To enable live streaming on a YouTube Brand Account, switch to the correct channel in YouTube Studio, complete phone verification in the channel’s feature eligibility settings, and confirm that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions from the past 90 days. Brand Account owners and managers can verify a channel’s phone number. Mobile streaming has additional requirements; the 50-subscriber threshold applies to mobile, not to every way of going live.
Before you begin: select the right channel
A Google Account can manage more than one YouTube channel. In YouTube Studio, check the selected channel before changing settings: you need the Brand Account channel you intend to stream from, not another channel associated with your login.
YouTube says Brand Account owners and managers can verify a phone number for a channel. That does not mean every delegated role can do so; verification authority and permission to operate streams are separate matters.
Enable live streaming through phone verification
- Open YouTube Studio and select the Brand Account channel. Confirm the channel name and icon before continuing.
- Go to Settings, then Channel, then Feature eligibility. Review the available channel features and the phone-verification prompt. YouTube may adjust Studio labels; if they differ, find the current feature eligibility area in Studio.
- Complete the phone verification flow. Follow the on-screen instructions to verify the channel’s phone number. YouTube lists live streaming among the channel features made available by phone verification.
- Check whether live streaming is available. The channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days. YouTube’s minimum age for live streaming is 16.
- Choose a streaming method. Start a stream using mobile, a webcam, an encoder, or a console, depending on your equipment and production needs.
Requirements depend on how you plan to stream

For mobile, allow for the possible first-stream activation delay rather than repeatedly changing settings. The up-to-24-hour wait is specific to YouTube’s mobile guidance; it is not a stated universal delay for every streaming method.

Give collaborators the right access
YouTube recommends using channel permissions instead of sharing Google Account credentials. Its permissions guidance says Owners and Managers can manage live streams; Managers can also manage channel permissions in YouTube Studio. Check YouTube’s role table before assigning a different role, and grant only the access the person needs.
If live streaming is still unavailable
- Studio shows the wrong channel: switch to the Brand Account channel you want to use, then check its feature eligibility.
- Phone verification is incomplete: return to the channel’s feature eligibility area and finish the verification flow.
- The channel is not verified or has a recent restriction: YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days.
- You are trying to stream from a phone: check the mobile requirements, including at least 50 subscribers and mobile live streaming being turned on. The first mobile stream can take up to 24 hours to become available.
- You are a collaborator with limited access: ask the channel owner to confirm your role. YouTube identifies Owners and Managers as able to manage live streams; do not assume every delegated role can verify a phone number.
