaneously, YouTube’s current limits are 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key.
Before creating the podcast streams
- Check eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the first broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
- Decide what runs at the same time. YouTube currently allows up to 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Both limits apply; scheduling more events does not increase simultaneous capacity. See YouTube’s live encoder guidance.
- Choose an encoder workflow. You can encode locally with software or hardware, or use a cloud encoder. A local encoder uses your computer’s processing capacity and offers direct control. YouTube describes cloud services as a way to simplify setup and reduce local load, and as potentially useful when streaming to more than two channels. Check any provider’s current capabilities before choosing it.
Create one Live event for each podcast
- In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go live to open Live Control Room. For a future broadcast, open Manage and schedule the stream. The Stream tab is available for immediate setup. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance covers the current workflow.
- Create a separate event for each podcast. Enter that show’s title, description, visibility, thumbnail, and schedule. Treat each event as its own destination even if the podcasts share a channel or production setup.
- If you reuse a previous event’s settings, review every copied detail. In particular, confirm that the title, schedule, visibility, and encoder credentials belong to the show you are preparing.
- For each event, copy its YouTube server URL and stream key into the corresponding encoder profile. Keep a clear show-to-profile mapping so one podcast’s feed is not accidentally sent to another event.
- Start the encoder and check that its preview appears in Live Control Room. Once the feed and event details are correct, start the event in YouTube.
Keep events, stream keys, and shows matched
A stream key is a credential for sending an encoder feed to YouTube; YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Use the key associated with the intended event or configured workflow, and do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the feed. YouTube explains stream keys in its stream-key help page.
For multiple shows, label encoder profiles with the podcast name and verify both the destination and key before going live. Do not assume a copied event or profile is correct simply because the preview loads: check the event title in Live Control Room as well.
Can two podcasts go live at once on one channel?
Yes, provided the channel and encoder setup stay within YouTube’s current concurrency limits: 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. These are separate limits, so check both when planning simultaneous shows. Assign event/key combinations deliberately; creating additional scheduled events does not raise the active-stream allowance. YouTube’s encoder requirements and limits are the place to confirm current platform rules.

Organize podcast episodes separately from live events
A YouTube podcast is organized as a playlist of video episodes; creators can create one in Studio or connect an RSS feed. A scheduled live event is a separate item created in Live Control Room. Creating a podcast playlist does not create its live event. After a broadcast, organize the replay in the appropriate podcast episode playlist so viewers can find it alongside that show’s other episodes. See YouTube’s guidance on podcasts on YouTube.
Prepare and monitor each broadcast
- Set up the encoder ahead of the scheduled start and test the full feed path.
- Confirm the preview appears in the correct event before starting the broadcast.
- Check audio and video quality during the stream, especially when multiple shows share equipment or encoder resources.
- Keep each event’s metadata and schedule specific to its podcast, and verify copied settings before reuse.
YouTube recommends advance encoder setup, preview checks, testing, and monitoring audio and video quality in its live encoder recommendations.

Common problems and fixes
- Live streaming is unavailable: verify the channel and check for restrictions. If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation rather than waiting until broadcast day.
- The preview does not appear in the expected event: confirm that the encoder profile has that event’s server URL and stream key, then restart the encoder feed and check the preview again.
- The wrong podcast details appear: edit the event metadata and inspect any settings copied from an earlier show before going live.
- A simultaneous stream cannot start: check whether the channel already has 10 active streams or the assigned key already has 3. Reduce concurrent streams or correct the event/key assignment.
- The replay is missing from the show’s podcast playlist: add or organize the replay in the correct episode playlist; the live event and podcast playlist are separate parts of YouTube.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping a channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; the stream loops from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It is not a camera-based live production tool.
