The moment came hours after she posted that people were spreading “fake” material, prompting reports to connect her reaction with an alleged AI-generated sexual deepfake. Megan did not, however, publicly confirm that the video caused her emotion.
What happened during the Tampa concert?
Fan-shot footage from Saturday, June 8, 2024, showed Megan pausing before performing “Cobra.” She appeared to collect herself, covered or fanned her face and seemed to struggle with the song’s opening. The audience responded with loud encouragement and supportive messages such as “We love you queen.” Entertainment Tonight described the footage and the performance at its contemporary report.

What did Megan post before the show?
Earlier that day, Megan wrote on X:
“It’s really sick how yall go out of the way to hurt me when you see me winning. Yall going too far, Fake ass s**t. Just know today was your last day playing with me and I mean it.”

Reports treated the post as an apparent response to the alleged sexual deepfake, but the quoted message did not identify a video or explain what she meant. TheGrio, Complex and PerthNow all covered that chronology while noting the uncertainty around the connection: TheGrio, Complex and PerthNow.
Was the circulating material a real sex tape?
No credible account in the contemporary coverage established that it was an authentic recording of Megan. Reports described it as alleged AI-generated or deepfake material, a fake video, or a video purportedly using her likeness. “Sex tape” is therefore not an established description of a genuine event.

There was also no verified finding in those reports about who created the material, where it first appeared, how widely it spread or whether any particular account was responsible. The existence of a sexual video online is not proof that the depicted event happened or that the person shown consented to its creation.

The underlying reports were more cautious: the post preceded the performance, and that timing led outlets and fans to infer a link. It did not prove one. The June 10 report from iHeart’s Elvis Duran site also noted that the footage’s origin had not been confirmed.

Megan later thanked her Tampa audience on Instagram: “TAMPA HOTTIES! Thank you I love yall! Thee energy was everything! Love you hotties!” Reports presented that as appreciation for the crowd, not as an explanation of why she appeared to become emotional.

Why the alleged deepfake matters
Sexual deepfakes fabricate intimate imagery of an identifiable person without that person’s consent. Sharing, embedding or searching for such material can extend the abuse and increase its reach. Responsible coverage can document the public event without linking to the alleged video, reproducing explicit descriptions or displaying screenshots.
In this case, two statements can both be true: the imagery may have been fabricated, and Megan’s distress—if that is what the footage reflected—may still have been genuine. A manipulated depiction does not make the harm of its circulation imaginary.

Some June 2024 coverage also mentioned allegations by former videographer Emilio Garcia in an employment lawsuit. Megan’s attorney, Alex Spiro, denied those allegations and called them “salacious accusations” intended to embarrass her. That litigation was a separate matter; the reporting did not establish that it caused the Tampa performance moment or was connected to the alleged deepfake.
