In Google’s “#BestPhonesForever: Must Be Santa” commercial, the iPhone’s holiday wishlist includes three Pixel features: Magic Editor, Best Take and Audio Magic Eraser. Pixel delivers the punchline by explaining that Google engineers—not Santa—made them. Watch the official Made by Google ad, published November 22, 2023.
What happens in the commercial?
Pixel asks iPhone what it wants for the holidays. The iPhone character says it would like some of the AI tools Pixel has received, naming Magic Editor, Best Take and Audio Magic Eraser. When Pixel points out that Google engineers created the features, rather than Santa, iPhone asks for Google engineers as its gift.
The exchange turns a feature list into a short joke: the iPhone first treats Pixel’s capabilities as holiday presents, then asks for the people behind them. The complete exchange is in Google’s official video.
What are the three features in the iPhone’s wishlist?
Magic Editor
Google describes Magic Editor in Google Photos as a tool for substantial image edits, including moving or resizing a subject and changing parts of a background. The commercial refers to the Pixel 8 generation; features and eligibility may differ across later devices and software versions. See Google’s Magic Editor overview.
#1 Best Overall
- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Best Take
Best Take uses a set of similar group photos to help create a version in which people have expressions they prefer. It is not a guarantee that every group shot can be repaired: the result depends on having suitable photos to draw from. Google listed Best Take among the Pixel 8 camera features in its Pixel 8 specifications.
Audio Magic Eraser
Audio Magic Eraser is intended to reduce distracting sounds in video—such as wind, music or background noise—and make desired audio more prominent. It is a processing tool, not a promise of lossless restoration or perfect noise removal. Google’s Pixel 8-era AI-camera overview discusses the feature in the context of computational photography and audio.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Why make the iPhone ask for Pixel features?
The ad belongs to Google’s recurring #BestPhonesForever campaign, which gives Pixel and iPhone phone characters a friendly rivalry. Here, the iPhone’s wishlist lets Google frame Pixel’s photo and audio tools as desirable without staging a conventional head-to-head comparison. The joke also shifts attention from the features themselves to the engineers who built them.
That is Google’s creative premise, not an Apple statement or an independent verdict on which phone is better. The fictional iPhone character does not establish what iPhones can or cannot do, and the spot does not test competing tools.

How to read the ad in its original context
“Must Be Santa” was published November 22, 2023, during the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro era. Its feature references and positioning belong to that moment; the spot is not a current product announcement or a definitive comparison of 2026 phones. Google’s Pixel comparison page illustrates that feature availability varies by model, so the 2023 list should not be taken to mean every Pixel has the same tools today.
