The steps depend on where you use Apple Music. On an iPhone, open the Now Playing screen and tap Lyrics; for the complete available words, use More (…) > View Credits > View Lyrics. In the Mac Music app, click Lyrics, then choose Window > Full Screen Player. In a browser, click Lyrics and then the lyrics window’s Full Screen control.
What “full-screen lyrics” means on each device
Apple does not use one identical full-screen-lyrics control everywhere. The iPhone app keeps lyrics inside Now Playing. The Mac Music app has a separate Full Screen Player menu command, while Apple Music on the web has an on-screen Full Screen control in its lyrics window.

Apple can change labels between software releases and documentation locales, so a button may appear as Show Credits instead of View Credits.
View synchronized lyrics on iPhone
- Open the Music app and play a song from Apple Music.
- Tap the currently playing song or the MiniPlayer at the bottom to open Now Playing.
- Tap the Lyrics button.
- Scroll through the words. When time-synced lyrics are available, tap a displayed line to jump to that part of the song.
Apple may show line-by-line highlighting, or ordinary full lyrics when synchronization is unavailable. Tap Lyrics again to close the lyrics view. Apple’s iPhone instructions are documented at Apple’s iPhone User Guide.

Show the complete lyrics on iPhone
If you want to read the entire available text rather than follow the currently highlighted line, use the song details screen:
- Open Now Playing for the song.
- Tap More (…).
- Tap View Credits (or Show Credits, depending on the interface).
- Tap View Lyrics.
This is a full-lyrics view, not a separately documented edge-to-edge Full Screen Player. The result still depends on lyrics being supplied for that track.

Put lyrics in the larger Mac Music view
- Open the Music app on your Mac and start a song.
- Click Lyrics at the top of the Music window.
- Choose Window > Full Screen Player from the macOS menu bar.
The Full Screen Player presents the artwork with lyrics alongside it. Clicking Lyrics alone opens the lyrics panel; the Window menu command is the additional step that creates the larger presentation. Click the Lyrics control again to hide the panel or leave the Full Screen Player using its window controls. See Apple’s Mac Music guide.
Add your own lyrics to an eligible Mac file
For some locally stored tracks, Control-click the song, choose Get Info > Lyrics > Custom Lyrics, enter the text, and click OK. Apple says custom lyrics cannot be added to some file types, including WAV and QuickTime. Syncing custom lyrics across devices requires an Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription. This does not create Apple-provided synchronized lyrics for an unavailable catalog track.

Use full-screen lyrics in Apple Music on the web
- Open Apple Music on the web in Safari, Chrome, or another supported browser.
- Play a song from your library, the Apple Music catalog, or Apple Music radio.
- Click Lyrics.
- Click the Full Screen control in the Lyrics window.
You can also click the album artwork at the top of the player to open the Full Screen Player. To exit, click the Close button in the upper-left corner. The browser controls are separate from the Mac app’s Window > Full Screen Player command. Apple’s web instructions are at Apple Music User Guide for the web.
When the Lyrics button is missing or disabled
Apple identifies three common causes on Mac and PC: the track is not from the Apple Music catalog, lyrics are unavailable for that song, or the device is offline. On iPhone, a downloaded song is needed for lyric access when you have no connection.

- Check that playback is from an Apple Music catalog song rather than a local file or unsupported purchase.
- Connect to the internet.
- Try another well-known catalog track. If lyrics appear there, the first song is the limiting case.
- Stop and restart playback, then reopen Now Playing or the lyrics panel.
- Install the latest operating-system update if the interface appears out of date.
- Report missing or incorrect lyrics through Apple’s feedback process.

Translations and pronunciation
On iPhone, open lyrics and tap Translation and Pronunciation. Depending on the song, language, region, and your preferred-language settings, you may see Show Translation, Show Pronunciation, or Hide Original. The web player may show a Translate control when a matching version exists. These features are not available for every song. Details are in Apple’s lyrics support article.

Larger lyric text
For readability on iPhone, open Settings > General > Apps > Music and choose the larger-text option for original lyrics or pronunciation. This enlarges text but does not turn lyrics into a separate full-screen mode.
Apple Music Sing
On a supported iPhone, open synchronized lyrics and tap the Mic/Vocal Volume control to adjust the vocal level. Apple lists iPhone 11 or later and iPhone SE (3rd generation) with iOS 16.2 or later, subject to song availability; see Apple Music Sing requirements. Sing enhances the lyrics experience but is not the basic way to open full lyrics.
Why synchronization may be absent
When Apple has only ordinary lyrics, you can read the text but will not get line-by-line highlighting or line-tapping to jump through the song. Downloading a catalog song helps preserve lyric access offline on iPhone, but it does not guarantee that every local or downloaded file has Apple-supplied lyrics.
