April 19, 2026 Strands hints
Strands uses a 6×8 board containing 48 letters. Find the theme words to fill the board; the spangram describes the theme and reaches two opposite edges.
Progressive clues
- Try the non-theme words MIXED, VOTER, WEAR, MADE, MINT or RAKE to unlock the in-game hint system.
- The spangram contains 13 letters.
- It runs from the board’s left edge in row 1 to the right edge in row 8.
- There are six theme words in addition to the spangram.

Why the year matters
“April 19” is not a unique date in the Strands archive. The Saturday, April 19, 2025 puzzle was game #412 and has a completely different theme and answer set.

How to use the hints without spoiling the puzzle
Start with the six listed clue words as ordinary, non-theme guesses. Once enough valid non-theme words are found, Strands awards an in-game hint that reveals letters from a theme word. The board is completed by finding all six theme words plus the spangram.
Strands is available through the NYT Games site on desktop and mobile. The spangram is always a useful structural check because it must connect opposite sides of the board.
