If a pause repeats whenever your YouTube Live video loops, check the playback source and the file’s end-to-start boundary. In OBS, enable Loop on a Media Source for one file, or Loop Playlist on a VLC Video Source for a playlist. Those settings repeat playback; OBS does not promise that audio will join seamlessly at the boundary. Preview several repeats and listen before going live.
First, identify which kind of loop you mean
YouTube’s Loop feature repeats a video or playlist while you watch it. It does not control the audio of a creator’s live stream. If the pause occurs in your outgoing live program, investigate the source that plays the media in your streaming software. YouTube Help explains how to loop videos or playlists while watching.
Set the repeat control in OBS
For one local video file: Media Source
- In OBS, select the Media Source that plays the file in your scene. If needed, add one with Sources → + → Media Source.
- Open the source’s properties and enable Loop. OBS describes this option as specifying whether the file plays again once playback has completed.
- Apply the change, then preview the source across multiple repeats.
For a playlist: VLC Video Source
- Add or select a VLC Video Source and make sure its playlist contains the intended media.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties.
- Check the source’s visibility behavior. OBS exposes options that affect whether playback stops, pauses, or continues when the source is not visible; choose behavior that fits how your scenes use the source.
- Preview several playlist cycles and listen at each transition.
OBS documents both source types and their repeat controls in its Media Sources guide. Media Source is the straightforward option for a single file; VLC Video Source is useful when you need a playlist. Neither documented loop control guarantees gapless audio.
Find where the pause is coming from
Inspect the media boundary
Listen to the end and beginning of the file in an editor or preview workflow. Check whether silence is already present at either end, or whether the edit creates an audible break. If the silence is part of the file, changing OBS’s repeat checkbox will not remove it; edit the boundary and export a revised file, then test it again.

Test the actual OBS output
Make a local preview or recording and listen across several repeat points before starting the live stream. If the pause recurs at precisely the same transition, the file boundary or source playback behavior is a practical place to investigate, though that pattern alone does not establish one universal cause. Testing the complete OBS output helps distinguish a source issue from something noticed only in the live playback path.
Do not assume a format conversion will fix it
Changing a file to WAV is not a guaranteed remedy. In one OBS forum thread, a user reported that exporting to WAV did not resolve their timing mismatch. That is an individual report, not a general test or recommendation. See the OBS forum discussion.

What VLC’s extra controls do—and do not establish
VLC Video Source exposes visibility behavior and a network-caching setting. OBS documents a 400 ms default for network caching, but does not say that changing it removes a gap at a local file’s repeat boundary. Treat it as a setting to investigate only when relevant to your source; do not change it expecting a guaranteed seamless loop.
For a single local file, you may not need VLC playlist controls at all. No special hardware is established as necessary for this symptom: start with the source setting, the media boundary, and a repeat test.
