Your channel must be eligible for live streaming, and a continuous broadcast needs an encoder and computer that remain online—or a cloud service that runs the stream for you. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours; do not assume it will automatically save one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s current help guidance also sets the minimum age for livestreaming at 16. Check eligibility before preparing a long-running broadcast. YouTube: Get started with live streaming.
- An encoder: software or hardware that can send a composed audio-and-image feed to YouTube. The exact controls for adding a still image, audio file, and repeat behavior depend on the encoder you choose.
- An image and audio you have permission to use for a livestream. YouTube says creators should ensure they have the rights to the audio and video in their stream. YouTube: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- A reliable internet connection and a computer that can run the encoder continuously if you are using a local setup.
YouTube documents the encoder connection and broadcast workflow, but does not provide one universal recipe for composing a still image with an audio file. That part is encoder-dependent: configure the still as the visual source and the audio as the sound source, then make the encoder repeat or sustain them as required by your chosen software.
Set up the still image and audio stream
1. Prepare the media and decide how it will repeat
Choose an image and an audio source suitable for the entire period you intend to stream. Confirm that you have permission to use both, including any music, narration, artwork, or other material they contain. If your audio is shorter than the planned broadcast, check that your encoder can loop it without a gap or unintended silence. Repeat controls vary by encoder; consult its documentation rather than assuming YouTube will loop the media for you.
2. Create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Open the Stream tab to create an encoder stream, or use Manage to schedule one.
- If you schedule the stream, use its watch page to share the upcoming broadcast; viewers can set reminders.
For YouTube’s encoder workflow and the Go Live sequence, see Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Add the image and audio in your encoder
Create a scene or equivalent composition with the still image as the visual and your chosen audio as the sound source. Set the image to remain visible and configure the audio to continue or repeat for the intended stream duration. Menu names and source settings depend on the encoder, so follow that software’s instructions for adding media and looping playback.
4. Connect the encoder to YouTube
- In YouTube Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key associated with the broadcast.
- In your encoder’s streaming settings, paste the URL and key into the matching fields. Use YouTube’s RTMPS server URL if your encoder supports it; YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the connection.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not share it publicly, and reset it in YouTube if you believe it has been exposed.
YouTube explains stream keys and related controls in Manage live stream settings; encoder connection details are in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

5. Test, preview, and start the broadcast
- Before the scheduled broadcast, send a test feed with representative audio. Confirm the still image appears as expected and the sound is audible and continuous.
- Check the Live Control Room preview, stream health, watch-page access, and audio quality. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring the stream. YouTube live streaming tips.
- When the encoder feed appears in the preview and is ready, select Go live in Live Control Room.
- Keep monitoring the broadcast while it runs. A static image cannot demonstrate motion behavior, but audio continuity and stream health can still be checked.
Choose encoder settings for your actual output
There is no single bitrate that suits every stream. Choose settings based on the output resolution, frame rate, codec, and the upload capacity of the internet connection carrying the feed. Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the applicable bitrate ranges and settings rather than copying a number intended for another resolution or frame rate: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
For this format, prioritize stable audio and a connection that can sustain the encoder’s selected output. YouTube recommends RTMPS when supported, to encrypt the connection. Test the selected settings before the real broadcast and monitor stream health once live.

Plan for a stream longer than 12 hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise an automatic archive for a continuous 24-hour broadcast. If you need a replay, do not rely on one uninterrupted day-long stream being saved automatically; plan separately for how you will retain or publish the recording. YouTube’s encoder-stream guidance.
Local encoder or cloud streaming?
Run an encoder on your own computer
A local setup gives you direct control over the encoder and media sources, but the computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available for the broadcast to continue. A dedicated mini PC is optional, not a YouTube requirement; YouTube does not specify a minimum computer configuration for this still-image-and-audio use case. A suitable computer you already own may be enough if it can run your chosen encoder reliably.

Use a hosted service
A hosted service can run a YouTube stream from the cloud, so the local computer does not have to stay on. YouTube’s help result describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video, but the cited result does not establish its current price, limits, or reliability. Check its current terms and capabilities before choosing it. YouTube Help result mentioning Gyre.

Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a livestream: Check that the channel is verified, has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days, and meets YouTube’s minimum age guidance. See Get started with live streaming.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Check that the stream URL and key in the encoder match the current broadcast in Live Control Room. If a key may have been exposed, reset it and update the encoder with the new one.
- The preview appears, but the image or audio is wrong: Check the encoder’s selected scene and media sources, confirm the correct image and audio are active, and test the audio before going live. Source controls differ by encoder.
- The audio stops or falls silent: Check the audio source’s playback and repeat behavior in the encoder. YouTube does not configure looping for the source; that behavior depends on the encoder and media setup.
- The stream health is poor or the feed is unstable: Review the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate against YouTube’s guidance and the connection’s capacity. Monitor Live Control Room rather than assuming the stream will remain healthy.
- You need a saved replay of a 24-hour broadcast: YouTube’s automatic archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours, not an uninterrupted 24-hour stream. Arrange a separate recording or archive plan.
Keep the content and rights in order
A livestream is still subject to YouTube’s rules and copyright requirements. Use only audio and visuals you are authorized to stream, and keep permission records where applicable. A still image does not change the need to clear rights for the music, artwork, or other content included in the broadcast.
