Best OBS Settings for a Hindi Radio Livestream on YouTube

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a Hindi radio show with a mostly static visual, start in OBS at 1280Ă—720 and 30 fps, with H.264 video at 6,000 kbps using CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval. Set stereo AAC audio to 128 kbps at 44.1 kHz. This is a practical starting profile for a low-motion radio stream, not a Hindi-specific YouTube requirement; adjust it to your encoder and the upload speed you can sustain.

Recommended OBS settings for a Hindi radio livestream

YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists 6 Mbps as the recommended H.264 bitrate for 720p at 30 fps, with 3 Mbps as the minimum. Its other relevant recommendations are CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval (no more than 4 seconds), and stereo audio at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. These are ingestion settings, not a guarantee that your computer or internet connection can deliver a stable stream.

OBS setting Starting value Why or when to change it
Output resolution 1280Ă—720 A practical choice for a mostly static radio visual. Match the output to your visual sources and computer capacity.
Frame rate 30 fps Usually sufficient for a static image, title card, or simple waveform. Consider 60 fps only if the visual has substantial motion and your encoder and upload can sustain it.
Encoder H.264 A straightforward baseline when available. YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1, but your available options depend on encoder hardware and software.
Rate control CBR YouTube recommends constant bitrate for live encoding.
Video bitrate 6,000 kbps YouTube’s H.264 recommendation for 720p30. Its listed minimum is 3,000 kbps. Use the lower end only if needed for stability and test the resulting stream.
Keyframe interval 2 seconds YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
Audio codec and bitrate AAC stereo, 128 kbps YouTube recommends AAC or MP3 stereo at 128 kbps.
Audio sample rate 44.1 kHz Matches YouTube’s published stereo recommendation. Where possible, match OBS to the computer and audio interface sample rates to avoid preventable mismatches.
Ingest transport RTMPS, when supported YouTube recommends RTMPS. Use the ingest option supported by your encoder and destination.

For the current platform values and codec-specific bitrate guidance, see YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. OBS documents its settings in the OBS knowledge base.

Set up the stream in OBS

  1. Confirm YouTube eligibility. YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its live-streaming start guidance specifies a minimum age of 16. Review YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and start guidance before scheduling your first broadcast.
  2. Prepare the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and obtain its stream key and server details. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a stream to your channel. Do not show it in a screenshot or share it publicly.
  3. Set the video output. In OBS, open Settings → Video. Set the output (scaled) resolution to 1280×720 and the common FPS value to 30. Choose a canvas resolution that fits your sources; avoid unnecessary scaling if the computer is already under load.
  4. Set the streaming encoder. Open Settings → Output and select Output Mode: Advanced if needed to expose encoder controls. Under the streaming section, select H.264 if available, set rate control to CBR, bitrate to 6000 Kbps, and keyframe interval to 2 s. Encoder labels and available options vary by OBS version and device. YouTube’s specific bitrate recommendation applies to H.264 at 720p30; do not reuse it automatically for another resolution, frame rate, or codec.
  5. Set audio. In Settings → Audio, set the sample rate to 44.1 kHz. In the streaming audio output settings, choose AAC stereo at 128 Kbps where the selected encoder exposes those controls. Keep the interface, operating system, and OBS rates aligned where possible.
  6. Connect OBS to YouTube. In Settings → Stream, choose YouTube as the service and connect your account or enter the server and stream key provided by YouTube. Prefer RTMPS when available. Never paste your stream key into a public chat or an untrusted tool.
  7. Build and test the scene. Add the radio visual and audio sources, then make an unlisted test broadcast with representative Hindi speech, music, transitions, and the visual you plan to use. Check the YouTube Live Control Room preview and stream health before going public. YouTube advises testing before going live and continuously monitoring audio and video quality; see its live streaming tips.

Choose bitrate and frame rate for the connection you actually have

A speed-test peak is not the same as dependable upload capacity over an entire broadcast. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate. Test under the same network conditions you expect during the show, and leave capacity for normal fluctuations and other devices using the connection.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • If 6 Mbps video is stable, keep the recommended 720p30 H.264 target and monitor stream health during the test.
  • If dropped frames or unstable delivery persist, lower the resolution and bitrate together to a YouTube-supported combination your connection can sustain, then test again. Do not lower bitrate while expecting the same visual quality.
  • For a still image or simple visualizer, 30 fps is a sensible starting point. A higher frame rate is more relevant when the picture has substantial movement; YouTube publishes different bitrate guidance by frame rate, resolution, and codec.
  • Check encoder load as well as network capacity. If the computer cannot encode reliably, reduce the workload or choose an encoder option that your hardware supports consistently.

Clean, uninterrupted audio and a stable picture matter more to a radio-led program than selecting 60 fps without a visual reason. That is a practical editorial priority, not a separate YouTube rule.

Hindi-language programming does not need a special encoder profile

The cited YouTube settings do not specify a different bitrate or codec for Hindi. Language affects the program, not the live-ingestion profile. Use the same technical choices you would use for other stereo speech and music, then tune for the visual, encoder, audio chain, and connection.

Clear music and other content rights before going live

Technical settings do not grant permission to broadcast music. YouTube’s live-stream terms say the provider warrants that it holds the necessary rights for use on Google services, including music licensing rights and relevant territory requirements. That may involve rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. When it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the material remains, it may interrupt or terminate the stream. A track can still trigger a match even when licensed if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

  • Use music you created or have permission to broadcast, and check that the permission covers livestreaming, the relevant territories, and any needed public-performance rights.
  • Do not assume a track labeled “free” is cleared: YouTube says music must be public domain or used with rights-holder permission, and a free label alone does not prevent a Content ID flag.
  • YouTube points creators to the Audio Library, original music, Creator Music where available, and third-party catalogs whose licenses must be checked for the intended use. Creator Music restrictions can exclude livestreams, so verify the specific track’s terms.
  • If you have a license for third-party music, ask whether the rights holder must add your channel to its allowlist before broadcasting.

Read YouTube’s safe-music guidance and the applicable license terms for each track rather than relying on a catalog label alone.

Troubleshoot common OBS radio-stream problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check
OBS reports dropped frames or YouTube stream health is poor Upload instability, congestion, or an encoder that cannot sustain the selected output Run an upload test under typical conditions; check whether other devices are using the connection; lower resolution and bitrate together and run another unlisted test.
YouTube receives a different or unstable picture than expected Output scaling, frame-rate mismatch, device load, or an unsupported encoder configuration Confirm the output resolution and FPS in OBS, use a supported encoder, and inspect the Live Control Room preview during a test.
Audio is silent, distorted, or out of sync Wrong source, muted mixer channel, sample-rate mismatch, or incorrect monitoring/routing Check the OBS audio mixer and source meters, verify the correct input device, align sample rates where possible, and test with the actual microphone or playback chain.
A licensed song causes a warning, placeholder, or interruption Content ID matched the track, or the channel is not allowlisted by the rights holder Stop using the track until the rights and channel allowlisting are confirmed; substitute music with rights that clearly cover the broadcast.
The encoder cannot connect or the stream key fails Wrong destination/key, revoked or stale key, or a connection/security configuration problem Recheck the destination and current key in YouTube Studio, keep the key private, and use RTMPS when supported by the encoder and destination.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is a continuous YouTube radio channel, OBS means keeping your computer, encoder, and home connection running. StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud loops the uploaded content, so your computer can be off. It is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube.
