Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →You can turn podcast episodes discovered through an RSS feed into a continuous YouTube livestream, but YouTube does not take the RSS feed itself as a live-video input. The working chain is an RSS reader or custom automation that queues episode media you are allowed to rebroadcast, a player that turns it into a continuous audio-and-video program, and an encoder that sends that program to YouTube.
YouTube documents the encoder and broadcast mechanics, including a 24/7-feed example in its Live Streaming API. It does not prescribe an RSS-to-playlist tool, so that part must be selected or built and tested separately. YouTube Live Streaming API guide
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has had no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and is operated by someone at least 16 years old. Check the channel’s current status in Live Control Room before building the workflow. YouTube live-streaming guidance
- An RSS reader or automation process that detects episode enclosure URLs and makes playable files available in a queue.
- A player or playout system that orders episodes, handles gaps or failures, and supplies audio plus a visual track such as podcast artwork or a branded scene.
- An encoder, such as OBS, that sends the continuous audio-video output to YouTube.
- Permission to rebroadcast, download, store, and, if applicable, monetize every episode and any music or other material it contains. An RSS URL is not proof of those rights.
RSS is the discovery and update mechanism; it is not the stream. In particular, an audio enclosure alone does not provide the video signal described in YouTube’s encoder and API documentation. YouTube encoder streaming guidance
Build the RSS-to-YouTube workflow
1. Decide how new episodes enter the queue
Choose or build a feed reader that checks for new episode enclosure URLs, stages permitted audio, and adds each episode to a deliberate playback order. Decide whether new episodes go at the front or back of the queue and whether older episodes repeat.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Define behavior for an empty queue, a temporarily unreachable enclosure, a changed or malformed feed, and a file that cannot be played. Keep a local or cloud copy only when your rights allow it and when it is needed for continuity. YouTube’s official material does not validate a particular RSS polling or playlist-rotation service, so confirm these behaviors in the automation you choose.
2. Create a continuous audio-and-video program
Configure the player to present the queued episodes as one ongoing program. Pair the audio with a stable visual track, such as podcast artwork or a branded scene. Confirm that episode transitions do not leave the player without output or unexpectedly end the program.

3. Set up YouTube’s stream and broadcast
In YouTube Live Control Room, create the live stream and broadcast, or use the Live Streaming API if you are building an automated integration. The API distinguishes the incoming liveStream resource from the viewer-facing liveBroadcast; it provides ingestion information, including a primary and optional backup address. Keep the stream key and ingestion credentials private. YouTube Live Streaming API guide
OBS can act as the software encoder, but it does not by itself read RSS feeds or schedule podcast episodes. You need the RSS and playout layers separately. Use the official OBS website if you choose it.

4. Test the whole chain before going public
- Run a test livestream and check the preview before starting the public broadcast.
- Verify the watch page on the channel and on a mobile device, and confirm the audio and visual track remain present.
- Test an episode boundary, a feed outage, an unreachable enclosure, and an empty queue.
- Restart the player and encoder to verify whether they resume without manual intervention.
- Test internet loss and any failover arrangement you have; these are operational tests to perform, not recovery functions YouTube promises automatically.
- Check any local archive you intend to keep and monitor audio and video quality continuously while streaming.
YouTube recommends testing the encoder, checking the preview, verifying the watch page, and monitoring stream quality. It says expensive equipment is not necessary to get started, while recommending professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events. YouTube encoder streaming guidance
Choose a broadcast design and plan for reliability
One continuous broadcast or separate events
A single always-on broadcast suits a radio-style podcast loop. YouTube’s API example shows one 24/7 broadcast remaining live while a separate interview broadcast is created from the same incoming stream. The API permits a stream to be bound to multiple broadcasts; for independent recurring shows that overlap or need different settings, separate stream resources may make more sense. This is an API capability example, not a guarantee of perpetual uptime. YouTube Live Streaming API guide

Monitor the encoder and connection
For OBS, rising dropped-frame counts and a yellow or red connection indicator point to an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Treat connection stability and bitrate as ongoing monitoring concerns; a stream intended to run unattended needs a plan for alerts and for restarting the host, player, or encoder after a failure. OBS dropped frames and connection issues
Compare the operational choices
| Approach | What it can do | What you must account for |
|---|---|---|
| Existing computer and software encoder | Can provide playout and encoding if configured for continuous audio-video output. | The computer, player, and internet connection must remain available; RSS queueing and recovery are separate tasks. |
| Dedicated computer or hardware encoder | May suit higher production complexity or operational requirements. | It does not by itself establish RSS parsing, episode rights, queue behavior, or guaranteed uptime. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required to start. |
| StreamNeo cloud service | Runs uploaded videos as a continuous YouTube stream from the cloud, without keeping a home computer on. | It plays uploaded videos rather than reading an RSS feed; you must supply media you are permitted to use and manage the episode playlist. |
No supported cost comparison is available here for a computer, hardware encoder, or hosted service beyond the StreamNeo plan information below.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos; it does not read an RSS feed or go live from a camera. For an RSS podcast, you would still need to obtain permitted episode media and arrange the playlist, then use StreamNeo for the continuous uploaded-video stream.
- Upload your recording or prepared podcast video.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home. Uploaded quality is preserved up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly plan is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for service details, then start the free first day.
Troubleshooting the chain
- YouTube receives no video: Confirm the player is supplying a visual track as well as audio, the encoder is running, and it is using the correct private stream key and ingestion information.
- The live output stops between episodes: Check the player’s end-of-file and queue-empty behavior. Configure it to move to the next item or a fallback visual rather than ending output.
- A new episode does not appear: Check whether the feed reader has detected the updated RSS item, whether its enclosure URL is reachable, and whether the file can be staged and played. YouTube does not perform this feed polling for you.
- OBS reports dropped frames or a warning color: OBS identifies an unstable connection or unsustainable bitrate as likely causes. Check connection stability and adjust bitrate to what the connection can sustain.
- The stream is interrupted after a power or network issue: Verify that the host, player, and encoder restart and reconnect as intended. A planned failover or alerting process is an operator responsibility; do not assume the YouTube API example means automatic recovery.
- An episode cannot be rebroadcast: Stop using it until you have confirmed permission for the relevant audio, music, and other included material. Availability in an RSS feed does not grant rebroadcast rights.
Copyright, archives, and YouTube policy
Confirm that you have permission for the exact uses involved: downloading or staging episodes, continuous public rebroadcast, storage, and monetization if you plan to monetize. Episode-level permission may not resolve rights in embedded music, clips, or third-party material. YouTube’s live setup guidance recommends testing and monitoring, but the technical ability to stream does not establish content rights. Also decide whether you want an archive and verify that it is being created as intended; the cited guidance does not guarantee that a stream or archive will remain available indefinitely.
