You can broadcast a pre-recorded video as a YouTube Live event by creating or scheduling the event in YouTube Studio, connecting an encoder with the event’s stream URL and key, and sending the video to YouTube. Repeat playback is controlled by the encoder or streaming service—not by a loop setting documented in the YouTube guidance cited here. Test the complete playback cycle before promoting the event.

Before you start: check channel access and video rights

Your YouTube channel must be verified, and it must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time livestream access may take up to 24 hours to activate, so do not leave setup until the day of your broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.

Make sure you have the rights needed to broadcast every part of the recording, including its music, footage, and other audio. YouTube’s livestream terms require the broadcaster to have the necessary rights for worldwide use of live content and to follow applicable laws and Community Guidelines. Copyright issues or policy violations can lead to removal or restrictions; advertising and paid-promotion rules also apply. A video being prerecorded or uploaded to your own channel does not, by itself, establish that you may rebroadcast every element in it. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and guidance on avoiding live-stream restrictions.

How to set up the YouTube Live event

  1. Create or schedule the event. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room to create a stream or schedule it for later. Choose the event’s visibility, such as unlisted for a test. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes the event workflow.
  2. Get the connection details. In the event’s stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s corresponding fields. Keep the key private: YouTube describes stream keys as a password and address for the stream. You can review YouTube’s stream settings and key guidance.
  3. Configure the encoder to play the recording repeatedly. Select the video and use the current instructions for your chosen encoder or service to enable repeat playback. The YouTube pages cited here explain how to connect an encoder, but do not specify an OBS loop control or establish a particular menu path in another encoder. Do not assume that YouTube’s event settings make the source file loop.
  4. Start sending the feed and check the preview. Start the encoder, then wait for the video preview in Live Control Room. Check both picture and sound before starting the scheduled event. YouTube’s documented sequence is to start the encoder, confirm the preview, then select Go live for a scheduled event.
  5. Test the full loop and the viewer experience. Run a test—unlisted if appropriate—and confirm the video returns to its beginning as intended, without an unwanted gap or interruption. Check that viewers can watch on the channel and watch pages and on mobile devices. Monitor the audio and video during the broadcast. YouTube recommends testing and preparing the encoder in advance; see its live-streaming tips.

Prepare the connection for a stable stream

YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the total bitrate of the stream. For example, if the stream’s total bitrate is 10 Mbps, plan for at least 12 Mbps of available upload capacity under the conditions in which you will broadcast. This is headroom, not a substitute for a stable connection: a network interruption can break a stream. Test the actual setup and follow YouTube’s streaming and network tips.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Prepare the encoder well ahead of the event, check the preview before going live, and verify playback from a viewer’s perspective. The exact encoder settings and repeat controls depend on the tool you choose; use that tool’s current documentation rather than relying on an assumed YouTube or OBS menu label.

Choose how the prerecorded video will be delivered

YouTube lists software, cloud services, and dedicated hardware as encoder options. The listings establish possible approaches, not a comparative reliability review or guarantee that a feature or price has stayed current.

AJA HELO Plus YouTube describes its PlayToStream feature as able to schedule prerecorded media and stream directly to YouTube Live without a computer. Check the device’s current instructions and whether its workflow fits your schedule and content.

These descriptions come from YouTube’s encoder guide. They do not establish current comparative reliability or pricing for Gyre or AJA HELO Plus.

Plan for archives and viewers on long broadcasts

YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not promise viewers a complete replay of a continuous or all-day broadcast. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

DVR can let viewers pause, rewind, and resume a live stream, but YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Consider what viewers should expect if they join late or want to watch earlier sections; YouTube’s DVR documentation explains the feature and its long-stream limits.

Troubleshoot common setup problems

  • No preview appears in Live Control Room: Check that the encoder is sending to the correct stream URL and that the stream key matches the event. Keep the key private, but re-enter it if you suspect a copy or configuration error.
  • The event is not available to start: Check channel verification and live-stream eligibility. If this is your first livestream, activation may take up to 24 hours.
  • The video plays once and stops: The repeat behavior belongs to the encoder or service. Review its current playback instructions and test the full cycle before going live.
  • The stream drops or becomes unstable: Test the network and encoder, and check that available upload bandwidth exceeds the total stream bitrate with YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. A network interruption can break the feed.
  • The broadcast has no complete replay: A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be archived. DVR may also be limited or unavailable beyond that length.
  • The live event is removed or restricted: Review the rights for every audio and video element and check YouTube’s livestream policies, including copyright and advertising rules.
