If a Livepush YouTube stream will not start, first find which link in the chain is failing: your encoder sending video to Livepush, or Livepush sending it to YouTube. Then check the YouTube destination’s connection method, event and stream key before changing encoder or network settings.
1. Find where the stream stops
Livepush sits between your encoder and YouTube: the encoder sends a feed to Livepush, which forwards it to configured destinations. Its dashboard reports connection analytics between the source device, Livepush and destinations. Use those statuses to identify the failing link before changing settings.
- No source feed reaching Livepush: start with the encoder and its connection to Livepush.
- Source reaches Livepush but YouTube does not: inspect the YouTube destination, account or event key.
- YouTube reports an encoder or transport error: follow the matching key, encoder, internet or RTMPS checks below.
2. Check your encoder-to-Livepush input
Livepush requires an encoder. Examples include OBS, Streamlabs OBS, XSplit, Wirecast and vMix. Confirm that the encoder is running, is sending the intended source to the correct Livepush input, and shows no output error. If Livepush does not show the source feed, do not start by replacing the YouTube key: troubleshoot the encoder and its connection to Livepush first.
3. Check the YouTube destination and how it is authenticated
Livepush supports connected-account and manual stream-key destination setups. The checks differ, so use the branch matching your setup.

Connected Google/YouTube account
- In Livepush, check whether the YouTube account is still connected. A disconnected social account can stop the connection; reconnect it if needed.
- Open the destination and verify it is enabled.
- Confirm that the intended live event is selected or created, that its details and privacy are set as intended, and that the destination is saved and enabled.
If the integration cannot connect or save the destination, use Livepush’s help-center live chat route.
Manual stream-key destination
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the intended live event.
- Copy the stream key for that event into the YouTube destination in Livepush. Make sure it is the key for the event you intend to broadcast.
- Save the destination and turn its switch on.
- For another event, set up the manual destination for that event as well.
Your YouTube channel must have live streaming enabled. Livepush says enabling live streaming on a new account can take up to 24 hours, so a newly enabled channel may not be ready immediately.

4. Respond to YouTube’s encoder start error
If YouTube reports an error when starting the encoder, YouTube Help recommends getting a new stream key in Live Control Room and updating the third-party encoder. Use the key for the intended event, and update the encoder or integration that actually connects to YouTube. If the software signs in to YouTube without a stream key and that connection fails, YouTube directs users to the software provider’s support team.
5. Check encoder health and outbound internet
- Encoder output has errors or high CPU load: update the encoder, inspect its output and errors, and address the load or encoder issue before retrying.
- Encoder output looks and sounds healthy: focus next on the outbound internet connection. YouTube recommends testing it; if the test identifies a problem, contact your internet provider.
A wired connection can be one way to test outbound connectivity, but YouTube does not prescribe a particular cable or say that wiring will resolve account, event, key or destination problems.

6. Check RTMPS only when it applies
Do this if RTMPS is the transport configured for your connection or the reported error points to RTMPS. Copy the actual RTMPS server URL from YouTube Live Control Room and confirm that the encoder supports RTMPS. For an SSL error, YouTube advises verifying that the URL uses RTMPS and mentions port 443 as a configuration to try. For a timeout, verify the server URL and RTMPS support in the encoder. Use the event’s actual URL rather than a sample hostname.
7. Escalate without exposing your stream key
When the earlier checks do not identify the cause, report the failure point rather than just saying the stream will not start. Tell support whether the source feed reaches Livepush, whether the YouTube destination is connected or enabled, which authentication method you use, and the exact status or error shown. For connected-account integration issues, Livepush offers help-center live chat. For a failure in software that signs in to YouTube, YouTube directs users to that software provider. Do not post or send your stream key publicly.
