For a pre-recorded YouTube channel that needs to stay live around the clock, StreamNeo is the simplest fit: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer can be off. For a self-managed stream, DigitalOcean infrastructure with SRS is a possible starting point, while AWS MediaLive, MediaPackage, and CloudFront suit more involved broadcast workflows that encode and deliver video to viewers. These options solve different problems; available vendor documentation does not establish a universal winner or a like-for-like 24/7 YouTube reliability comparison.
Choose a service for the job you actually have
A continuous YouTube ingest is not the same workload as encoding a broadcast, packaging it for playback, and distributing it to a large audience. For a single channel feed, first decide whether you want a managed service to loop uploaded recordings or are prepared to operate a cloud server and streaming process yourself. If you also need viewer-facing delivery infrastructure, a managed media stack may be relevant.
- Managed looping of uploaded videos: StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded recordings or a playlist. It does not stream a camera feed.
- Self-managed server: A general cloud server or a marketplace stack such as SRS gives you infrastructure to configure and maintain. You remain responsible for the streaming process and recovery.
- Managed broadcast processing and delivery: AWS MediaLive, MediaPackage, and CloudFront form a broader workflow for encoding, packaging, and distributing video to viewers. That can be unnecessary complexity if the only requirement is feeding one stream to YouTube.
Recommended services and approaches
1. StreamNeo — managed 24/7 YouTube looping
StreamNeo is #1 for a pre-recorded always-on YouTube channel because it runs in the cloud, streams uploaded videos at their original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud service loops the content without leaving a computer running at home. It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery, and support from the StreamNeo team. The same features apply to every plan; only the term changes. Plans can be purchased for a day, week, month, six months, or year, and can be cancelled at any time. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Contact support about five or more slots.

2. DigitalOcean infrastructure with SRS — self-managed
DigitalOcean promotes CPU-optimized Droplets and other infrastructure for people building streaming services. Its Marketplace SRS listing describes an open-source cloud or self-hosted video solution that can take RTSP camera input and stream it to YouTube and other platforms. This is a potential foundation to configure, not a turnkey 24/7 YouTube plan or proof that a particular Droplet size can encode your stream reliably. Confirm the stack’s current setup and requirements, then size the server for your actual input, encoding workload, and output.

Choose this route if you need control over a general-purpose server and have the skills to configure, supervise, update, and troubleshoot the streaming process. Do not infer an uptime guarantee from the fact that the server is hosted in a cloud data center.
3. AWS MediaLive, MediaPackage, and CloudFront — managed broadcast workflow
AWS documents a live-streaming workflow using Elemental MediaLive for encoding, MediaPackage for packaging and origin, and CloudFront for distribution. Its CloudFront guidance describes live events and 24×7 live channels. This is a more complete broadcast-delivery architecture, especially where managed processing and delivery to viewers are required; it is not automatically the economical choice for keeping one YouTube stream key fed.

AWS’s deployment guide gives an illustrative cost of $69.74 for a one-hour event with approximately 1,000 viewers and a standard-definition 540p profile: $2.50 for live encoding and packaging plus $67.24 for 791 GB of distribution. This is an AWS example based on those stated assumptions, not a price for a YouTube-only uplink or a monthly always-on service. Distribution drives most of that example’s cost. Actual expense depends on audience, bitrate, region, duration, and configuration; do not extrapolate the event figure into a monthly quote without recalculating the workload.
4. Amazon Lightsail — general-purpose server candidate
Lightsail is a general server option, not a documented turnkey live-streaming service. AWS says standard plans include a monthly transfer allowance and that prices vary by region. The available information is not enough for a fair current plan-by-plan streaming comparison. Before choosing a plan, verify its regional price, transfer allowance and overage terms, CPU capacity, and suitability for your encoder and sustained stream.

There is no published like-for-like comparison here for AWS, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, OVHcloud, or other VPS providers using the same stream, bitrate, region, duration, and uptime target. Treat a vendor’s infrastructure description as a starting point, not as evidence that your particular 24/7 stream will remain healthy.

Cloud hosting does not remove the need to meet YouTube’s ingest requirements. YouTube advises choosing the resolution, frame rate, and bitrate in the encoder, testing with representative movement and audio, and monitoring stream health. Its published guidance includes codec and protocol recommendations, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval; it recommends RTMPS for secure ingest. Settings and support can change, so consult YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions before deployment. YouTube specifically says, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.”

- Match the workload: Use the resolution, frame rate, and bitrate you intend to send continuously. Test representative motion and audio, not only a static screen.
- Check network headroom: Verify sustained upload capacity from the sending service or server, and monitor the actual stream health in YouTube Studio.
- Use the stream key carefully: Add the correct YouTube stream key to the chosen service, keep it private, and confirm the intended live event or stream is selected.
- Recheck before changes: Revisit YouTube’s current live encoder guidance when changing resolution, frame rate, codec, or ingest configuration.
Plan for failures, not just startup
A cloud VM can stay powered on while its encoder stops, its input disappears, or its connection to YouTube fails. Vendor material does not establish an end-to-end uptime promise for a user-managed OBS or SRS process sending to YouTube. Before relying on any self-managed setup for a continuous channel, decide how you will handle:
- Process supervision: Whether the encoder or relay restarts after a crash, and how you will know it restarted.
- Reconnect behavior: What happens if YouTube or the server’s network connection drops, and whether the process retries cleanly.
- Source availability: Whether the recording, playlist, camera, or upstream feed remains accessible.
- Monitoring and alerts: How you will detect a black screen, frozen output, missing audio, or a stream that has ended.
- Redundancy and maintenance: Whether a single host and source are acceptable, how updates will be applied, and what recovery time you can tolerate.
- Contractual coverage: Verify any relevant service-level agreement separately; a cloud provider’s server availability is not the same as a guarantee that a YouTube broadcast remains live.
Budget for the actual stream
Estimate the workload before comparing server prices. For a self-managed stream, check sustained CPU or encoding needs, outbound transfer, region, monthly allowance, and any overage charge. Transfer requirements depend on the stream bitrate and how long it runs. For a viewer-facing broadcast stack, audience delivery can dominate: the AWS 540p event example above assigns $67.24 of its $69.74 total to CloudFront distribution under the stated one-hour, approximately 1,000-viewer assumptions. It should not be treated as a quote for a different audience or a direct YouTube uplink.
For StreamNeo, the published plan choices are:
- Daily $0.99 per day
- Weekly $2.99 per week
- Monthly $9.99 per month
- 6 months $49.99 for 6 months
- Yearly $89.99 a year
Copyright and channel eligibility still matter
A service that can keep a stream connected does not make its content permissible or guarantee YouTube monetization. Before scheduling a continuous channel, check that you have rights to the video, music, images, and other material you broadcast, and review YouTube’s current live-stream and monetization policies. Reused material may raise separate monetization questions even when you are authorized to use it. Do not assume that looping a recording avoids copyright checks or channel-policy requirements.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the uploaded video loops from the cloud. It streams what you upload at up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
