How to Add Song Names to a 24/7 Indian Music Stream on YouTube

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To show the current song title during a 24/7 YouTube music stream, add a now-playing graphic as an overlay in your streaming setup. The overlay needs a source for song names—such as synchronized chapters or a prepared playlist for a fixed sequence, or current-track metadata from a compatible player. YouTube’s live-stream title and description identify the broadcast; they are not documented as a changing per-song display.

Choose where the overlay will get song names

The right setup depends on how your music is played. A title graphic can only stay accurate if its information follows the same sequence and timing as the audio.

Metadata source Best fit What to verify
Chapters or a prepared playlist A fixed, known sequence of tracks Titles and transitions must match the actual playback order and timing. An OBS forum resource describes YouTube chapters and a video-description playlist as possible title inputs, but does not guarantee compatibility with every setup.
Player-driven metadata A player that exposes the currently playing track to a compatible integration Confirm the integration can read the exact player and playlist you use; universal compatibility is not established.
YouTube live event title and description Naming and describing the broadcast as a whole These are broadcast-level fields, not a documented on-screen label that changes for each song. YouTube Live Streaming API: liveStreams and LiveBroadcasts reference describe event metadata.

The OBS forum resource describes a browser-based “Music on stream” overlay with YouTube and YouTube Music support and possible inputs based on chapters or a video-description playlist. Treat it as an example workflow, not a guarantee: the resource does not establish correct synchronization with every player, playlist format, encoder, or continuous broadcast. OBS forum resource: Music on stream

Set up and test a now-playing overlay

  1. Map the playback sequence. Decide whether tracks play in a fixed order or are selected dynamically. For a fixed sequence, prepare chapter times or a playlist that reflects the actual order. For a dynamic player, identify an integration that can receive its current-track metadata.
  2. Add the overlay to the streaming scene. In OBS, add the compatible overlay as a Browser Source, following that overlay’s own setup instructions. The cited resource describes a browser-based approach; exact installation steps and compatibility depend on the tool and are not established for every configuration.
  3. Make the label readable. Position it where it does not cover important imagery or other on-screen information. Check that long song names and artist names fit the display and remain legible at the resolution viewers will see.
  4. Run a private or unlisted test. Compare the displayed title with the audio at the start of a track and at each transition. Check spelling, ordering, timing, and what happens when a title is missing or the player changes tracks.
  5. Recheck after changes. If you replace the playlist, edit chapter timings, or change playback sources, test the overlay again before relying on it for the 24/7 stream.

There is no universal YouTube setting documented in the cited sources that automatically identifies every song and displays its title as tracks change. The title source and overlay have to be configured for the particular playback workflow.

Keep song labels separate from YouTube’s broadcast metadata

YouTube’s Live Streaming API documents title and description fields for the live stream resource, while the LiveBroadcasts reference covers broadcast-level information such as title, description, start and end times, and privacy settings. Those fields describe the event; they do not provide the changing, on-screen per-song label this setup requires. Use a separate overlay for visible track names.

Song names do not clear music rights

Displaying a track’s name or artist does not grant permission to broadcast the recording. YouTube says it scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content. Identified material can cause a placeholder image to replace the stream, and continued use can interrupt or terminate it. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams

If you have licensed third-party music, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the stream to avoid interruption. Keep documentation of the permissions that apply to your use and confirm any required allowlisting with the rights owner. A song label, overlay, or stream URL does not resolve licensing.

YouTube’s Live Content ID matching is not a general-purpose song-identification overlay. YouTube says it is available only to certain Content Manager partners and requires global rights and exclusive ownership of the content in the stream. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams

Or let it run in the cloud

If the music and playlist are ready and the goal is an always-on YouTube channel, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it is not a live camera feed. Song-name overlays and their metadata still need to be configured and tested in the production workflow.
