Use TikTok’s mobile Poll sticker when it is available for your account and posting format. Create or upload a video, open the editing screen, choose Stickers → Poll, enter your question and two answer choices, position the sticker, and publish. TikTok rolls features out unevenly, so the sticker may be missing in some countries, app versions, accounts, or formats.
How to create a poll on a TikTok video
- Open the TikTok mobile app and tap Add post (+).
- Record a video or tap the upload control to select media from your device.
- Continue to the editing or preview screen.
- Tap Stickers in the editing tools. TikTok documents this sticker workflow in its editing, posting, and deleting help page.
- Select Poll, if it appears.
- Type the question and tap each answer field to replace the default choices, commonly Yes and No.
- Tap Done, then drag the poll to an unobstructed part of the video. TikTok allows stickers to be moved during editing.
- Continue to the posting screen, add your caption and settings, review the preview, and tap Post.
The wording and location of controls can differ by app version. TikTok’s public Help Center documents adding and positioning stickers, but does not currently provide a dedicated consumer manual for the organic Poll sticker; current descriptions of the Poll label come from secondary walkthroughs such as Adweek and TechYorker.
How to add a poll to a TikTok Story
Some accounts show the same sticker in Stories:
- Tap Add post (+) or start a Story.
- Choose Story if TikTok presents a format choice.
- Record or upload a photo or video.
- Tap Stickers → Poll.
- Enter the question and answer choices, place the sticker, and publish the Story.
Story availability is format- and account-dependent. If Poll appears in a regular post but not a Story, or the reverse, that is a rollout difference rather than a step you can correct in the editor.
How to write a useful TikTok poll
Ask one answerable question
Make the question understandable without requiring viewers to replay the video. “Which ending works better?” is more useful than a broad prompt such as “Thoughts?”

Use two distinct choices
The consumer sticker is commonly documented as a two-choice poll. Make the answers mutually exclusive and similar in length; replace “Yes” and “No” when those defaults do not fit.
Give context before the sticker
Show the product, scene, or decision first, then let viewers vote. Avoid covering faces, subtitles, product labels, or other essential text.
Check the final phone preview
Place the poll in a high-contrast area with safe margins. TikTok’s interface overlays can obscure different parts of a video on different devices.

Close the feedback loop
Tell viewers what their vote will influence and follow up with the result or decision. A poll is an interaction tool, not evidence that it will increase reach or retention.

Viewers normally tap one of the answer buttons displayed over the video. That vote is recorded through the poll interaction instead of requiring manual comment counting.
After publishing, open the post or Story and look for the poll overlay or creator-facing response information. Depending on the format and account, TikTok may expose totals on the post, in a creator view, or through available insights. TikTok’s public consumer documentation does not establish one universal Analytics menu path, so do not assume every account has the same results screen.

Can you edit a poll after posting?
TikTok documents adding and deleting stickers during creation, but it does not establish a post-publication editing path for a poll’s question or choices. Treat a published poll as fixed unless your current app explicitly offers an edit control. For a material error, recreate the video with corrected choices; for a minor clarification, use a pinned comment or follow-up video.
Why the Poll sticker is missing
Do not assume that a missing sticker means you are using the wrong account type. Availability can depend on rollout status, country, app version, posting format, account settings, or a temporary app problem.

- Update TikTok: Install the latest version from your device’s official app store.
- Start a fresh post: Test a new recording or upload instead of an older draft.
- Open the correct tool: Look under Stickers, not Effects, Add Yours, comments, or LIVE controls.
- Try both formats: Check a regular video and Story editor if both are available.
- Restart the app: Force-close TikTok and reopen it.
- Compare access: If possible, test another eligible account or device. Seeing Poll there suggests an account- or rollout-level difference.
- Sign out only carefully: Save important drafts before logging out.
- Report the missing feature: Use TikTok’s in-app support tools if the sticker is absent after the checks above.
Clearing cache, changing language, or switching to a Business account may be experiments, but none is a verified way to enable a feature that TikTok has not assigned to the account.

If you are using TikTok on desktop
The documented Poll workflow is primarily a mobile-editor workflow. TikTok Studio or a browser uploader may not expose the same interactive stickers, so use the TikTok mobile app rather than assuming desktop posting supports polls.
What to use when TikTok does not offer polls

Add Yours invites users to create their own related post, so it should not be presented as a poll. For sensitive or statistically rigorous research, use a dedicated survey service rather than treating a social-media sticker as anonymous or confidential.

Paid polls for advertisers
TikTok Ads Manager has a separate Voting Sticker Interactive Add-on for video ads. TikTok’s advertising documentation specifies a topic with two options, with limits of up to 65 English characters (or 32 Chinese, Japanese, or Korean characters) for the title and up to 16 English characters (or 8 Chinese, Japanese, or Korean characters) per option. Those limits apply to the paid ad format, not automatically to an organic creator post.
See the official Voting Sticker specifications and ad-creation instructions. There is no fixed public price established for the add-on; campaign cost depends on the advertising setup. Buying an ad does not guarantee that TikTok will enable the free organic Poll sticker on an account.
