To keep a YouTube Live product demo running after its video ends, loop the prerecorded file in your encoder. In OBS Studio, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop. Keep OBS streaming; the repeated video then continues to feed the same live broadcast.
Choose how the demo should repeat

Looping the source repeats content inside the encoder feed. It is different from ending a stream and redirecting viewers to a separate program.
Set up a looping OBS stream
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule an encoder-based live stream. Copy its stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s connection settings. Treat the stream key like a password: it is the credential YouTube uses to accept the feed. When reusing stream settings, check the auto-start and auto-stop selections; YouTube says those settings are copied too.
- Add and configure the video in OBS. Create or select the scene for the demo, add a Media Source, choose the local video file, and turn on Loop. OBS Media Source has Loop off by default. For a sequence of clips, use VLC Video, build the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist.
- Check the repeat point. Play the scene and watch and listen through the end of the file and its restart. YouTube recommends previewing in Live Control Room before going live and monitoring audio and video quality during the event. Its guidance does not promise a seamless visual or audio transition at every loop point, so check the actual file and scene and adjust them if needed.
- Start the encoder and verify the broadcast. Start streaming from OBS, then confirm the feed appears in the Live Control Room preview and the broadcast is live. Keep the encoder sending content for as long as the broadcast should remain active.
- End the broadcast deliberately. When the event is finished, stop sending content from the encoder and end the stream as appropriate in Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe stopping encoder content as the way to end an encoder stream.
Plan for the archive and viewer handoff
YouTube’s encoder-stream guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For streams longer than 12 hours, YouTube’s DVR guidance says rewind may be limited or unavailable. If viewers need a recording or rewind, plan around those limits rather than promising a complete archive or full rewind for a long-running broadcast.
If the demo is finished and the goal is to send viewers to another program, YouTube Live Redirect can hand them off to a Premiere or another live stream after the current stream ends. It does not loop the current video or keep the same broadcast going. YouTube advises setting up the Premiere first and telling viewers to wait about two seconds for their screens to reload.

Troubleshoot a stream that stops or fails to repeat
- The broadcast ends when the clip ends: Check that Loop is enabled on the correct OBS Media Source, then verify that OBS itself is still streaming. Looping the clip does not help if the encoder stops sending its feed.
- The playlist does not repeat: Confirm that you used the VLC Video source and enabled Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for that source type.
- The stream does not appear live: Recheck the stream URL and key entered in OBS, and confirm the encoder is sending content. Preview the feed in Live Control Room before starting the event.
- The restart sounds or looks abrupt: Check the loop point in the complete scene and make any necessary edits to the file or production layout. A seamless transition is not guaranteed.
- Reused settings start or stop unexpectedly: Review YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings before the event, since they can be carried over when settings are reused.
Test the intended setup before the event, verify viewers can access the watch page, and monitor stream audio and video while it is live.
