Then, in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, turn Monetization on for the stream and choose automatic, scheduled, or manual mid-roll ads. YouTube does not list a separate ad setting for 24/7 streams, and enabling an ad slot does not guarantee that an ad will fill it.

Meet the full YPP ad-revenue requirements
YouTube’s full ad-revenue tier requires 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the past 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days. Reaching a threshold does not automatically enroll a channel: YouTube reviews it against monetization policies. The account must also meet YouTube’s setup requirements, including being in a country or region where YPP is available, having no active Community Guidelines strikes, enabling 2-Step Verification, having access to advanced features, and linking an AdSense for YouTube account. Accept the Watch Page Monetization Module
To earn ad and YouTube Premium revenue from livestreams on the Watch Page, accept the Watch Page Monetization Module in Studio’s Earn area. This acceptance is separate from switching Monetization on for an individual live broadcast. YouTube monetization modules.
India-specific context
YouTube’s July 7, 2026 India announcement names Gifts, memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks among features available in the Indian creator context. These fan-funding features are additional options, not prerequisites for livestream ad revenue. YouTube’s India announcement.

In the Live Control Room, open Edit → Monetization and set Monetization to On.

Choose how to handle mid-roll ads: automatic, scheduled, or manual. The differences are explained below.

When livestream monetization is enabled, pre-roll and display ads are automatically turned on. YouTube may serve mid-rolls according to your chosen approach, but it decides whether to fill each available ad slot. An enabled slot is not a promise that an ad will play. Monetize your live stream.
Choose a mid-roll approach

YouTube reported that creators who chose automatic live mid-rolls saw over 20% average uplift in instream ad revenue per hour. This was YouTube’s average measurement across 207 countries in January 2024, not a forecast or guarantee for an individual channel. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.
What changes—and what does not—when the stream runs 24/7
A continuous broadcast is an operating choice, not a shortcut around YPP acceptance, the Watch Page Monetization Module, or YouTube’s content policies. The standard livestream ad controls apply; YouTube’s instructions do not specify a separate 24/7 ad toggle.

Can a 24/7 stream count toward 4,000 public watch hours?
YouTube says qualified watch hours can come from public long-form videos and archived livestreams. Unarchived live-stream time does not count toward that eligibility threshold. The guidance does not establish a universal maximum duration or guarantee that every continuous broadcast will archive in a way that qualifies, so do not assume a 24/7 stream will count. Livestreams remain subject to YouTube’s channel monetization policies and advertiser-friendly content guidelines. Age restriction or limited-ad suitability can prevent or reduce monetization. Monetization controls are unavailable: Check the channel’s status in Studio’s Earn area, including YPP acceptance and whether the Watch Page Monetization Module has been accepted. Meeting the subscriber and watch-time or Shorts-view threshold alone is not approval.

Monetization is on, but no ad appears: YouTube does not guarantee ads for every slot. Check the stream’s setting and your selected mid-roll method; the ad system decides whether to fill an available slot.

No manual mid-roll appears: Manual breaks must be inserted while live. If none are inserted, no manual mid-rolls will be served.

Watch hours did not rise toward YPP eligibility: Confirm whether the livestream is public and archived. Unarchived livestream time is not included in qualified public watch hours.

Ads are limited or unavailable on some content: Review age restriction, advertiser-friendly suitability, rights, and channel monetization policy issues in Studio. Livestream status does not override those rules.
For a continuous stream, the broadcast still needs to stay online
YouTube Studio’s ad controls determine whether monetization and ad breaks are enabled; they do not keep a broadcast running. If you are operating the stream yourself, plan for the computer or encoder, network connection, and interruptions that can end a long-running broadcast. Equipment is not what unlocks YPP or ad serving.
