The tour supported Hackney Diamonds, the Stones’ 2023 album. The Associated Press described it as the band’s first album of original music since 2005.
Who opened for the Stones in Houston?
Gary Clark Jr. was the Houston support act, the Associated Press reported. Ticketmaster’s broader list of 2024 tour openers covers different dates as well; it should not be read as the Houston bill. The Houston show listing on Setlist.fm records Clark Jr. beginning at 8:00 p.m. and the Stones at 9:15 p.m., though that listing is a maintained concert database entry rather than an official band schedule.

What was the Rolling Stones’ Houston setlist?
The Associated Press characterized the NRG Stadium performance as an 18-song, roughly two-hour show. Setlist.fm records the following order:
- “Start Me Up”
- “Get Off of My Cloud”
- “Rocks Off”
- “Out of Time”
- “Angry”
- “Beast of Burden”
- “Mess It Up”
- “Tumbling Dice”
- “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”
- “I Wanna Be Your Man”
- “Miss You”
- “Gimme Shelter”
- “Honky Tonk Women”
- “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”
- “Midnight Rambler”
- “Paint It Black”
- “Sympathy for the Devil”
- “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”
Setlist.fm marks “Out of Time” as the band’s first North American performance and “Beast of Burden” as fan-voted. Its album grouping identifies three songs from Hackney Diamonds: “Angry,” “Mess It Up,” and “Sweet Sounds of Heaven.” The same entry labels “Mess It Up” a live debut; its track list places “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” in the performance, though not in the sequence above.

The set paired new album material such as “Angry” and “Mess It Up” with familiar songs including “Gimme Shelter,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Start Me Up,” and “Sympathy for the Devil.” The Associated Press also reported that Mick Jagger told the crowd, “It’s great to be back in the Lone Star State,” and later said, “I had an amazing trip to the space center.”
What was the tour supporting?
Hackney Diamonds was the focus of the tour, with three tracks represented in the Houston setlist grouping. The official Rolling Stones store lists the album in a 2LP vinyl format; that is a listing of the album, distinct from tour memorabilia such as the store’s dateback T-shirt, setlist lithograph, commemorative ticket, and laminate and lanyard. A listing does not establish current stock.

What the band said about the tour
Before the Houston concert, the Associated Press quoted the Stones’ production director, Dale Skjerseth, saying, “The energy level is up and it’s always up with them. The age doesn’t show.” Asked whether the group might retire, he said, “This is not the end. They’re very enthused.” Those were Skjerseth’s comments at the time, not a guarantee of future touring.
