Soulbound unveiled a Web3 livestreaming concept at TwitchCon 2024 in San Diego on September 20, pitching a platform where game studios could fund creator challenges and viewers could participate through digital collectibles and predictions. The announcement described an ambitious creator-economy model—not a replacement for Twitch, proof of mainstream adoption, or evidence that every feature was already live.
What Soulbound announced at TwitchCon
Soulbound presented a blockchain-oriented platform for streamers, viewers, and game developers. Its pitch was to make livestream engagement more participatory: developers could sponsor challenges, streamers could compete for rewards, and viewers could interact through features such as NFT stickers and predictions. GamesBeat reported the announcement and the company’s plans at its September 20, 2024 report.
TwitchCon provided a setting to reach creators, gaming companies, and fans, but the unveiling should not be read as a Twitch partnership or endorsement. Soulbound described its own product and goals; the available reporting does not establish that Twitch hosted, integrated, or formally backed the platform.
How the proposed creator rewards were meant to work
The central stream-to-earn idea was a developer-funded bounty. A studio would set a challenge and deposit a prize pool into a smart contract. Streamers, described as “Bounty Hunters,” would take part during a specified period, with rewards allocated using factors such as audience size and time streamed.

- Streamers participate during the campaign period.
- Rewards are distributed according to the campaign’s rules, which were described as taking audience size and streaming time into account.
That is a proposed rules-based payout design, not a guarantee of earnings or proof that payouts were automatic, fair, or resistant to manipulation. The TwitchCon coverage does not establish how audience figures would be verified, how bots or raids would be handled, what assets rewards would use, or how disputes and fees would work. Those details matter: inflated engagement could distort payouts, and a smart contract can execute rules without proving that the rules are good or that the underlying measurements are accurate.
Stickers, predictions, and game-studio campaigns
NFT stickers and emotes
Soulbound proposed a marketplace for blockchain-linked stickers or emotes used around livestream content. The idea combined familiar stream reactions with digital collectibles, but an NFT sticker is not automatically different in practical use from an ordinary platform emote. Ownership, transferability, creator royalties, resale fees, and utility beyond collecting depend on how the product is built and governed; the TwitchCon account does not settle those questions.
In a 2024 funding announcement, Soulbound materials said users had used more than 25,000 stickers created by more than 150 artists. Those are company-reported figures, not independently audited sales, active-user, or engagement metrics. The figures appear in the funding announcement.
Viewer predictions
The company also described predictions about games or individual players as a way to make watching more interactive and potentially create revenue for streamers. “Prediction market” is a feature description, not enough to establish that the product was legally betting or that it was available in any particular jurisdiction. The available announcement does not specify whether predictions involved money, tokens, or points; how outcomes were settled; what age limits applied; or what geographic restrictions and safeguards were in place. Paid predictions can carry financial and legal risks, so viewers should not assume they are risk-free entertainment.

Tools for game developers
Studios were meant to use bounties, streaming challenges, quests, and campaigns to encourage coverage of their games and reach gaming communities. The 2024 funding announcement also described streamer bounties, social quests, partnerships, and Twitch livestream integration for Soulbound-partnered games. These were proposed promotional tools; campaign activity or views would not by themselves demonstrate lasting player retention or a successful acquisition strategy.
Who was behind the project?
GamesBeat reported that Soulbound was founded in 2021 by A.I. Mansbridge and Casey Grooms, with Grooms identified as CEO. The outlet reported $4 million in funding and named Animoca Brands, NGC Ventures, and Big Brain Holdings among the backers. These are reported company and funding details, not evidence that the platform had established product-market fit.
What Web3 was supposed to add—and what it asks of users
Soulbound’s stated value proposition was programmable incentives: studios could set campaign rules, creators could pursue rewards, and viewers could engage through on-chain mechanisms and collectibles. In principle, smart contracts can automate defined transactions. That does not, on its own, make a platform more transparent or fair than conventional streaming; users still need to know who sets the rules, what data determines eligibility, and who resolves errors or disputes.
- For streamers: Bounties could add campaign-based income and exposure to game studios. They may require wallet setup and comfort with token or NFT mechanics, while reward availability could depend on campaigns rather than recurring subscriptions or advertising.
- For viewers: Collectibles and predictions could offer more active participation. Wallet security, phishing, unclear refund procedures, token volatility, and potential financial loss are relevant risks if paid assets or predictions are involved.
- For studios: Campaigns could direct incentives toward creators covering a title. Poorly designed rewards can attract repetitive or low-quality content, while token campaigns add volatility, treasury, accounting, and compliance considerations.
“Decentralized” also needs a technical definition. A blockchain component does not establish that video delivery, chat, identity, moderation, or account recovery are decentralized. The available coverage does not map which parts of Soulbound’s livestreaming stack were on-chain, how moderation worked, or how users could recover access to accounts or assets.

What followed the TwitchCon unveiling
In later communications, the project was promoted as Soulbound TV, with a broader “StreamFi” framing and features including on-chain tipping, prediction markets, NFT emotes, creator bounties, and real-time rewards. These later developments should not be retroactively treated as features confirmed live at TwitchCon in September 2024. Soulbound’s official announcement channel documents its subsequent product messaging.
Coinbase’s Web3 directory lists Soulbound TV as an on-chain social application and identifies Ethereum, Avalanche, Optimism, Arbitrum, Solana, and Base among its networks. A directory listing shows that the product is cataloged there; it does not independently verify user numbers, revenue, uptime, or product quality. See the Coinbase listing.
The later $SBX token
$SBX belongs to the later Soulbound TV ecosystem, not to what the TwitchCon announcement alone established. Soulbound’s materials described the token as supporting activities such as tipping, predictions, XP boosts, sponsored campaigns, and AI-agent features. A July 2025 release announced MEXC trading for July 25, 2025, at 12:00 UTC; that historical announcement does not establish current availability, price, or liquidity. The release is available from GlobeNewswire.
Soulbound’s official channel later acknowledged difficulties involving market makers, liquidity, and price action. That is material risk context for anyone considering token participation: a token can be listed yet still be difficult to sell at a reasonable price. No current market value or liquidity conclusion follows from the launch announcement.

- how viewers and streamers are authenticated or how bots, Sybil accounts, and manipulated views are excluded;
- the complete technical architecture, including which services are actually on-chain;
- prediction-market terms, settlement methods, age limits, legal status, or regional availability;
- moderation, dispute resolution, fees, and account recovery procedures; or
- current $SBX liquidity, pricing, or exchange availability.
Those gaps do not disprove the concept, but they limit what can responsibly be claimed about its safety, economics, and adoption.
Do not confuse Soulbound TV with Soulbound: Online
Soulbound TV is the livestreaming and SocialFi project discussed here. Search results also surface Soulbound: Online, a pixel-art MMO with its own press page and creator program. The similar names are not evidence that the projects are related; the available materials do not establish a corporate or product connection. See the game’s press page and creator program separately.
Why the TwitchCon announcement matters
Soulbound’s TwitchCon unveiling captured a clear Web3 creator-economy thesis: tie game promotion, streamer rewards, viewer participation, and digital collectibles to programmable transactions. Its significance is as a product proposition, not proof that tokenized livestreaming had solved creator pay or displaced established platforms. The later Soulbound TV identity and $SBX token show how the project’s pitch developed, while independent evidence of adoption, earnings, safety, and regulatory performance remains essential to judging its real-world impact.
