PC Slower Than It Used to Be?

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFor a 24/7 YouTube stream, first enable channel memberships in YouTube Studio. YouTube then shows a green new-member message in live chat when someone joins while the stream is live. For an animated alert over the video, connect one overlay service—Streamlabs or StreamElements—and add its widget or browser source to the scene that runs continuously. Test it in that scene, because the available documentation does not guarantee alerts will recover after an encoder restart or stream interruption.
Make sure channel memberships are available
In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Memberships. If the feature is available for your channel, select Get started, follow the prompts to set up membership levels and perks, and accept the Commerce Product Module. YouTube says activation may take up to two days after YouTube Partner Program acceptance while the channel is reviewed against feature requirements. See YouTube’s activation instructions and membership management help.
YouTube’s expanded YPP entry path lists 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the previous 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 365 days or 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days. Memberships also have additional conditions: the creator must be at least 18, live where memberships are available, accept the Commerce Product Module, and meet channel-specific criteria. These thresholds do not guarantee that memberships are enabled for a particular channel. Check your own Studio Earn tab for the current status and options; YouTube’s eligibility details are at How to earn money on YouTube.
Choose where the member alert should appear
YouTube live chat: built in
When someone joins while your live stream is running, YouTube displays a bright green “New member” message in live chat and pins the member’s profile picture at the top of chat for five minutes. This needs no separate overlay, but it appears in chat rather than as a custom animation over the video. YouTube does not send the creator a notification when someone joins while the creator is offline, as explained in its membership management instructions.

On-video alert: Streamlabs or StreamElements
An overlay can show a visual event on top of the broadcast. Both services document ways to display YouTube membership alerts, but neither source establishes guaranteed delivery through every 24/7 encoder restart, stream outage, or reconnect process. Choose the service that fits your existing setup and test it in the scene used for the always-on stream.
Set up a Streamlabs membership alert
- Connect the right channel. Link the YouTube account that owns the channel memberships in Streamlabs. Check the account name before configuring events.
- Configure the event. Open Alert Box in Streamlabs and set the YouTube Members event’s appearance, including any visual or sound behavior you want. Streamlabs also documents variations for membership events, including gifting; see its YouTube alert setup guide and gift-membership alert notes.
- Add the alert to the broadcast scene. In Streamlabs Desktop or OBS, add the Alert Box widget to the scene. For other software, use the widget URL as a browser source if the software supports browser sources. Keep it above the video layer so the alert is visible.
- Test and inspect. Use the dashboard’s test function, then confirm the browser source or widget appears and that the sound and animation behave as intended in the actual 24/7 scene. Streamlabs’ alert setup instructions cover widget setup and testing.
Set up a StreamElements membership alert
- Sign in with the channel account. Connect the YouTube account that manages the channel memberships.
- Customize an overlay. In the StreamElements overlay editor, configure the member alert’s appearance and add it to an overlay. StreamElements describes real-time pop-up alerts for newest YouTube members in its YouTube Creators information.
- Add the overlay to the encoder scene. StreamElements recommends OBS with SE.live and also supports streaming software that accepts browser sources. Add the browser source to the intended always-on scene and place it above the video layer. YouTube’s page on third-party integrations for Super Chat and channel memberships also points creators to Streamlabs and StreamElements for membership overlays and live alerts.
- Test in context. Trigger a test alert using the service’s available test controls. Verify its placement, visibility, and audio in the actual scene, then repeat the check after changing scenes or reconnecting the encoder.
Test and maintain alerts on a 24/7 stream
- Confirm the alert source is in the scene that is actually being broadcast, not only a setup or preview scene.
- Check that the correct YouTube channel is linked and the member event is enabled.
- Make sure the widget or browser source sits above the video layer and is not hidden or covered by another source.
- Test both the visual and audio behavior. If the broadcast should be quiet, disable or adjust alert audio rather than assuming the visual test covers it.
- Repeat a test after changing the scene, updating the overlay, or reconnecting the encoder. The available service documentation does not specify a guarantee that queued alerts recover after a 24/7 stream interruption.
Troubleshoot a membership alert that does not appear
| What you see | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No built-in message in chat | Was the person joining while the stream was live, and are memberships active for this channel? | Check the Studio Earn > Memberships tab. YouTube’s built-in chat message applies when a member joins during a live stream; YouTube does not notify the creator about joins while offline. |
| No overlay during a test | Is the correct channel connected, is the Members event enabled, and is the widget/browser source in the active scene? | Verify the account and event settings, add the source to the live scene, bring it above the video layer, and run the service’s test again. |
| Alert works in preview but not on the broadcast | Is the tested source in the scene currently being sent to YouTube? | Inspect the live scene and its source visibility and stacking order; test that scene rather than relying only on the overlay editor preview. |
| Alert behavior changes after a reconnect | Did the encoder restart or switch scenes, and is the browser source still loaded and visible? | Re-test the source after reconnecting and check its scene placement and event configuration. The cited setup documentation does not establish alert-queue recovery guarantees during an outage. |
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is #1 for keeping a pre-recorded YouTube stream running: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so the stream can continue with your computer off. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It is separate from membership-alert setup: continue to configure and test chat recognition or an overlay as described above.
