To put a repeating playlist into a live broadcast, add the files to an OBS VLC Video Source and enable Loop Playlist. Install VLC first; for one video rather than a playlist, OBS’s Media Source has its own Loop option. YouTube’s player Loop control is different: it repeats a playlist for viewers watching on YouTube, but does not put that playlist into your broadcast.
Choose where the playlist should repeat
There are two separate workflows, depending on what you mean by “play continuously”:

The OBS steps below are for local media files. The OBS Project’s documentation does not establish that a YouTube playlist URL can be entered directly as a VLC Video Source playlist, so use files you have available locally rather than assuming a playlist link will work.
Loop a playlist in an OBS live broadcast
Set up the VLC Video Source
- Install VLC on the computer running OBS. If you use 64-bit OBS, the OBS Project specifies that you need 64-bit VLC.
- In OBS, select the scene where the playlist should appear. In the Sources dock, click + and choose VLC Video Source. If that source is not available, check that VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS.
- Create or select the source, then add the local media files to its playlist. Arrange them in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist. OBS describes this setting as restarting the source when it has run out of media files. When the last item finishes, playback should return to the start of the playlist.
- Choose whether to enable Shuffle Playlist. Leave it off for the listed order; turn it on if you want the source to randomize playback.
- Set Visibility Behaviour to determine what happens when the source is not visible in the scene: continue, pause, or stop playback. Choose based on whether the playlist should keep progressing off-screen or restart or resume when shown again.
- Check the OBS preview to confirm the media appears as intended, then start the live broadcast when you are ready.
These VLC Video Source controls are documented by the OBS Project in its Media Sources guide, published January 11, 2022. Interface labels can change, so consult the current OBS interface if a control appears in a different place.

Loop one video file in OBS
If you only need one local video to repeat, use a Media Source rather than building a VLC playlist:
- In the OBS scene, select + in the Sources dock and choose Media Source.
- Add or select the local video file in the source properties.
- Enable Loop. OBS defines this option as playing the file again after playback completes.
- Check the preview and confirm the source is visible in the scene before starting the broadcast.
For multiple files, use VLC Video Source and Loop Playlist; the Media Source Loop option is for repeating a single file.

Repeat a playlist while watching YouTube
If you are watching a playlist rather than broadcasting it, open a video in the playlist, expand the playlist box, and click Loop. On a TV or game console, YouTube Help describes using the playlist’s Repeat control. These controls affect playback in YouTube’s player; they do not send the playlist into OBS or create a live broadcast. See YouTube Help’s instructions for looping videos or playlists.

Copyright and permissions still matter
Looping media through OBS changes how it is played, not whether you have the right to broadcast it. This setup guide does not establish permission to rebroadcast third-party YouTube videos or other protected material. Use media you own or are authorized to use, and check applicable copyright and YouTube rules before going live.
