Ticketmaster: How to Transfer Tickets in 3 Ways (2026)

You can transfer eligible Ticketmaster tickets using the Ticketmaster app, Ticketmaster.com in a mobile browser, or a team or venue’s Ticketmaster portal. The event organizer must enable transfers. Ticketmaster says it does not charge a fee to transfer tickets; the recipient needs a Ticketmaster account to claim them.

Before you transfer tickets

  • Make sure you can sign in to the account that holds the tickets and access the phone number on file for Ticketmaster’s one-time verification code.
  • Confirm the recipient’s email address or mobile number. They should claim the tickets using the Ticketmaster account associated with the contact detail you enter.
  • Check that the event supports transfers. Availability can vary by event, ticket type, account, and timing; look for a Transfer control in the order.
  • If your tickets are managed by a team or venue, use its official ticket portal rather than assuming they will appear under your standard Ticketmaster account.

A transfer gives tickets to another person; it is not a sale, refund, or exchange. Ticketmaster’s help pages say transferring tickets is free, but this does not describe fees or rules that may apply to resale or other transactions. See Ticketmaster’s transfer instructions.

Way 1: Transfer tickets in the Ticketmaster app

  1. Open the Ticketmaster app and sign in.
  2. Open My Tickets or, depending on the account and interface, My Events. Select the event or order.
  3. Tap Transfer or Transfer Tickets.
  4. Enter the one-time verification code Ticketmaster sends by text.
  5. Select the ticket or tickets you want to send, then tap Transfer To.
  6. Enter the recipient’s email address or mobile number and review the details.
  7. Tap Transfer Ticket, Send, or the equivalent confirmation button. If the app opens a text-message composer, press Send there to deliver the invitation.

Ticketmaster’s app and transfer screens can use different labels, so follow the equivalent transfer and confirmation controls if the wording differs. See Ticketmaster’s app guidance and its transfer instructions.

Way 2: Transfer on Ticketmaster.com in a mobile browser

  1. Open Ticketmaster.com in your phone’s browser and sign in.
  2. Go to My Tickets and open the relevant order.
  3. Tap Transfer and enter the one-time verification code sent by text.
  4. Choose the tickets to transfer and tap Transfer To.
  5. Enter the recipient’s email address or mobile number, then confirm the transfer.
  6. If Ticketmaster opens a pre-filled text or WhatsApp message, send it from that app before returning to Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster documents transfer by text through the app or mobile web browser; the available delivery choices depend on the flow. Its explanation of how Ticket Transfer works describes the process.

Way 3: Transfer through a team or venue portal

Some team, season-ticket, and venue accounts are managed separately from the standard Ticketmaster event list. Start from the team or venue’s official website and sign in to its ticket-management area. Ticketmaster’s team and venue portal is at am.ticketmaster.com.

  1. Sign in through the team or venue’s official site or portal.
  2. Open the event or ticket-management area and select the event.
  3. Choose Transfer and complete any text-message verification.
  4. Select the tickets, enter the recipient’s contact information, and confirm the transfer.
  5. If the portal opens a text or WhatsApp invitation, complete the send step in that app.

How the recipient claims the tickets

The recipient needs a Ticketmaster account. They should open the invitation using the same email address or phone number to which the sender sent it, then sign in to the matching account or create one.

  • Email: Open the Ticketmaster email, select Accept Tickets, sign in or create an account using the receiving email address, then select View Tickets.
  • Text: Open the transfer text and tap its sign-in or claim link. Sign in or create the account associated with the receiving number, then check My Tickets.
  • WhatsApp: Open the invitation, tap its sign-in link, and use the account associated with the receiving contact details. Then check My Tickets.

After acceptance, Ticketmaster issues the recipient a new barcode and the sender’s original barcode is no longer valid for entry. For mobile entry, use the official app, mobile site, or supported wallet rather than a screenshot; Ticketmaster says screenshots are not accepted for mobile-entry tickets. See its mobile-entry guidance.

How to check whether the transfer worked

Open the order or transfer details in the account that sent the tickets. A status such as Sent or Waiting to accept means the recipient has not claimed them. A status such as Accepted by or Claimed indicates that the transfer succeeded.

How to cancel a pending transfer

Only the sender can cancel, and the ordinary cancellation option is available only before the recipient accepts the tickets.

  1. Sign in to Ticketmaster and open My Tickets and the relevant order.
  2. Select Cancel Transfer.
  3. If the invitation went by text or WhatsApp, choose whether to notify the recipient.
  4. Confirm with Yes. The tickets return to the sender’s account.

Once they are back, you can keep the tickets or send them to someone else if the event still permits transfers. Ticketmaster explains the status and cancellation process in its Ticket Transfer help article.

Why the Transfer button may be missing

A missing button does not necessarily indicate a problem with your account. Ticketmaster says transfer availability is controlled by the event organizer, and some tickets or events are not eligible.

  • The venue, event, artist, team, or organizer does not support transfers or has disabled them.
  • The event has passed or been canceled, or event-specific restrictions apply.
  • The tickets were purchased by phone.
  • The tickets are held in a separate team or venue account.
  • You are signed in to the wrong account or using the wrong country-specific Ticketmaster site.

Ticketmaster’s transfer eligibility guidance describes these restrictions. If the tickets are eligible, a transfer can sometimes be made before delivery; that depends on the event.

What can be transferred—and what stays separate

You may be able to transfer some or all event tickets in an order. Parking or other event items, and some season-ticket or ticket-series products, may also have transfer controls when the organizer enables them. Merchandise, VIP package elements, fan-club memberships, and ticket insurance are generally excluded from Ticketmaster’s stated transfer rules; insurance does not carry over with transferred tickets. Check the event’s terms for a specific item.

After a recipient accepts, they may transfer the tickets again if the event still allows transfers. These rules are summarized in Ticketmaster’s transfer instructions.

Fix common transfer problems

The recipient cannot find the invitation or tickets

  1. Check that the sender entered the recipient’s email address or phone number correctly. If the transfer is still pending, use the resend option if available.
  2. Have the recipient search email, text messages, or WhatsApp for the invitation, then check My Tickets.
  3. Make sure the recipient signed in with the account tied to the receiving contact detail. If they have multiple Ticketmaster accounts, sign out and try the matching one.
  4. Check whether the tickets are in a team or venue portal rather than the standard Ticketmaster account.
  5. If the tickets came from a resale purchase made elsewhere, contact the original point of purchase.

Ticketmaster’s transfer troubleshooting guidance covers missing tickets and account mismatches.

The transfer or acceptance link returns an error

  • Turn off a VPN, Apple Private Relay, or other proxy service and try again.
  • Sign out of duplicate Ticketmaster sessions and close extra browsers or tabs.
  • Avoid public Wi-Fi; try a private, reliable connection.
  • Clear browser history and cookies, then retry.
  • Confirm you are using the correct country-specific Ticketmaster site.

If the recipient still cannot accept, the sender can cancel and send a new transfer only if it remains unclaimed. If the problem continues, contact Ticketmaster Fan Support.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Transfer safely

Accept invitations through the official Ticketmaster app, an official Ticketmaster link, or the recognized team or venue portal. Do not share your Ticketmaster password or one-time verification code with the sender, and do not pay someone who says a transfer must be “unlocked.” Accept tickets only from someone you know and trust.
