What is Brad Pitt’s watch in F1?
IWC identifies Sonny Hayes’s film watch as a custom prop based on the Ingenieur SL ref. 1832. The company says it was created in collaboration with Brad Pitt and Cloister Watch Company, with a green dial chosen to reflect the character. These details describe the film prop; they do not establish that it is an unmodified vintage production watch.
The headline claim that Pitt was confirmed wearing the watch on the movie set appeared in a 2024 Time+Tide Watches article. The article’s body could not be inspected, so its specific account of an on-set sighting cannot be independently detailed here. IWC’s own announcement confirms the prop’s identity and collaboration, rather than a particular sighting at a named place or time.

IWC lists the IW328908 with a green grid-pattern dial, gold-colored appliqués, 10 bar water resistance, manufacture caliber 32111, and a stated 120-hour power reserve. Those specifications belong to the commercial edition; they should not be assumed to describe the customized prop.
If searching for a vintage Ingenieur SL ref. 1832, remember that a listing for the reference is not evidence that it is the movie prop. Check the seller’s documentation, the watch’s originality and service history, and the seller’s standing. No current marketplace listing or authenticity claim is established here.

How the IWC partnership fits into the film
IWC announced its partnership with Apple Original Films’ F1 feature on 2 July 2024, saying it would sponsor the fictional APX GP team and that selected Pilot’s Watches would appear on characters’ wrists. Its later, 1 April 2025 announcement distinguished the Ingenieur prop from other film-associated watches, including the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 ref. IW388309 worn by Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris, and APXGP-themed Pilot’s Watch Chronographs refs. IW378009 and IW388116. These are separate watches, not alternatives to Pitt’s Ingenieur prop.
IWC framed the partnership as a motorsport connection. In its 2024 announcement, CEO Chris Grainger-Herr said: “We are a brand with a long-standing connection to motorsport, so we could not miss out on the opportunity to become a part of this project.”
