You can run a continuous YouTube music stream from OBS if your computer, power, internet connection and music rights can all support it for as long as the broadcast runs. Start with a bitrate your actual connection can sustain—not a speed figure assumed to apply across India—test the full setup before launch, and plan separately for interruptions and YouTube’s archive limit. This guide walks through those decisions and the OBS setup.
What you need for a 24/7 OBS music stream
OBS sends the encoded program from your computer to YouTube. A continuous broadcast therefore depends on the entire path staying available: the computer and OBS, power, your internet connection to YouTube’s ingest server, and music you are permitted to use live and in any replay. No OBS setting can guarantee uninterrupted service if one of those parts fails.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. Complete any activation prompts in YouTube Studio in advance; availability and eligibility steps can change.
- A computer capable of encoding your chosen video and audio settings continuously, with OBS installed and tested.
- A stable, sustained upload connection at the place where the computer will run.
- A prepared visual and playlist, plus rights to use every track in the live broadcast and any archived version.
- A plan for power or internet interruptions, monitoring, and whether you need your own complete recording.
For an Indian connection, the required upload capacity follows the bitrate you select and the route from your specific address to YouTube. The official YouTube guidance does not establish one minimum upload speed for all Indian creators or endorse a nationwide ISP choice. Check the terms of your specific plan—including sustained-upload, data-use and fair-use conditions—and measure the connection where the stream will run.
How much upload speed do you need?
Measure upload performance on the streaming computer, at the intended location and at more than one time of day. Look for the lowest stable result, not just the best reading. YouTube’s encoder guidance says to choose a quality that will produce a reliable stream based on the internet connection. Set OBS’s video bitrate comfortably below the upload capacity you can sustain, leaving room for normal variation and other traffic on the connection.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Connect the streaming computer to the router by Ethernet where practical; this avoids adding a wireless link to an already demanding continuous setup.
- Run repeated upload tests under realistic conditions, including the hours when you expect to broadcast. Also check what happens when other household or studio devices are using the connection.
- Choose a resolution and frame rate, then use the matching YouTube H.264 bitrate recommendation in the table below as a starting point—not as proof that your ISP can sustain it.
- Test OBS at that setting over the same network path you intend to use live. If dropped frames rise or the connection disconnects, reduce the bitrate and, if needed, resolution or frame rate, then test again.
A high speed-test result at one moment is not a continuous-service guarantee. Ask your ISP about the terms and capabilities of the plan at your service address; local routing, congestion and power conditions vary. YouTube and OBS do not publish a universal Indian speed threshold for this use.
Choose resolution, frame rate and encoder settings
For a mostly static music visual, 30 fps is a sensible starting point. Use 60 fps only if the visual content benefits from it and your measured connection and computer can sustain the corresponding encode. In YouTube’s current encoder guidance, these are the recommended H.264 video bitrates:
| Output target | YouTube-recommended H.264 video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 240p–720p at 30 fps | 4 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 12 Mbps |
Those are YouTube platform recommendations for the listed H.264 output targets, not promised minimums for every Indian connection or a guarantee against dropped frames. The same guidance supports H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 video, but gives separate minimum/maximum ranges for H.265 and AV1 rather than the same H.264 recommendation column. Don’t apply an H.264 figure to a different codec or target without checking YouTube’s current encoder-settings guidance. Recommendations can change.

Set the streaming output in OBS
- In OBS, open Settings > Output. If necessary, change Output Mode to Advanced to expose streaming controls. Choose an encoder and settings your computer can sustain continuously; test them before relying on them unattended.
- Set rate control to CBR and enter the bitrate appropriate to the resolution and frame rate you chose. YouTube recommends constant bitrate for live encoding.
- Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Set audio to AAC or MP3. For stereo audio, YouTube lists a sample rate of 44.1 kHz and an audio bitrate of 128 kbps.
- Open Settings > Video and choose a base canvas and output resolution that fit your artwork and upload capacity. Select 30 or 60 fps according to the target you tested; a still image or slow visualizer usually does not need 60 fps.
OBS labels and available encoder options can vary by version, operating system and hardware. YouTube’s supported live protocol is RTMP or RTMPS; it recommends RTMPS, the encrypted version. Confirm the current YouTube encoder requirements before launch rather than relying on an old saved profile.
Connect OBS to YouTube and start the broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio and use the Live Control Room to create or schedule the broadcast. Choose the intended visibility and enter its title and other stream details.
- Connect OBS as the encoder. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube and either connect the account if that option is available or enter the stream key supplied by YouTube.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not put it in a public scene, description, screenshot or message. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting again.
- In OBS, check that the intended scene, audio source, encoder and bitrate are active. Start streaming, then watch the Live Control Room for incoming video and stream health before making the broadcast public.
- Keep the OBS status and YouTube stream-health view accessible during the test and live program. A green or connected state at launch does not establish that a long-running stream will remain stable.
Test before leaving the stream unattended
Make a private or unlisted test using the same music, audio processing, scene changes, bitrate, computer and network path planned for the real broadcast. Confirm that the stream sounds and looks right at YouTube—not only in the OBS preview.
- Listen for clipping, unwanted silence, distortion and audio that drifts out of sync with the visual.
- Check OBS’s connection status and dropped-frame indicators, and check YouTube’s stream health.
- Test transitions between playlist items and verify that the program does not expose desktop alerts, private information or an unintended scene.
- Leave the test running long enough to reveal issues that a short launch check would miss, then review the connection and computer behavior.
- Decide who or what will notice and respond if the stream stops, the computer crashes, power fails, the internet drops or YouTube raises a rights warning.
For resilience, a wired connection, a backup internet path or a UPS sized for the computer and router may be useful options. They add cost and complexity and do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Choose them based on the consequences of an outage and the equipment load; no particular Indian provider, outage rate or backup capacity is established here.

Plan for YouTube’s live archive limit
YouTube may automatically archive a live stream that is shorter than 12 hours. Its archive guidance warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” A single 24-hour broadcast is therefore a poor choice if you depend on YouTube to preserve a complete replay.
If the full program matters, make and verify a local recording as well as the live stream. You can also plan shorter scheduled broadcasts and transitions, but confirm that your channel’s workflow supports the handoff you intend. YouTube’s guidance does not establish a required restart cadence, and an automatic YouTube archive should not be treated as your only backup.
Clear music rights for both live use and replay
Before adding a track, confirm that the rights cover the exact use. Permission to download, purchase or include music in an ordinary edited video does not automatically establish permission for continuous live playback or an archived replay.

- Check whether the license covers YouTube livestreaming, archived VOD, monetization, your territories, the specific channel, and continuous or playlist use.
- Use original music, public-domain works whose status you have verified, or music with written terms that explicitly cover the intended uses.
- For licensed music, check whether the rightsholder must add your channel to a Content ID allowlist. YouTube says a licensed stream can still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted when required.
- Do not assume that “royalty-free,” a free download, a credit in the description or a purchase receipt prevents a Content ID claim or proves livestream rights.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; it can replace audio, interrupt or terminate a broadcast. Its Creator Music licensing and revenue-sharing tracks are not available for use in live streams. YouTube’s guidance also says expansion of Creator Music beyond US creators in the YouTube Partner Program is pending, so it is not a solution for licensing this livestream. YouTube identifies its Audio Library as a source of copyright-safe music in general guidance, but check the terms for each track and the use you plan to make of it.

Copyright permission and YouTube Partner Program eligibility are separate questions. YouTube applies monetization policies to livestreams. Its July 15, 2025 policy update clarified “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and describes repetitive or mass-produced material as ineligible; reused-content review is separate from copyright enforcement. YouTube’s examples include collections of songs from different artists that can fail reused-content review even when the creator has permission.
Owning or licensing the tracks therefore does not guarantee monetization. Original composition, meaningful curation, distinctive visuals or context and the channel’s overall original value may matter in review, but none guarantees acceptance.

Troubleshoot common 24/7 stream problems
| Symptom | Likely area to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| OBS shows increasing dropped frames or disconnects | Network path from the computer to YouTube’s ingest server, or bitrate above stable upload capacity. | Reduce bitrate; if needed, reduce resolution or frame rate. Re-test at the stream location, check other network traffic, and inspect router, cabling and ISP service. OBS identifies dropped frames or intermittent disconnections as a network issue. |
| YouTube does not receive the OBS stream | Stream key, selected service, connection or ingest path. | Confirm the correct YouTube broadcast and stream key are selected, ensure the key has not been replaced, and reconnect from OBS. Keep the key private; if exposed, rotate it in YouTube Studio. |
| OBS connects, but YouTube reports poor stream health | Unstable upload, unsuitable bitrate, encoding load or a mismatch in output settings. | Compare the actual output with YouTube’s recommended row, reduce the encode target and repeat a private test while watching both OBS and YouTube status. |
| Stream stops after a rights warning or audio is replaced | Third-party music detection, incomplete license scope or missing Content ID allowlisting. | Stop using the affected track until you verify live and replay rights. Contact the rightsholder about allowlisting if the license requires it; a description credit alone is not a fix. |
| The complete 24-hour program is missing from the channel | The broadcast exceeded YouTube’s stated 12-hour archive threshold. | Keep a local recording and plan shorter scheduled sessions if a dependable replay is important. Do not assume one 24-hour live session will be archived in full. |
| The stream stops during a power or computer failure | OBS runs on the local computer and depends on its power and operating state. | Restore power or the computer, reconnect OBS and check the YouTube broadcast state. Consider a suitably sized UPS or a backup plan if the cost of interruption warrants it; neither guarantees uninterrupted operation. |
