Yes, you can watch live football on Amazon Prime Video—but not every league or match, and the lineup depends on where you are. In the United States, Prime Video is a home for selected NFL coverage, including Thursday Night Football, as well as some soccer. In parts of Europe, Amazon is one of several Champions League broadcasters. The specific match may be included with Prime, require a separate sports subscription or purchase, or be unavailable in your location.
Before subscribing, check the local listing for the exact competition and match. Prime Video is an event platform with region-specific rights, not a universal football pass.
First, what kind of football do you mean?
In the United States, “football” usually means American football, such as the NFL. In many other countries, it usually means association football, or soccer—the sport played in competitions such as the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. Prime Video’s offerings differ for each, so identify the sport, competition and match you want before choosing a subscription.
- American football: NFL games and related programming.
- Soccer: Selected matches in competitions such as the NWSL and UEFA Champions League, depending on territory and season.

Is football included with Amazon Prime?
There are three common ways to pay. The event page is the authority on what a particular match requires.
Included with a Prime membership
Some sports events are included with the relevant country’s Prime membership. Amazon’s U.S. guide lists Prime at $14.99 per month or $139 per year; those U.S. prices are a dated price signal, not a global rate. Eligibility discounts or trials may be available. Prices and sports inclusions vary by country and can change. Check the amount and renewal terms shown to you before subscribing.

A separate Prime Video subscription
Sports services may be offered as subscriptions through Prime Video. DAZN is one example, but an Amazon Prime membership does not automatically include it. Amazon’s U.S. guide lists DAZN through Prime Video at $29.99 per month; pay-per-view events cost extra. The displayed price and catalog can differ by country, and the Prime Video version may not match DAZN’s direct offer in price, package or features. If you subscribe through Amazon, billing and cancellation are handled in Amazon’s subscription-management flow. See Amazon’s DAZN guide.
A one-time event purchase
Some content may require a separate purchase even if you already pay for Prime or a sports add-on. On the event page, look for wording such as “Included with Prime,” “Subscribe,” “Rent or buy,” “Pay-per-view” or “Unavailable in your location.” Do not assume a monthly channel subscription includes its pay-per-view events.
How to find and watch a live match
- Open Prime Video in a browser or the app, and sign in to the Amazon account and country marketplace you intend to use.
- Find the event: look for the Live & upcoming row on the home page, or open the local sports or live-TV section. Search by competition, team or terms such as “NFL” or “soccer.”
- Open the specific match listing. Check its date, start time, included or paid status, required subscription, territorial availability and supported devices.
- Review any charge and renewal terms before subscribing or purchasing. Confirm the price displayed on your account is local and current.
- Return to the event page near kickoff and select “Watch live” or the equivalent control.
Amazon says live events appear in the Live & upcoming row. See its live-event listing for event-specific information.

How to watch on a TV, phone, console or browser
Amazon says live events are supported in web browsers and the Prime Video app on more than 650 connected devices. Device families include Fire TV and Fire tablets, compatible smart TVs, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Chromecast, Roku, Apple TV, set-top boxes and media players, Blu-ray players, and iOS and Android phones and tablets.
That is a platform-level device count, not a guarantee for every model, country, event or feature. Check the listing for your match; older devices may require an app update or may no longer be supported. Amazon’s live-event help page describes device support and availability restrictions.

Why a match may be unavailable
Broadcast rights or a location restriction
“Unavailable” can mean the event is not licensed in your territory, is subject to a national or regional restriction, or has been rescheduled or removed. A listing of Amazon as a competition partner does not prove that a particular match is included there. Confirm the match with the competition’s official broadcaster page and the local Prime Video event page.
Account region, travel or home-region verification
Check that you are signed in to the correct Amazon marketplace and that the event is offered there. Travelers, students abroad, people who have moved, and households using accounts across countries may encounter home-region verification. Amazon says viewers may need to sign in on a device in their home region to verify location and continue streaming.
VPNs, proxies and location settings
A VPN does not grant broadcast rights and is not a reliable fix; it may interfere with location checks or trigger an availability error. Do not buy an add-on until the event page confirms that the match is offered in your territory.

- On a mobile device, enable location services for Prime Video, then reopen the app.
- Check that antivirus or privacy software is not blocking location access.
- Reopen the match from your local Prime Video site and confirm its terms.
Amazon lists regional rights, location services and home-region verification among possible causes of live-event access problems in its help information.
Buffering or a poor stream
First confirm the problem is not a subscription or rights issue. For buffering, update the Prime Video app, restart it and the streaming device, and reboot the router. On a television, Ethernet or a strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection can be more reliable than a congested wireless connection. Stream quality can vary with bandwidth and device capability; these steps cannot remove a blackout or unlock an unlicensed match.
Can you pause, rewind or replay a match?
Do not assume every event has DVR-style controls. Support for pausing, restarting from the beginning, rewinding, fast-forwarding, replaying after the event, or recording and downloading depends on the event. Check the event’s controls and the live-sports information before kickoff if a particular feature matters to you.
Is Prime Video the right service for your football?
Compare services for the exact competition and territory rather than choosing by brand alone.
- Rights: Is the match licensed locally?
- Completeness: Does the service carry every match you want or only selected games?
- Total cost: Add Prime, any sports subscription and any pay-per-view charge.
- Commitment: Check monthly or annual terms, renewal and cancellation.
- Features and devices: Confirm the controls and screen you need are supported for that event.
- Convenience and billing: Decide whether one Amazon interface is worth using instead of the sports provider’s own app and account.
- Language and commentary: Check the available feed for international matches.
Prime Video is a sensible fit if you already have Prime and the match you want is included locally, or if you value the Amazon interface for a suitable add-on. It is a poor fit if you expect one subscription to cover every league or match, or if the local rights holder offers a more complete package for the competition you follow.
For U.S. viewers, Amazon identifies Peacock for Premier League coverage, while UEFA’s 2025/26 U.S. listing names Paramount+, TUDN and DAZN for the Champions League—not Prime Video. NFL fans should check the NFL+ offer against their needs and local availability. These are rights-holder alternatives, not universal substitutes; confirm match coverage and terms before paying.
