Check KICK’s official live status page first. It separates platform, streaming, authentication, chat, notifications, payments and API systems, so one feature can fail while others continue working. If no incident is listed, work through the browser, app, network and account checks below.
Service status changes continuously; the status page is the current source of truth rather than a fixed “down today” claim.
Check whether KICK is down right now
- Open https://status.kick.com/.
- Inspect individual components, especially Platform, Streaming, Authentication, Chat, Public APIs, Notifications and Payments.
- Open incident history to see whether a problem is new, ongoing or resolved.
- Match the affected component to your symptom.

KICK says its status service provides current conditions, past incidents and real-time updates, with optional email, Slack and webhook subscriptions. A listed incident means KICK is aware of the problem and working on it; reinstalling the app or repeatedly resetting your router will not repair a server-side outage. Social-media or crowd reports can reveal symptoms, but they do not prove a global outage.
Signs the problem is probably on KICK’s side
- KICK fails on several browsers and devices.
- It fails on both Wi-Fi and cellular data.
- Multiple unrelated channels fail at the same time.
- Homepage, login, streams and chat fail together.
- The official status page reports degraded performance or an incident.
- Pages partially render and then stop across different networks.
A status page showing “operational” is useful evidence, not an absolute guarantee: regional routing, an ISP, a CDN, an account, or a newly emerging incident can still affect you.

Quick fixes, in the least disruptive order
- Refresh or relaunch. Reload the desktop tab; close and reopen a mobile-browser tab; force-quit and relaunch the app. KICK recommends this for chat problems.
- Test a private window. Open KICK in incognito or private browsing. If it works, cached data, cookies or an extension is the likely cause.
- Disable extensions temporarily. Test ad blockers, privacy or tracking blockers, script blockers and VPN extensions one at a time. Whitelist KICK rather than permanently removing a security tool.
- Try another supported browser. KICK recommends current Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Safari on Mac and iOS.
- Test another network. Switch Wi-Fi to cellular data, try another Wi-Fi connection, restart the router, move closer to it, use Ethernet where possible and temporarily disable a VPN. A change after switching networks points toward local Wi-Fi, ISP, DNS, routing or VPN interference, but does not identify the exact fault.
Fix KICK in a desktop browser
Clear KICK site data
Do this after the private-window test. Clearing cookies signs you out, so confirm that you know your password and can access two-factor authentication.
- Chrome: three-dot menu → Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data. Select Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data, then reopen Chrome.
- Firefox: menu → Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data, then reopen KICK.
- Safari: Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data. Search for KICK, remove its data and reopen Safari.

Toggle hardware acceleration for a black or frozen player
Use this only when the page loads but video is black, frozen or choppy. In Chrome go to Settings → System and toggle Use hardware acceleration when available, then restart. In Firefox go to Settings → General → Performance, clear Use recommended performance settings, toggle hardware acceleration and restart. KICK says either setting can help depending on the device and graphics configuration.
Safari-specific checks
Ensure Block All Cookies is off. Temporarily test with cross-site tracking prevention disabled, then compare Chrome or Firefox. Safari’s stricter privacy controls can affect login, playback and third-party flows.

Fix the KICK mobile app
- Update it: On iPhone, App Store → profile icon → pending updates → KICK. On Android, Play Store → profile icon → Manage apps & device → update KICK.
- Force-quit the app and reopen it.
- Restart the phone and install available operating-system updates.
- Check storage. KICK says less than 1 GB free can contribute to loading or crash problems.
- Reinstall only after confirming your password and working two-factor-authentication method; reinstalling removes local app state and requires signing in again.
- Try cellular data and another Wi-Fi network.
Older devices that cannot update their operating system may not run the newest app properly. KICK’s guidance is at its mobile-app crash support page. For mobile-browser failures, KICK says the app is designed for the best mobile experience and is available through the App Store and Google Play.
Diagnose the specific symptom
Homepage will not load
Check the status page, then private mode, another browser, another network, extensions/VPN and KICK site data. If it works elsewhere, investigate DNS or ISP differences. Do not assume an account suspension before the site reaches the login stage.
Streams load but video is black
Try another browser, toggle hardware acceleration, disable content blockers, compare another channel and check device graphics performance. A working chat alongside a black player often points away from a total platform outage.
Video keeps buffering
For viewers, test another network, lower playback quality if available, close bandwidth-heavy apps and use Ethernet where possible. For streamers, check upload capacity and encoder settings before raising resolution or frame rate. KICK says lag can involve the connection, encoder or platform and supports up to 1920×1080 at 60 fps, although maximum settings are not suitable for every connection. Chat does not load or messages will not send
If chat fails on every channel, check status and your network. If only one channel is affected, check slow mode, followers-only or subscribers-only mode, a timeout or a ban, and confirm that you are logged in. A quiet chat may simply have few viewers; a large stream may move too quickly to appear stable. Refresh the page or reopen the app, as KICK advises in its chat troubleshooting guide.
Login fails
Test private browsing, another browser, cleared KICK cookies, the app versus website and another network. Check your device’s date and time and whether two-factor authentication works. Do not repeatedly reset a password unless you have evidence that the credentials are wrong; blocked scripts, stale cookies and authentication-service faults can look identical.
Only one channel or stream fails
The streamer may be offline, the broadcast may have ended or changed URL, or that stream may have an ingest or playback fault. Channel chat controls can also affect only that community. KICK notes that opening chat on high-traffic channels can trigger crashes on some devices.

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
- Your KICK username and affected channel URL, if relevant.
- Browser and version, operating system, device model and whether the web, app or both fail.
- The exact symptom or error message.
- When it began, including your time zone.
- A screenshot or screen recording.
- Which browsers, networks and devices you tested.
Do not use random “KICK support” phone numbers. During a confirmed incident, monitor the incident updates instead of repeatedly clearing data or reinstalling; those actions cannot fix KICK’s servers and may create a new sign-in problem.

Is KICK down for everyone?
Not necessarily. KICK can have a platform-wide, regional or single-service incident, while your browser, network, account or one channel has a separate problem. Check https://status.kick.com/ and compare another device and network.
Why does KICK work in incognito mode?
Private browsing bypasses much of your saved site data and disables or limits extensions. The result usually points to stale cookies, cache or an extension conflict; re-enable extensions individually to identify it.
Should I use a VPN to fix KICK?
No. KICK lists VPN extensions as possible sources of interference. Temporarily disabling a VPN is a useful diagnostic test, not a guaranteed fix.

Does reinstalling KICK delete my account?
Reinstalling removes local app data, not the account itself, but it signs you out. Confirm your password and access to two-factor authentication first.
How long should I wait after KICK reports an outage?
There is no universal restoration time. Follow the incident’s updates on the official status page; avoid disruptive local changes while KICK is actively working on the service.

Check KICK’s live status page first. If it reports an incident, monitor it; if not, isolate the cause with private browsing, a current browser, cleared KICK data, another network and the updated app before contacting [email protected].
