YouTube says eligible creators receive 70% of Super Chat and Super Sticker revenue confirmed by Google, after local sales tax and any applicable iOS App Store fees are deducted. YouTube retains the remaining 30% of that post-deduction amount—not necessarily 30% of the viewer’s full displayed payment. Its public documentation does not specify one fixed rupee payout for every Indian purchase.
How the Super Chat deduction is calculated
- Start with the revenue confirmed by Google. YouTube calculates the creator’s share from this amount, not automatically from the full amount the viewer paid.
- Exclude local sales tax. YouTube’s partner-earnings guidance says transaction taxes, including GST as a category, are not revenue to Google and are excluded from the partner revenue-share calculation.
- Subtract applicable iOS App Store fees. YouTube says these fees are deducted before the creator share is calculated.
- Apply the 70% share. The creator receives 70% of the remaining eligible revenue. The other 30% is YouTube’s share of that same post-deduction base.
YouTube also says it currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. Its stated 70% share and the corresponding 30% remainder are not a promise of a particular rupee amount for an individual Super Chat. Why the viewer’s payment and creator’s share can differ
The viewer’s payment can include local sales tax, and an iOS purchase can also involve an applicable App Store fee. Those amounts are accounted for before YouTube applies the 70% creator share. As a result, multiplying the viewer’s displayed payment by 70% may not give the creator’s share.
YouTube’s public help pages do not provide a universal India-specific tax rate, App Store fee amount, or final rupee payout per Super Chat. Without the purchase amount, applicable tax, and purchase route, a rupee example would imply precision the documentation does not establish.

Does the purchase route matter in India?

Where to check your own reported earnings
For your channel’s figures, open YouTube Analytics and go to Revenue, then How you make money. To review the terms that apply to your channel, open YouTube Studio → Settings → Agreements. Your reported YouTube earnings are separate from any tax liability you may have as a creator in your country or region of residence.

Keeping a YouTube stream running is a separate issue
