To schedule unattended prerecorded playback, create a StreamYard broadcast with Pre-recorded video as its source—not a standard Studio broadcast. Upload a video or choose a past StreamYard broadcast, select YouTube, set the date and time and broadcast details, then create the broadcast. StreamYard says playback starts automatically at the scheduled time and ends when the video finishes.
Before you schedule
- Enable YouTube live streaming. StreamYard lists this as a prerequisite for scheduling to a YouTube channel through its dashboard. This is the prerequisite stated in StreamYard’s guide, not a complete account of YouTube’s eligibility rules. StreamYard’s YouTube scheduling guide
- Prepare a supported video. StreamYard’s help article lists MP4 files with H.264 video encoding and a bitrate of up to 10 Mbps. It says prerecorded broadcasts can stream at up to 1080p on paid plans. These are vendor-published specifications and may change; check the current prerecorded-streaming guide before relying on a limit.
- Check your plan against the video. Duration, upload size, and the number of broadcasts you can schedule at once vary by plan. The figures below are the limits listed in StreamYard’s help materials, not independent test results.
Schedule the prerecorded broadcast
- In StreamYard, open Create → Live Stream.
- Choose Pre-recorded video as the source, then select Select recording.
- Upload the video from your computer or choose a past StreamYard broadcast.
- Select your YouTube destination. Add the title and description, and set the date and time.
- Choose whether to create an announcement post. If scheduling an announcement, set its timing and add a thumbnail if the option is available in your workflow.
- Create the broadcast. StreamYard says the video will start automatically at the scheduled time and finish when playback ends.
For the YouTube destination and channel settings, StreamYard’s guide describes choosing the channel and entering title, description, and privacy settings before scheduling. The exact options shown can vary with the selected workflow and current interface. See StreamYard’s YouTube Live scheduling instructions.
Choose the right scheduling workflow
A scheduled Studio broadcast and a prerecorded broadcast are not interchangeable. Scheduling a standard Studio stream creates an advance post, but a host still needs to enter the studio and click Go Live at the scheduled time. A prerecorded broadcast uses the video as its source and runs automatically; it does not provide the same live control over overlays and media assets as a standard Studio broadcast.

When viewers can get the YouTube link
The announcement setting controls when the scheduled prerecorded stream’s YouTube link is created. If you schedule an announcement, StreamYard says the link is created at the announcement time. Without an announcement, it appears when the stream goes live. To share the link earlier, schedule the announcement earlier. StreamYard says you cannot edit an existing prerecorded broadcast to add an announcement afterward; you must create a new broadcast to change that timing. StreamYard’s prerecorded-streaming guide
Check plan limits for duration, file size, and scheduling
StreamYard’s help materials list the following plan-dependent limits. Plan names and limits can change, so confirm them in the current prerecorded-streaming guide and paid-plan feature list before scheduling.

StreamYard also lists scheduling up to 365 days in advance. The help page does not state a publication year for these specifications. Treat them as current only after checking the linked pages.
Troubleshoot upload and playback preparation
- The video will not upload or seems to lag: confirm the file format, H.264 encoding, bitrate, size, and duration against the limits shown for your plan. StreamYard suggests re-encoding with HandBrake as a troubleshooting option; it is not mandatory and is not a guaranteed fix.
- The stream is not unattended: confirm that you selected Pre-recorded video, rather than creating a standard scheduled Studio broadcast. The latter still requires a host to click Go Live.
- You cannot share the YouTube link yet: check the announcement time. With no announcement, StreamYard says the link appears when the stream goes live.
- You expected the output to be saved in StreamYard: StreamYard says prerecorded broadcasts are no longer automatically saved to its library. Do not rely on the scheduled output being retained there.
Keep the video eligible for YouTube
Scheduling a prerecorded video does not establish that you have the rights to its contents or that it complies with YouTube’s rules. Before broadcasting, check that you have permission to use all footage, music, and other material in the recording, and review YouTube’s current requirements for live streams and monetization directly in YouTube Studio or YouTube’s official help resources. StreamYard’s stated requirement that live streaming be enabled is not a full summary of YouTube policy.
