How to Schedule a Recurring Meditation Livestream on YouTube

YouTube Studio lets you schedule meditation livestreams and reuse settings, but documented Studio steps require you to set up each occurrence. Here’s how to plan sessions, protect your stream key, and go live.

You can schedule meditation livestreams in YouTube Studio one session at a time: open Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream, then choose Reuse settings for a previous session or Create new. YouTube’s documented Studio workflow does not provide an automatic weekly recurrence toggle. For a recurring class, create or confirm each occurrence in advance; developers can automate events through YouTube’s Live Streaming API.

Schedule each meditation session in YouTube Studio

  1. Check livestream eligibility. YouTube says the channel must be verified, must have had no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the creator must be at least 16. See YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility and setup guidance.
  2. Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
  3. Create the scheduled event. Select Manage → Schedule stream. Choose Reuse settings to carry over a previous session’s metadata, settings, and stream key, or choose Create new. The encoder scheduling guide and live stream settings guide describe these options.
  4. Review this occurrence’s details. Set a clear title and description, privacy, date, time, thumbnail, and any other editable details. Reused settings are a starting point, not a substitute for checking the current session. State the time zone in your publishing checklist or announcement so viewers know when to join.
  5. Share the scheduled watch page. YouTube says scheduled streams may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds, and viewers can select Notify me. Share the event URL ahead of time so regular participants can find it.
  6. Start the session at its scheduled time. Configure your encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and stream key, start sending the feed, wait for its preview to appear in Live Control Room, then click Go live. When finished, stop the encoder and end the stream. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived.

What “recurring” means on YouTube

For a manual weekly or regular class

The documented Studio process schedules a future stream for a chosen time; it does not establish an automatic recurrence setting. Plan to create or confirm every occurrence. Reusing settings can save setup time, but check the copied title, description, schedule, privacy, and other details before sharing the event.

For an automated production workflow

YouTube’s Live Streaming API describes a recurring-event pattern that uses one reusable liveStream resource for delivery settings and separate scheduled liveBroadcast resources bound to it. YouTube describes one event live at a time as the common case. If broadcasts could overlap, its guidance describes separate stream resources for the different broadcasts or shows as a suitable approach. This requires implementation and channel authorization; it is not a Studio calendar feature. See Understanding Broadcasts and Streams and the YouTube Live Streaming API reference.

Make the scheduled event work for meditation viewers

  • Set expectations in the title and description. Say whether the session is guided or silent, its intended audience (such as beginners), and its planned duration. Prepare a calm holding screen or quiet welcome so viewers who arrive early know they are in the right place.
  • Choose audio and production to match the session. A microphone is optional, but useful for spoken guidance; YouTube lists microphones among typical encoder hardware. An encoder workflow can accommodate an external microphone, overlays, or a controlled prerecorded visual scene. A webcam or mobile workflow may suit a simple direct-to-camera session.
  • Set chat expectations before publishing. If the meditation is meant to be silent or uninterrupted, decide whether and how to moderate or limit chat. YouTube’s live settings include comment moderation choices.
  • Check music rights before rehearsal. Do not assume that music is cleared because it is available online. YouTube for Artists advises creators planning to use copyright-protected music in a livestream to coordinate with their label or distributor to avoid problems such as copyright strikes. See YouTube for Artists’ guidance on going live for music channels.
  • Use a trailer only if eligible. YouTube says scheduled streams can have trailers, but the feature requires more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Check the current Live Control Room options before relying on it.
  • Choose horizontal or vertical framing deliberately. YouTube’s live documentation describes both horizontal and vertical experiences, with mobile discovery advantages for vertical. Match the format to the visual framing and audience, and verify the current Studio options because feature availability can change.

Protect the reusable stream key

A reused key can make recurring sessions easier to configure, but YouTube describes stream keys as password-like credentials. Do not publish or share the key. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder. Before starting, confirm the intended scheduled session is selected and that its preview is correct. YouTube’s stream settings guidance covers keys and reusable settings.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your meditation format uses uploaded video rather than a live camera, StreamNeo can keep a YouTube stream running from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
